Think back Nation oh not that far…back when Nicki Minaj was a rising star with no album and little track record to speak of. The Nation was buzzing about her almost daily. Fast forward to the present and over 11 MILLION TWITTER FOLLOWERS later, she’s officially reached critical mass.

As with most celebrities, She’s completely lost touch with reality and has surrounded herself with so many “Yes Men” that she think the world is here to serve her. In the wake of a diva hissy fit she deleted her Twitter after the heavy criticism after Rap Radar leaked her music. Since when was it cool to be drama queen in rap? I mean…the whole tough guy movement was a bit much but Twitter Beefs and reality shows? Its all too much for me. Makes my stomach turn.

Despite reports the tweets the product of a hacker, the evidence proves otherwise.

All day yesterday, Mobb Deep‘s Havoc has taken to social media accusing him of being gay and engaging in a cyber war. It all kicked off when Havoc tweeted

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP: “Congrats to P @prodigymobbdeep and @rihanna for getting married soon!! @rihanna please confirm!”

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP: “@prodigymobbdeep we got a meeting, lets see if u built to show ur face.”

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP: “Prodigy a b—h and I’m gonna show it.”

He went on to accuse P. of having homosexual relations during his three-year stint in an upstate New York prison from which he was release last March.

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP: “I got n—– in the jail system to to back up that prodigy was f—— homes in jail,”

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP: “prodigy prove me wrong! please…i have a big announcement…. and n—– that was locked wit him know the truth.”

I’m not really sure why these tough guys would be privy to that information and what they’d have to gain by telling the truth. I mean is the DA going to lighten their sentence by adding fuel to some rap drama???

And to cap it off Havoc went on to say:

@HAVOCMOBBDEEP:“I had to smack P, ask him,” he wrote. “LETS DO A ONE ON ONE!!!!! ME AND P!!! HE SO BUTTTT HE WILL AVOID!!!!”

While some of the much more awesome gossip blogs quickly believed, Havoc’s mia culpa, the evidence actually proves the contrary. Havoc indeed was responsible for the comments and his claims that the tweets were delivered by a malicious hacker who found his phone after he lost it in Jersey. But as POWER 105 New York’s Breakfast Club’s crack investigators discovered, the tweets were delivered from the web, not some Twitter phone app. Hmmmm….

If you still don’t believe, Mobb Deep affiliate, fellow Queens native and longtime friend, N.O.R.E. confirmed voice recordings in which Havoc disses his group mate. Its officially on!

Did he cross the line or is he unfairly being targeted to prove a point and be made an example of?

@ROLANDSMARTIN @GLAAD
I used to follow Roland Martin on Twitter. (For some reason that I can’t remember I don’t any longer.) What I found to be interesting about the CNN political talky was that he held no punches. He tweeted without edit, without fear of being politically incorrect. Quite refreshing for someone with the “Verified” stamp next to his avatar.

But if you believe the Gay police GLAAD, Roland pulled a foul on Sunday while tweeting about the #Superbowl. Following a seemingly out of place, H&M commercial featuring soccer player David Beckham, CNN’s Roland Martin tweeted to his 100K followers:

@ROLANDSMARTIN: If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him! #superbowl’

GLAAD was none too happy and responded leading to the all to exciting cyber fight.

@GLAAD: “@rolandsmartin Advocates of gay bashing have no place at @CNN #SuperBowl #LGBT”

@ROLANDSMARTIN: “@glaad @CNN well you’re clearly out of touch and clueless with what I tweeted. Way to assume, but you’re way off base.”

Apparently further GLAAD research further fueled the argument after it was discovered Martin wasn’t pleased with the Pink clothing choice of one New England Patriot and voiced his opinion on Facebook.

Who the hell was that New England Patriot they just showed in a head to toe pink suit? Oh, he needs a visit from #teamwhipdatass.

Wait for it…wait for it…..And here comes his inevitable apology/ clarification issued via his website.

I made several cracks about soccer as I do all the time. I was not referring to sexuality directly or indirectly regarding the David Beckham ad, and I’m sorry folks took it otherwise.

