The White House has since released a statement vehemently denying the allegations.  But should they have to?  I believe the argument is that at a time when many Americans are cash strapped the otherwise very thrifty clothing shopper, Michelle Obama shouldn’t be splurging for bedtime goodies.  But on the flip side, Valentines Day IS coming up and her man has worked rather hard this past year fighting with Republicans in congress, can’t the brother get a little love? SOUND OFF Should Michelle Obama be allowed to drop 50G’s on Lingerie?

I always thought that Jenni was a little on the…. musty side but I must say she’s looking…. ready……for Halloween.  SMASH or PASS?!

Of course this isn’t the first time Serena’s been reprimanded by the USTA.  In 2009, Williams’ berated a line judge in a profanity laced tirade leading to an immediate $10,000 fine from the U.S. Open and later a record $82,500 fine from the USTA. At the time, Grand Slam committee director Bill Babcock said that if Williams committed a “major offense” at a Grand Slam tournament in 2010 or 2011, her fine could be doubled and she would be barred from the following U.S. Open.  Since this was considered a “minor” offense such action wasn’t taken.

But is Serena being treated unfairly?  Is she too sassy for tennis?  too….black?  Men’s doubles player Mike Bryan was fined $10,000 for an “off court” incident after he and brother Bob Bryan lost in the first round but barely made headlines.  Naturally he’s not the caliber of Serena but to not even make headlines?  Lets go as far back as John McEnroe.  He’s still heralded for his over the top displays of protest and defiance.  Instead of a sign of disrespect its always been seen as “passion” for the game.  I’m not sure if its a sexist thing or a racist thing but I thought I’d seek the help of the RDC for a final determination

In keeping with the spirit, the Network flew its most prized assets, the Cast of The Jersey Shore out to L.A. to see and be seen. Hell, why not, its not filming the dysfunctional bunch brave the elements and cabin fever as they ignored a mandatory Hurricane Irene evacuation would have been of interest to viewers right? None the less, despite the missed opportunity, the group made cameos throughout the broadcast sporting some interesting fashions which made me wonder. Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Aaliyah’s tragic death.  When the singer born Aaliyah Dana Haughton died in a plane crash in the Bahamas 10 years ago the world was quite different than it is today.  If you’ll remember back, it was only days before 9/11 an event which overshadowed her life celebration.

Her death was even more tragic because at the tender age of 22, she was just starting to come into her own.  She was finally clear of the bizarre pedophile-esque relationship with R. Kelly and settling into was, at least outwardly, a far more healthy one with Dame Dash.  Her beauty was one that was transitioning from one of teenage cuteness to graceful sex appeal.  And perhaps most important she was in the midst of a breakout year that included her critically acclaimed third album and launching a promising film career.  Then suddenly while filming the video for her still smash hit single “Rock the Boat,” she was taken from us along with eight others.

I hate to compare her to BIG but she had that impact on the game.  She was able to, at a very young age, find a way to marry unmistakeable talent with a sexiness that wasn’t skanky.  She didn’t need to show her pum pum for a cat like myself to dream of a chance encounter.  Sure Beyonce and Rihanna since have tried but have fallen short in carrying the mystique and pristine innocence that surrounded Aaliyah.  She’s still missed.  Here are some of my favorites

Gossip blogs are reporting that in a classy move, Ray J (who was notably left off the guest list) text her before the wedding on Saturday with the message: ”And to think you really have me to thank for all this .”

Its harsh but true.  Without dropping the draws, she wouldn’t be a household name.  That said, don’t you think if not royalties, Kim should throw Ray J a diamond crusted bone or two for making this all happen?  If it weren’t for his bright idea, Bruce Jenner would be the most popular name in the fam.

I know she’s been off the scene for a hot minute with little peeks here and there but she’s back in a very big way in the DJ Premier LACED “Ghetto Dreams”. In the video which seems to center around a drug induced slumber, Common and Nas enter another realm inhabitted by none other than Bria Myles, who spends the entire video walking around in skimpy goodness. They should have stopped there because after she hits the screen its almost impossible to pay attention to the storyline of Common and Nas playing cat burglars. Hahaha. Enjoy.
There aren’t many things I love more than Sharp lyrics, Primo and Bria Myles and the new music video from Common & Nas. I know Chef (apparently) has taken the summer off but as I fashion myself a dabbler in the Fat Back as well I can appreciate the fine wine that is Ms. Bria Myles.

I didn’t peep last season but this one is of particular interest as the roundly voluptuous former plus-size top model contestant,  Toccara Jones will be the latest in a long line to search for Mr. Right (now).  If you liked the Flavor of Love franchise, it sounds like the same ish.

