CAPTION THIS: The Castros #DNC2012

Posted by Juan

First a Hussein in the White House now two Castros on stage at the DNC? What’s this world coming to?

It wasn’t that long ago (July 2004) when a little-known Illinois junior state senator in Illinois delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention channeling “the audacity of hope.”  Just four short years later, that same Barack Obama took the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States and the first African American.

Last night  a similarly little-known mayor from Texas, followed in the same footsteps.  Julian Castro, the mayor of San Antonio, took  the stage in Charlotte and won it.  One of the youngest politicians, (37) to be keynote speaker, he became the first Latino to address the Democratic convention and some believe is on the fast track to the parties nomination in four years.

He had a good speech also.

  2. Malcolm says:

Ya, fair or not, you’re going to have a hard time winning the white house with a name like castro.
    .
Kind of like the guy who was popular a few years back… he last name was actually Whitehouse. That would have been so confusing it probably killed any chance he had.