“It was meant to be a deliberately over the top and sarcastic crack about soccer; I do not advocate violence of any kind against anyone gay, or not. As anyone who follows me on Twitter knows, anytime soccer comes up during football season it’s another chance for me to take a playful shot at soccer, nothing more.”

One thing I love about the Nation is we’ve always been mature enough to discuss topics objectively whether they affect us or not. The Gay rights activists in this country have a lot of power and while that important to keeping bigotry in check, such power abused can be a slippery slope. We have grown unquestionably very sensitive as a culture to race, sex and orientation jokes. Where do we draw the line? Did Roland Martin cross it or is he unfairly targeted to prove a point and make an example? SOUND OFF: Should Roland Martin get fired from CNN for his tweets about Gays?

He won't stop until the entire world is infatuated with the arts or at least wearing skin tight jeans and rocking louis

Kanye West may just be one of the most talented individuals of our life time. One of this greatest qualities is his passion. For years he’s been trying to inspire the creativity of the world to be more like him. Unfortunately with it comes the level of insanity as well.

His latest idea a design think tank. The new company is named after his late mother, Dr. Donda West. DONDA will bring together the best in a number of different fields to collaborate on new innovations. Mr. West took to his recently neglected Twitter account to describe his ideas.

I have started a new company and I’m so excited about the name…. it’s got the best name ever of all companies of all time!!!….

The name of the company is DONDA. DONDA is a design company which will galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce there dreams and ideas.

I used to blog all the time an fit was a way to get my opinion out…Dr Dre redesigned headphones and made more impact off of one product.

I am assembling a team of architects, graphic designers, directors musicians, producers, AnRs, writers, publicist, social media experts…app guys, managers, car designers, clothing designers, DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, lawyers, bankers, nutritionist ..doctors, scientist,teachers.

DONDA will be comprised of over 22 divisions with a goal to make products and experiences that people want and can afford…I want to put creatives in a room together with like minds that are all waaaay doper than me

We want to help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel. ..To dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need.. To marry our wants and needs.

This will all take time but I wanted everyones to know what I really care about… I care about people. I care about my fans..I care about people who have never heard of me… There are over 7 billion people on the planet now.

The Watch the Throne tour was a small example of what a Donda Experience can be.

This one of our projects to be released this year called 2016 OLYMPIC’s … It’s a semi sic-fi since 2016 is only 4 years away. We would also like’ to design the MTV awards. We’re taking everything 10 steps at a time LOL!

I wanted to put this in the world in hopes that the people who can actually make a difference will stand up and reach out. We need as many amazing powerful smart talented wealthy people to be involved… Come get on board… don’t just sit there… reach out

We can collectively effect the world trough design. We need to pick up where steve jobs left off.When I said wealthy I wanted to point out there are so many billionaires in the world that can come together and help to redesign it. Help education. School systems were designed to turn people into factory workers.

Schools should be designed to prep human beings for real life. Spike Jonze and I want to do a Summer school that tries new forms of cuuriculim. Math classes should teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accounting and money management aaaaaand cut!!! ….

I know this is not a very rapper thing to say but I haven’t bought a new car or piece of jewelry in about 2 years…I invest every dime back into creativity… hiring amazing creatives paying for flights, offices … etc…My area of expertise is in music, my passion is in music design film and products… my strength is connectivity…

There are so many broken systems from the economy to school systems jail systems… we need experts for this…We need scientist and top world designers to directly affect governments. If anyone would like to reach out email us at contactDONDA@gmail.com

@OfficialWebbie @TerrenceJ #beef
If there’s one thing I know about the Nation is yall love your beefs. While now a-days with Faux-Hop running rampant, real beefs like the Real Roxanne, BDP vs. Queensbridge, LL Cool J vs Canibus are fewer and farther between we must quench our thirst with lesser more comical conflicts. Take Terrance J from 106 & Park. I must say since being appointed the position of host, alongside Rocsi to replace A.J. and Free I’ve always thought of dude as little more than a clown with his buffoonish antics. Yet I realize there’s a place for his antics apparently in the 2.0 generation of Hip Hop.

So it was surprising to me when I caught wind that the young man actually grew a set late last week in response to some off-camera beef with Webbie who had appeared as a guest judge for the show’s Freestyle Friday segment. Afterward, host Terrence J announced that Webster was banned from the show.