I never really thought of Tocarra as plus size but then again I don’t see most of these high fashion models as having ANY size at all.  While I’m sure most of you probably wouldn’t go on TV in order to prove it, do you think Tocarra could be the woman for you? SOUND OFF!

This morning I saw the new cover of Complex Magazine featuring the gold standard of Diva 2.0, Ms. Beyonce Knowles Carter.  For some reason I thought it an odd selection.  Sure Complex is a magazine that has reported on and featured her before and is heavily involved in the urban fashion space which is Bey’s sweet spot but in the end Marc Ecko created it to be an Urban, Hip Hop book .  It got me to wondering… Is Beyonce still Hip Hop.

Sure she’s married to the prince of the culture and is the “hottest chick in the game wearing his chain” but what game?  You’d be hard pressed to find a straight member of the Nation with a Beyonce album on his iPod or going to a concert without a shorty.  I think however there was a time, especially when with Destiny’s Child that Beyonce appealed to a more urban audience.  If you think about it Kelly Rowland does.  She’s all over the Rap remixes, singing hooks.  She’s sexy, she’s urban, she’s hip hop.

The truth is with Bey, while we might have always have been conditioned to believe that she appeals to us, only does so in a sexual nature not as a brand.  She’s reaching the “Single Ladies” who should had “a ring [put] on it.” and the gay community that emulates her divadom.

Then again, on the flip side I think about the changes of the culture as I write this and wonder….Maybe Hip Hop IS more feminine today, appealing to a more Homosexual culture.  Its certainly more welcoming to the gay community in fashion and in lifestyle.  But wanted to gather your thoughts.  SOUND OFF: Is Beyonce Still Hip Hop.

But as she tells the New York Post, she’s turned over a new leaf.  According to Foxy, she now embraces Inga Marchand not the hardended, sexy “Foxy Brown” character she’s created over the last 15 years.

“The Foxy character and Inga Marchand are two different people,” she continues. “My fiancé calls me Inga. No one around me calls me Foxy. I go to church every Sunday. I go to Bible study every Friday night. I’m saved.”

Among church and looking to get married, Foxy shares other new changes in her life including a new album.

“Of course I want to release another album,” she says. “It’s not that I’ve been twiddling my thumbs. I’ve had major setbacks.”

One of those major setbacks was becoming temporarily deaf, due to sensorineural hearing loss, a rare viral infection.  He hearing was partially restored in 2006 by surgery.  She now hides a hearing aid behind her weaves.

“I lost one of my senses, and that’s the hardest thing I went through,” she says. “It’s a miracle I got it back. I can hear running water again. I can hear my mother say, ‘I love you.’ I’m on an assignment from God.”

Everyone goes through that period in their life where they just get tired of sex and opt for celibacy…….no?  Fellas? No?  Ok well maybe its just the ladies…….. no?  Ladies?  You either?  Ok well, Jill Scott says she’s been on the wagon for some time now and the hormones are raging.  She recently told Us Weekly she’s willing to give up the buns to someone special.  What’s special?  Well you gotta at least make to the fifth date.

“The whole celibacy thing, you could throw that out the window. That’s over,” she said. “I don’t have physical intimacy until at least the fifth date. So I can get to know who I’m dealing with and they can get to know me. It just gives me a chance to get to know the person.”

So why did she go cold turkey in the first place? Was it a conscious decision or just due to a busy schedule and no eligible prospects? She says that after her ex and baby’s father, drummer Lil’ John Roberts, she needed some time to learn about her but she’s ready to get back on the meat slab.

“I’m a single girl in the world, but if I don’t have some standards then I can be making the same mistakes that I made in the past. I do want love. Genuine love. And sometimes sex can get in the way.”

Anyway, To celebrate Beyoncé took a stage which oddly enough for those who are unfamiliar with the geography was about 4 miles east of where the fireworks took place to perform”Best Thing I Never Had” and “God Bless The USA”.  I was waiting for Kanye and his “All of the Lights” but maybe I was the only one who thought it was appropriate.

Gotta hand it to the brilliant and intentionally appearling to be clueless Kris Jenner.  Shes’ the brainchild behind the empire.  She’s the true success story.  But she’s gone a bit far.  The TV Show was cool for a hot minute but now she’s managing Lamar Odom, they’ve got perfume lines, 3 TV shows and its like a bunch of what?  I’m embarrased for Americans that we even consider such fabricated foolishness entertaining.

Anyway, I digress.  Looks like Kim is proving all the haters wrong by taking her Fat Back and I’m sure the cameras in tow to the doctor to actually X RAY the assets to prove there’s no augmentation.  I personally never thought so anyway. I  mean its nice but I’ve seen plenty of other white girls with the same gifts.  Its honestly the hips that make it look even more defined.
