Georgia Slaves only pick 7 Apples Per Tree
Another classic dumb ass move
Beaver Ridge Elementary in Norcross, GA recently decided to attempt a ‘cross curricular activity’; where questions in their math class followed lessons being taught in their social studies class.
And that’s apparently the last good idea they had. Question in a recent 3rd grade math test include:
Each tree has 56 oranges. If 8 slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?
Or this…
If Frederick got two beatings per day, how many beatings did he get in one week?
Or this…
Frederick had 6 bags of cotton. If each basket held 5 pounds, how many pounds did he have altogether?
Parents are outraged. The media is outraged. All of us are outraged.
Sometimes you really have to wonder what’s wrong with people. How did this NOT get stopped before it happened?

Would it have been any less offensive if the question had been: ‘one slave can hatchet 3 overseers an hour. How long will it take to clean a farm that has 12 overseers?

To be fair, anyone who builds a business model around one person picking only 7 apples has more problems than just inventory leakage.