While the details of what transpired are still sketchy, Webbie did what any gangsta would do and took to the internet to fight back.

#Facebook #NewFacebook
I would tell you that Facebook yesterday flipped the script on users confusing the hell out of the masses and launching protest in front of the White House propelled by the Tea Party blaming President Obama’s “Change” campaign. No seriously though. The worldwide uproar from Social to traditional media is a referendum on the power that Facebook has had on our lives over the past few years. While admittedly I’m not the reliant user I’m sure many Americans are, yesterday’s altering of the News Feed the addition of that bizarre “ticker” was a little off putting.

The changes are all part of the illuminatibook’s recently introduced “Subscribe” functionality which allows users to see any public post from users on the social network.

According to the official Facebook blog, the changes are in effort to make it more like a newspaper. If you’re like me and log in only once in a while the most popular stories from your friends and those you’re subscribed to appear on top. If you check it more frequently, more recent stories appear. But as the Tea Party Nation we have become we don’t want anyone controlling what we see in our time line. HANDS OFF THE TIMELINE! Ok…simmer down folks. The hope was to allow users to see more of what they want to, and less of what they don’t. Apparently, Facebookers don’t like that convenience and would rather be distracted from their infinitely more important daily duties for longer periods of time sifting through piles of mindless status updates and pictures of one legged dogs.

The changes have already, believe it or not lead to hackers creating “Old Facebook” apps reverting the user’s individual design bact in time a few days when the world was a better place. Ahhhhhhhh. Applications like the free Chrome extension Facebook Ticker Remover completely does away with the Ticker, Other extensions like Better Facebook and F.B. Purity allow users to remove certain elements. Both are available for Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera all of these will likely violate Facebook’s terms of service and those caught using them will be lynched on site.

My point is that we kid, joke about the illuminati, New World Order as some orifice from outer space, this global dictatorship under the direction of a Hitler-esque emperor but the truth is, our minds are our most vulnerable asset. Facebook and other digital outlets have touched every aspect of our lives from how we communicate with family, friends, work to sharing, learning, traveling…living. Give that much power to one source and well yeah….its quite easy to become the victim of its control.

#SMS #texting
Are you one of the many Americans who have altogether stopped making phone calls and holding conversations 140 characters at a time via text message? People are driving while texting, riding their bike….while texting, crossing the street…while texting all very dangerous but still we’ve become so obsessed as a society we can’t help it. Young and old everyone is addicted to text.

A recent study published by Pew Internet says more than 80 percent of American adults own cell phones and, of that percentage, 73 percent send texts and 31 percent of them actually enjoy texting rather than talking. Why is that? What is it about talking that is less attractive then trying to squeeze a complete thought into one small mobile phone window?

The study also revealed that the most frequent texters, aged 18 and 24 are now sending on average 3200 texts per month up from 2900 text messages just two years ago. That’s an average of 110 texts messages sent and received DAILY! That’s 110 times you were distracted from your daily activities, 110 times you swerved into oncoming traffic to send an lol or , 110 times you hit your homeboy up to tell him you’re running late all because you spent too much time texting with your homegirl?

Remember this is JUST TEXTS. Lets not even go into email, Facebook or Twitter. By the way, I’ve always wondered why we’ve become so obsessed with text when we can just as easily send email without the constraints? Hell everyone has a smartphone now most capable of receiving email.

As a regular blogger and social media contributor I’ve kind of gotten roped into this underworld of geekdom. Not quite the Dungeons and Dragons/ Harry Potter/ Hobbit relm but Poindexter in its own right. I’ve had the opportunity to meet online, and fortunately meet offline as well a wealth of great minds in the space of online content providing. One such person I never had the pleasure of meeting and unfortunately now never will was Trey Pennington.

Pennington, a Greenville businessman, social media enthusiast, author and speaker ended his own life Sunday morning outside of a Greenville church, the sad end to months of personal struggle. According to friends, he was battling depression and going through a divorce after 25 years of marriage. Those that knew him used words like passion, desire, genuine ability and was defined as “one of the good guys.”

Before his death Trey shared more than 70 photos of family and friends, on Facebook and posted this ominous status update to his 111,386 friends.

