R Kelly hints at new ‘Closet’ Series

TMZ reports star has 32 new chapters

R Kelly, caught on the street by TMZ the other day, reported that he has 32 new chapters of his Trapped in the Closethip hopera’ written; and is ready to start filming once he can arrange funding.

This is not the first time he’s talked about bringing back the series. Back in 2010 he talked about it. At the time, he had 15 new chapters ready, so he’s been busy in the last year adding to it.

If you’ve never seen it before, you can start here.

Not being up on music, I have to admit that until yesterday, I never actually LISTENED to the series. But I have to tell you, as a movie buff, it may well be the best music video series of the last decade.

There are so many good things about the series it’s hard to do anything but just hang on and enjoy the ride. There’s comedy, drama, satire on the world in general. It has it all.

In telling a story over a series of connected songs, Kelly uses a technique best used previously in The Who’s album Tommy, and makes it his own.

For me, the true mark of its success has to be the fact that I actually watched all 22 parts of it.

The effect on the viewer is similar to the 1981 Wallace Shawn film ‘My Dinner with Andre”, which takes place entirely over a dinner attended by the films only two characters. Like Andre, the viewer reaches a point where they’re just about to give up on it, only to be sucked back in by another plot twist.

So what do you say nation? Are you ready to sit through another 32 parts of ‘Trapped in the Closet’?

You would have to trap me in a closet and glue my eyes open for me to watch the entire series, especially in one sitting.

I’ll have to admit, I was feeling the same way about halfway through. I stuck it out because that’s what I do, I stick things out.
      .
32 new chapters might be too much.
      .
Then there’s the problem of having the same ‘music’ playing for that long. I found myself walking around the house afterwards, narrating my own life in third person to the same tune…. Malcolm goes to the refrigerator… pulls out a bottle of diet coke… says sh*t, I need more diet coke… puts on his coat and goes to the car… drives to the store and buys more diet coke.
      .
Lol.. same thing happens every time I see the movie “On the Beach”. I wind up singing waltzing matilda for a week

Yes, I’m ready to see more of the Trapped In The Closet Series. I’ve seen all of the other chapters, 32 more won’t hurt anything. PEACE!!!

lol… I’m starting to get the feeling that I’m the only one who appreciates the cinematic value of ‘trapped in the closet’.
      .
Of course it would help if I wasn’t 10 years behind schedule. If I ever hear that Macarena song, I’ll be in trouble for sure.
