You Now Owe the Government $140,000

Posted by Malcolm

We are debt slaves

Tonight, while the democrat convention gets into full swing, the national debt will cross the $16 trillion mark.

This means that if you are a taxpayer, your share of the debt now tops $140,000.

There are a lot of people to blame.  Both the democrats and republicans have, over the years, done their share to steal your money.  Both have learned how to steal from you, then bribe you by promising to give you a little back.

Congress is full of members who entered the congress poor but will leave millionaires. But there’s no use complaining, of course, because people like you and I don’t matter; except (of course) as a pocketbook ever open to be looted by our elected officials.

Just to put it into perspective… if you were to get a loan to pay back your share of the national debt, you would need to pay $897 per month for the next 30 years.

And make no mistake… we will have to pay back the money eventually.  And the longer we wait, the harder it will be to pay it back.  The world is broke, even the Chinese and the Saudi’s are running out of money.  What will happen when we wake up one day and discover that no one will give us the bridge loan that we are constantly taking?

Ronald Reagan once joked that the most dangerous eight words in the world are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help’.

He may have a point here.

In politics news, the republicans have posted a very effective ad.

In 1980, Ronald Reagan ran with the simple message ‘are you better off now than you were 4 years ago’.  The Romney campaign is finding that this message also works today.

I think Romney should study Regan more answer why a Bus driver should pay in percentage more in taxes than he does. Or someone should ask where is the money going if it is not going to the hands of the rich?

    • Malcolm says:

I think most people would agree that a bus drive should pay less than a millionare in taxes.

But the question turns into… how much is enough? As someone who owns their own business, I’ve paid in excess of 50% a few years in taxes.

If the money was going for something good, most people wouldn’t mind. But to throw away money year after year on things that don’t work is just insane.

What is sad is that most folks don’t even know that The 16th Amendment was never even properly ratified by all of the States meaning that in reality the only people that the federal government can legally collect income taxes from are federal employees and foreign workers earning wages in the US.

And just how much have we spent abnd continue to spend on wars for Israel?:

  3. NTS5 says:

Or the cost of having troops in places like Okinawan.

    • jimmyt says:

Yep, all over really. Remember all those bases they closed here citing the “peace dividend”? Sure would be nice to bring the troops home and house them here where local economies could really use the boost.

I think Japan is a unique situation. Under the constitution we set up for them after the war, they are prohibited from having a military.

Hey Malcolm, you know what would be cool to do? Make a comparitive list of campaign promises and the outcomes of such, of the last ehhh five Presidents, thats back to Reagan. Compare things like national debt, unemployment, poverty levels, gas prices, inflation before and after each presidency. That should put everything into perspective about on who did what, and the trends this country is ascending/ decending into.

  5. KEith says:

This is a great article makes a lot of good points. Congress is full of crooks most have been in office longer than most of us have been alive. I dont understand how these people keep getting elected

Even though we may not currently be better off now than we were four years ago, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be before Obama’s time is up. He still has some time left, think positive. Plus, those Republicans work against him, which makes it harder for him to get anything done, jus’ my opinion. PEACE!!!