“Sure am thankful for online friends who are real friends offline, too. Love you,”

Its amazing how someone who was valued by over 100 people could feel so abandoned but not uncommon. The reason Trey’s story is one that I felt the need to share was because Trey is no different than me. We share many things in common including owning a business, our activities and passions. While our ethnic backgrounds and geography might have been different the world of the internet scrubbed all that clean anyway.

For me personally this has been a summer characterized by sadness. I shared a story with you all recently of how I lost my stepmom. She too suffered from some of the same demons as Trey. I know many people who do, I too have had self doubt and bouts of depression. We as a society however, need to learn that this does not mean we’re crazy. We’re human. Our minds are a powerful tool, often too powerful for our own control when mixed with emotion. As I said I don’t know Trey but I feel like I did. I felt a part of his extended family and I am saddened that he’s gone. I wish that we can begin to become more open and conversely accepting that such conditions are common place and “seeing someone” is not taboo.

Jason Trey was 46. Rest easy fam.

@Groupon @NationalLouis

If you’re like me you’re cheap like to save money and that’s why the emergence of websites like Groupon and LivingSocial.com have made us all feel like we’re finally using social media for good. These socially powered collective buying sites allow subscribers to have the power of the deal. The more you participate, the greater the discounts.

But with more sites competing for business, its been hard to differentiate. Groupon, the leader in the space boasts over 35 million users but is losing market share by the day to competitors. So they’ve come up with a great idea. Groupon and National Louis University in Chicago are teaming up to offer discounted tuition of only $950. That’s almost a $1300 discount off their normal rate of $2,232 While the deal is only good for a graduate level teaching course this is a first for any accredited University.

Its kind of cool if you think about. Imagine in a few years when your kids are gearing up for college. Just as they’re making their decision, instead of scouring the internet for scholarships to offset the huge financial burden you could be looking for coupons. Unbeleivable.

The deal deal goes live and will tip once 15 people have signed up.

Maybe the not-so-Stupid Athlete touched a nerve. Perhaps he was smarter than all of us.

@ArianFoster
As a Football Fan and an Avid Fantasy Football player the news that Arian Foster tweeted the actually MRI film taken of his injured hamstring is a big one. For one, it confirms yet again what we already knew the way in which information is consumed and disseminated has been flipped on its head as a result of social media.

Social Media, specifically Tweeting has I feel posed a threat to professional sports leagues. Where in the past, the leagues and their teams held the power and were effective in controlling the release of information about player news, transactions and in this case injuries. But in this new age we live in, we as fans never have to be the last to know (unless we chose to be.) The athletes can now bypass the press conference and go straight to their mobile devices to release information and once its out there, there’s no taking it back.

ArianFoster Arian Foster

@ArianFoster: This is an MRI of my hamstring, The white stuff surrounding the muscle is known in the medical world as anti-awesom

He would later come back and try to justify his post.

@ArianFoster: If I had a “significant injury” why post it? I’ll be fine, it was jus meant to make fun of the whole situation. Humor is lost nowadays.

Now most of the time what’s tweeted is either silly or stupid. In fact, many people are calling Foster’s actions such but I’m not so quick to judge. Many of us will never be privy to the inner sanctums of the NFL or any other league. We DON’T know what his team and their doctors were telling him about the injury. The sports media has been killing him saying he’s essentially showing the opposition exactly how to beat him.

However, if you read more into it, because of the twipic, medical experts have had the opportunity to analyze the film and way in on thier professional opinion. The consensus is that given a hamstring in such condition that Foster should be out up to a month. However, everything we were hearing prior to the tweet indicated he might play in week one.

Lets get something straight. Foster is not slouch. He was my teams #1 haus last year, leading me to my Fantasy league ‘ship. So for him to be out not only damages the Houston Texans chances to do well this year but also makes his injury front and center. What if the Texans were planning to put him out there despite his injury. We’re coming off the heels of a new collective bargaining agreement in which the players clearly lost ground. Whose to say the Texans were trying to push Foster out there before he was ready? Would not this Tweet foil that plan and prevent the team from seeking retribution against him? I know its diabolical but I’m not just going to write Foster off as just another “Dumb Athlete”.

