Happy Brand New Year. A Look Back on 2011
With the help of Skillz annual “Rap Up”
What’s up Nation. Miss me? My fault for being a little MIA. It was a very trying year with ups and downs professionally and the death of two very close loved ones. I needed a break from everything but I’m back and ready to make ’12 the best year yet. Are you with me? Shout to Malcolm for holding me down while I was away. That’s my white brotha from another mother. Stay warm up there in the D.
But before we can get there we gotta wrap up 2011. Instead of me doing it I’ll pass the baton to my boy from Va. Skillz. Perhaps one of the most slept on lyricist of all time whose career now has spanned several decades, Skillz has made it his tradition to drop an annual wrap-up freestyle recapping the year in music, pop culture, politics and world events.
In this year’s installment he touches on everything from Beyoncé’s pregnancy to Ray J’s beef with Fabolous to Maybach Music to the death’s of Bin Laden, Amy Winehouse, Heavy D and others. So without further ado….
