Just last week, the pop cultural forces of Terry Richardson, Odd Future and Vice magazine teamed up to produce an eccentric feature piece authored by OF’s Tyler, the Creator. Terry Richardson embraced this opportunity to work with the booming young artists, and as one can imagine the result is intriguingly bizarre. Richardson’s diary provides a behind-the-scenes look into the wacky antics of both Tyler and his Odd Future Wolf Gang that resulted in the production of such an unusual photoshoot. We all know DJ premier and the quality of production hes been giving to his fans for decades, but I think we would all want to know what is his true inspiration. This feature takes us inside the legendary HeadQCourterz studio in New York City where the renowned producer shared with Hypetrak some of his most cherished moments in the music game and beyond.

As I blogged early I was backstage at the Dipset reunion show in NYC at the Best Buy theater in times square on march 26th. I am friends with the Diplomats crew through work and life, and while I was backstage I got spoke to both Jimmy about his new Album Capo releasing tomorrow (shout out to Byrdgang) and Juelz about his new album which he is working on and the new Diplomats album which is in the works as well. Jimmy is real excited about this album dropping tomorrow followed by his new single “Everybody Jones” music video. Juelz on the other hand is still having difficulties getting back into his studio after the recent incident with the police raiding his recording studio. They both are out right now finishing the reunion tour but when they get back they will both still be hard at work making new Dipset jump offs for their fans. Ill keep you guys posted on the word for whats new to come with Dipset…

A couple of weeks back there were some grumblings from the Nation about the level of burn that artist, Nicki Minaj was getting despite not having actually even being rumored to drop an album any time soon. Well it appears she might be on her way as a new music video has surfaced for her “hit” entitled “Your Love” and it’s a winner. Here’s what she had to say about the Asian thematics.

“We wanted to have geisha themes, samurai themes, stuff like that,” Minaj said from the Los Angeles set. “I wanted to tell a love story. It’s just kinda liking a guy, where he’s not really for you to like—the forbidden fruit—and me and this other girl happen to like him and we go to war.”

While I don’t usually post a lot of music videos this one needed some love. This is the new uncensored video from Flo Rida. Looks like he tried to bring back the days of those late night BET Uncut music videos. Did he succeed?

I’ll be honest with yall.  I’ve tried watching this video about 3 times and have to turn it off because I feel angry and ready to break something.  The random images from the bloody skull, the drumming off beat, the random horse?  I’m no expert on imagery so maybe there’s some historical meaning behind this all but to me it feels like a collection of random scenes put together by a demon.

Viral Video Embeds have all but killed the days of TRL and Rap City but it has certainly beefed up the caliber of explicit music videos available online.  I equate it to the success that HBO has endured over its network counterparts simply because they’re not constricted by a PG-13 rating.  I think its a tool hip hop hasn’t exploited enough of.  If indeed its all about misogyny, sex and vulgar lyrics why not make use of it.