At the end of the day this only scratches the surface of a much larger issue. One of the things we treasure most in this country is medical records. The thought that one’s entire Medical Confidentiality could be compromised at with the send of a tweet is kind of scary. Now in this case the leak was self inflicted it does draw your attention to much larger issue. Imagine lets say a disgruntled employee releasing important medical records via twitpic without being identified? It could happen….

Is it possible that Spotify and similar services could bring paid music back?

What’s up Nation. Let me ask you a question.

How do you listen to and build your music library?

I’m wondering if I’m going to get a hundred different answers. It used to be we all had CD’s right? Then Napster came along and changed the game, copycats insued and the music industry squashed it albeit at the expense of…their business. Now a days however we have a much more structured digital music environment. There’s still illegal downloads, burns etc. but success in the pay space is also been realized by an emerging industry lead by iTunes.

On the flip side there are subsription based music services like Spotify. But even that marketplace hasn’t shaked out completely. Recently the company reported losing lost 1.6 million weekly active free users but gained 520,000 paying subscribers in the four-month period. WHY? Well they started implementing limits on free users. U.S. Free users are now limited to 10 hours per month and can listen to any one song up to five times.

Here’s a little look inside the numbers.

In March, Spotify had 4.73 million weekly active free users and 1.02 million paying subscribers.

May 1st they deaded unlimited free use.

By June, Spotify had 3.13 million active free users – a decline of 34% but 1.54 million paying subscribers, up 51%

Does this mean that Spotify and other such services are deemed that important that users would be willing to pay for the service rather than find a free alternative albeit illegal? That’s what the numbers are showing. Could this be the formula that brings the music industry back from the dead? Likely not, but it may indicate where the future of digital music is headed. While the black market of music will always exist, illegal downloads aren’t without risk. As the digital music industry matures, enthusiast will be more inclined to pay for a higher end service. THOUGHTS?

When will they give this guy a break? Are they going to boycott the cemetery that buries him when he eventually dies?

@nikeplus @MikeVick @BET
Nike recently resigned its former poster child turned convicted felon, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. This following a 21 month sentence in a federal prison for dogfighting, committing himself to tireless community service activities denouncing such illegal activities and eventually returning to form almost capturing the MVP award last year. Despite it all, folks still won’t give the guy a break and are going after Nike for supporting him.

A new Facebook campaign is encouraging dog enthusiast to boycott Nike and any other companies who endorse Vick. A modest 4,000 people have “liked” the page, most of them probably New York Giants, Redskins and Cowboys fans. The campaign is sure to gain legs after some tree hugging celebrities have taken to twitter to voice their displeasure and encourage fans to follow suit.

@jennaldewan: “Yes, I do believe in forgiveness, but that does not mean I need to support him as an inspirational figure,” Jenna Dewan, star “The Playboy Club” tweeted.

@SophiaBush: “NIKE just signed Michael Vick!? Done. Over. Lost customer. NEVER wearing Nike again. #AnimalAbuseIsUnforgivable”

@SophiaBush: The propensity to be cruel and ruthless toward a defenseless animal is sick, twisted, & unforgivable. #NOTaRoleModel.”

@KaleyCuoco: “Dear Nike, I’m disappointed.”

Now while many of these white actresses stand their ground, the spineless BET decided to give Vick its “Athlete of the Year” award. The new Facebook campaign is calling for the network’s head as well as Subway who sponsored and presumably approved the award.

I think its time we lay off Vick. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. sheesh! I mean this guy has paid his debt, he’s served time, he’s doing the right thing through community service, he’s saying all the right things. I think this all boils down to jealousy. We don’t like seeing others succesful and when they mess up its almost like we don’t want to see them given a second chance at something we didn’t have a first at. These ultra libral Animal activist celebrities never watched Vick and probably didn’t wear Nike’s in the first place, they probably have a closet full of those ugly yet expensive TOMS alpargata moccasins. I mean come on. Is the average person really going to throw out their Jordans and Air Force Ones and wear what? Reeboks? Yikes. BET Was wrong for that at Subway should be ripping them a new asshole for even ropign them into that whole controversy. But would we expect anything less? Probably not.

