MSG/ Knicks Can’t Resist Posting Racist Promo Graphic of Cash Cow, Jeremy Lin

Hey Fam. I know I promised to stay away for the week but I saw this and just had to get your opinion. Here in New York everyone is going ape shit over the New York Knicks new point guard sensation, Jeremy Lin. Its Super Lin-tendo, Lin-Santity, #Linning…. The list goes on. But in the true spirit of the fundamental lack of disrespect that we have for one another, MSG, the parent company of the Knicks decided to throw a major wet blanket on the party by making fun of its cash cow.
This is the same company that owns Cablevision (oh by the way) that has received a huge assist (no pun intended) from Lin feaver in its dispute with Time Warner Cable Inc. MSG has reported a 52 percent spike in ratings during Lin’s starts compared to the rest of the season, and Saturday’s win over the Minnesota Timberwolves was the most-watched game of the season. Shares of Madison Square Garden Co. rose $1.17, or 3.8 percent, to close at $32.32 Monday. Earlier they peaked at $33.18, the highest point since MSG’s stock began trading in January 2010. The shares are up over 10 percent since Feb. 3, the day before Lin first saw significant playing time.
So why would they take their prized possession, more valuable than Mello & Staudamire combined and perhaps even more than Pat Ewing and turn him into a racist fortune cookie joke? I’ll let the RDC sink its teeth into this one. Ok back to work. I’ll check in on y’all and see what you think.

It’s dumb but I don’t find it particularly racist. Of course I’m so fed up with the over sensitivity we’ve developed and PC overkill not much of this silly type of stuff offends me too much anymore. A lot like the whole GLAAD thing with Roland Martin. To me the true definition of racism is the belief that someone else is somehow inferior based solely on their race not some dumb off color joke etc; that we all participate in.

As far as advertising goes… as of 2010, 12.6% of the American population is black. What percentage of black people in advertising would you consider ‘fair’. Once again, if you go to Detroit, it’s different. Most if not all local advertising is oriented to the black consumer (which is fair since, like I said, 81% of Detroit is black)

I’m not saying that you don’t have valid points. But this racial separation, mutual distrust and years of racial anger have destroyed the city of Detroit in a little less than 40 years.