@RepWeiner

Well the month long Anthony Weiner Twitpic scandal affectionately known as “Weinergate” has finally come to a close. Earlier today, the Democrat issued what will be his final press conference from the Council Center in Queens, NY. But was it me? He still seems like he has a chip on his shoulder. He didn’t seem at all humbled by the embarrassment and his public humiliation brought on by himself. I guess not because he seemed arrogrant till the very end acting like everyman who was victimized by “the man.”

So it should come as no surprise that his resignation announcement was met with applause and boo’s and a former constituent turned heckler who yelled “Bye bye pervert!” Despite his “indiscretions” SOUND OFF should Anthony Weiner have retired?

@SouljaBoy #Racism @facbeook
One of the things you might love about social network might actually be the one single reason we all hate it…freedom. This week, SouljaBoyTellem (is he still relevant?) took to his Facebook page to tell off the haters posting hurtful comments on his wall. (I do believe their are privacy settings for that sort of thing but I digress.) So what did Mr. Tellem have for the haters? More hate. Check it out.

“WHO THE fuck “likes” an artist on facebook who they dont LIKE. DUMB ASS”

“If you dont like ME or my music UNLIKE the page and let the people who do enjoy their artist giving updates and music out. shit getting out of hand now. GTFOH you stalkers”

“how can you say “i hate you” blah blah blah. when you are on my page that doesnt make any sense! it sounds crazy you are stalking a person who you dont like WTF kinda sh*t is that. no life having bitches”

“haters are so fucking stupid! “i dont like soulja boy so im gonna like his facebook and wait till he post a video to be the 1st one to comment” nigga get the fuck out of here go get some pussy and stop being a lame”

“pussy ass white boys make me sick man. LET A BLACK MAN SHINE AND DO SOMETHING POSITIVE!!! DAMN YALL ALREADY GOT MONEY AND LIVING RIGHT STOP HOLDING US BLACK PEOPLE DOWN TRYING TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE WITH THEIR LIVES! YALL BEEN fuckING WITH US SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. if I don’t like a artist im not going to like their facebook and talk to them. use common sense and stop being stupid.”

“IM TIRED OF WHITE PEOPLE DOING US LIKE THIS MAN!! THEY TREAT US SO WRONG!! fuck THEM MAN ON GOD!! fu*k THEM FOR LIKING A BLACK MANS FACEBOOK JUST TO TALK shit!! fuck RACIST I HATE YOU”

“Maybe I finally said the right shit to get these racist to unlike my page. Fans i’m sorry you had to read this. but we must take a stand. they WILL not treat us like this any longer. I dont give a fuck.”

“I’m gonna keep talking shit to these white faggots until they unlike my page. fucking weirdo stalkers!”

“just unlike my page and shut the fuck up. let my fans enjoy me. All young black people dont let these faggots discourage you from your dreams! you can be anything you want! DESPITE them always trying to hold us down and talk shit! WE ARE GREAT”

“if you are saying “soulja i dont like u now” i dont give a fuck i dont want u on my page anyway. I am going to speak my mind forever. and if something is not right ITS JUST NOT RIGHT! I can’t help it i’m a real person with feelings. fuck a hater. and fuck a racist. out.”

Ok so at last count Souljaboy address all the stalkers, bitches, haters, niggas…ahhhh looks like he’s in the clear. Oh Uh…yeah we have a problem. He also spewed venom at the “pussy ass white boys”. Yeahh uh sorry, that’s going to cost you a few million album sales there buddy. That’s like shooting at the cops. Even if its what you feel like doing, you can’t do it. I mean on top of it how are you going to play the victim poor black man role? COME ON SON! The white man been holding you down? Hell the white man HELD YOU DOWN! It was the white man and his silly little YouTube creation that made you who you are dummy. Think for a minute before you speak next time.

Did a Jealous Cyberthug go overboard?

@MBooone
I’ll admit I had to ask some of the young cats at the gym exactly who M-Bone is. While unfortunately I was never familiar with him, personally as an artist, we all know his cult-like hit song “Teach Me How to Dougie.” M-Bone was killed in a weekend drive-by shooting as he sat in a car outside a liquor store, according to police.

TMZ, which as @4PL likes to point out is never wrong, is now reporting that murdered Cali Swag District member M-Bone may have been murdered after a Twitter beef over a girl escalated.

The streets are talking and saying M-Bone started seeing a shorty soon after completing his Los Angeles from his tour. Apparently the woman had a jealous admirer who lived in her building and allegedly took to Twitter thugging.

“We’re told M-Bone did not back down and the two men started cyber smack-talking each other,” TMZ reports.

TMZ added credence to the allegations by reporting that the black car in which M-Bone was shot is registered to the woman. Police are investigating why M-Bone was driving the woman’s car and how the internet beef was tied in. According to TMZ, witnesses say the shooter fired two shots, one fatally killing M-Bone in the head, left, then pulled a U-turn to revisit the crime seen perhaps to confirm his kill. I’ m honestly not surprised. 90% of murders are sparked over drugs or a girl. The slain entertainer’s Twitter handle was @MBooone

With Minorities driving the Social Revolution, Google shows their thinking with corporate diversity as a strategic focus

#Google #HBCU
I can remember a few years back, there was an article published on BlackWeb2.0 encouraging Google to consider hiring more black employees. At the time Laszlo Bock, Google’s vice president of people operations said in a statement before Congress, “we have a very strong internal Black Googler Network. We actually view it as our obligation to reach out to underrepresented communities in our industry, particularly women in engineering, particularly African-Americans.” It took a couple of years but it appears they’re finally catching if for nothing else to profit from it.

Whether its been hosting rappers for private concerts for its employees or sponsoring urban events Google has been making an attempt at diversity. Currently they’re actively recruiting alumni from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to work among their ranks. They will be hosting an “Alumni Party” in their Atlanta office today, ( Wednesday) and in Washington DC on April 7.

Are you an HBCU graduate and perhaps looking for a gig in one of those two cities? Or perhaps you’re looking for a change of pace in a company with a fresh and energetic corporate culture? You might want to check it out if nothing else. Here’s the letter we received outlining the details.

Greetings from Google!

As you may have heard, Google is hiring! 2011 is slated to be one of our most aggressive hiring years, and we are working to find top talent. Over the past few years HBCU graduates have made significant contributions to Google’s success. We are excited to continue our relationship with HBCUs and hire their very best graduates to join our team.

Are you a non-engineering major from a graduating class between 2006-2010? If so, this event is for you! The Google “Alumni Party” will give participants a glimpse into what we have to offer here at Google. You will hear from current Googlers, receive information on positions that are currently open, and have the chance to speak with recruiters who will be on-site to answer your questions. Additionally, this is a great time to network, not only with Googlers, but also with peers. Below is more information on the Atlanta* event and the registration process:

Date: Wednesday March 30, 2011Time: 7PM EST
Location: Google Atlanta Office (10 10th Street NE Suite 600 Atlanta, GA 30309)
Attire: Business Casual

There are a few things you need to do before you can be confirmed for the event. It is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Complete THIS FORM to provide us with a little more information about you

2. Please e-mail your resume to sodavis@google.com

3. Check your e-mail for event confirmation**

*Unable to attend the Atlanta event? No worries. We will be hosting our second event in Washington DC on Thursday April 7. Please e-mail sodavis@google.com for more information.

**Please note that we have a limited number of seats for this event, so you must receive a confirmation for attendance

I’ve always been a huge fan of Gooogle. We run our entire Highbrid Media corporation of the Google platform from GMail to Calendar, Picasa to Google Reader. Its all Illuminati yes, but at the same time giving up a little privacy in exchange for the convenience of total integration is key. Hell even my phone is Google.

I attended a forum last night on Diversity in Social Networking and although Google doesn’t qualify it is the engine driving this space. Essentially, the forum confirmed what I already knew: Minorities are driving this new social revolution…and by a landslide. Google obviously understands this and realizes in order to stay relevant they’re going to need to appeal to those tastemakers: The Highbrid Nation. In the end Google’s gonna make googles of money off this initiative but why not benefit from it as well. Its a progressive company with a lot of great idea flow and energy so it might be worth your time even if you’re comfortable at your current spot.

@50cent
If there’s anything we’ve learned about me from hanging around the Nation is that I believe society is way too sensitive. We’re ready to take up arms any and every time someone talks badly about Obama, makes and off color comment but what about mocking catastrophic tragedy? Is THAT off limits?

As the death toll rises in the wake of Friday’s map changing earthquake and subsequent Tsunami, Twitter junkies are incensed by some recent comments made by 50 Cent. We get it. 50′s entire shtick is based around controversy. He’s only relevant as long as he’s pissing someone off. Many of his fans have come to expect that and appreciate the banter as humor but feel this time he went to far.

50 Cent: Hawaii under a watch this shit is crazy. I can’t swim

50 Cent: Now they are saying they know it’s gonna hit the west coast damn.

50 Cent: Its all good Till bitches see there christian louboutins floating down da street shit gone get crazy

50 Cent: Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoes from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol.

I’ll admit when I first heard whispers that 50 had gotten reckless on Twitter I was surprised to find the comments were this mild. Insensitive? Yeah perhaps. I wouldn’t say them but does 50 deserve injunctions and for his music to be boycotted? I don’t think so. Hell, by the looks of the sales statistics from his last few projects one could assume his fans are already doing that. SOUND OFF: Were 50 Cent’s Controversial Tweets about the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami insensitive?

an abortion can cost a ballin’ niggas up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin’ bitches be getting pregnant on purpose. #STRAPUP my niggas!”

@KanyeWest
In other abortion news, Kanye West does what he does best…stick his foot in his mouth. In a recent Twitter rant Kanye decided to share his own beliefs about “niggas”, gold diggers, pregnancy and abortion.

@KanyeWest “an abortion can cost a ballin’ niggas up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin’ bitches be getting pregnant on purpose. #STRAPUP my niggas!”

This guy might just be the only subject even the most experienced crisis management PR firm would stay clear of. Twitter is like this dude’s subconscious. If the rest of us often speak before we think, this guy tweets before he does either. Naturally the tweet caused an uproar and his followers weren’t pleased. Many fired back in objection, some retweeted with commentary, some unfollowed and follower and singer Lily Allen, (can’t say I know who she is but she) had this to say:

@lilyroseallen: “never has a tweet put me in such a bad mood,” she tweeted earlier today in reference to West’s post. “This is wrong on so many levels.”

This lead to a clarification I guess of sorts?

@KanyeWest “It ain’t happen to me but I know people.”

That’s about as close to an apology as we’ll get on this one. But hey give the guy Highbrid brownie points for staying real. I mean lets disect this. There’s obviously nothing wrong with “Strapping Up.” I mean I encourage it. Abortions…yeah depending on who you are might cost “a ballin nigga” a lot of money. “Gold Digging Bitches?” Yeah there are a few of them out there… are there a few of them out there? I’m sure! Its just the overall concoction of mixing all these comments collectively that makes this statement toxic. Match that with the author and viola…you have major controversy.

More competition keeps Google and Yahoo innovating in the quest to provide us better content, faster & more efficiently

Today’s announcement that Aol has purchased the Huffington Post is sending shockwaves through the online publishing industry. The one time news blog which was initially funded in 2005 with as little as $1 million dollars was purchased by the online giant for $315 million in cash. Under the provisions of the deal, HuffPo’s founder, and now extremely rich woman, Arianna Huffington will stay on as the President and Editor-in-Cheif which will mean she will manage ALL content delivered by AOL.

“By combining HuffPost with AOL’s network of sites, thriving video initiative, local focus, and international reach, we know we’ll be creating a company that can have an enormous impact, reaching a global audience on every imaginable platform,” Arianna Huffington said in a blog posting Sunday evening.

Aol & Huffinton Post Crew one big Happy Family

The announcement comes a week after Rupert Murdoch announced the release of his new iPad app called The Daily which is basically a virtual USA Today with no official city to call home. This kind of movement within the corporate online space is something to be mindful of and may cause !Yahoo and Google, leaders in the growing online news publication space to make a move in response.

In the end it SHOULD mean that the way in which we are delivered quality news content not only gets better but faster and more of what we want, less of what we don’t. The Huffington Post has always been a news outlet that prided itself on having no spin, no special interests and could appeal to the growing blog friendly reader while remaining a credible news outlet worthy of citation. The acquisition instantly adds credibility to AOL and should once again put them on par with their competitors.
