If Axelrod’s ‘Monkey Climbs’ Quote Were Directed at Obama Would It Be Racist?

Posted by Juan

BUTT could a conservative get away with the same analogy? Let the RDC convene!

@BarackObama

At a news conference Tuesday, chief Barack Obama strategist David Axelrod suggested Republican frontrunner Newt Gingrich long history with voters not to mention his “penchant for provocation,” may wear thin in the weeks ahead.  But its his interesting quote he said he first heard from a Chicago Alderman that is drawing attention and well…laughs.

“The higher a monkey climbs up a pole the more you see of his butt,” Axelrod said. “The Speaker is very high up the pole right now and we’ll have to see if people enjoy the view.”

I personally think its funny and quite accurate and so do many others.  However, is that only because its directed at a white conservative?  What if it were a Gingrich aide making the same comment about President Obama?  Would it be racist?  What say you Racial Determination Committee?

Would any prominant conservative be able to get away with this quote? Is it a double standard?

  1. Mr. Bad Guy says:

Hell yeah it’s a double standard!!! Say those word came out Mr. Niggerheads, in regards to President Obama it woud be a end to their candidacy.

  2. E.L.Diaz says:

As well as it should be a double standard. Monkey is the least of the offensive/degrading words that whites have called Black people in this country. All these powerful words used to demean and demoralize Black people have worked in conjunction with the chains, whips and ropes! So, today, we (society) HAVE NOT “evolved” to the point where the reference is harmless. When a Caucasian says it to/about a Black person, my mind automatically goes to some nasty, tobacco-chewing, dirty-ass, sweaty, stank white overseer cracking a whip on a broken down Black person’s back, “get up and work, you lazy monkey!” “ain’t nothing wrong with you.” “You better clear this field/dig this ditch/pick all this cotton, or you gonna meet all your monkey ancestors today.” ….. That’s why white people should NEVER call a Black person a monkey. It’s not like racism or the enduring effects of slavery have been eradicated.

    • 2NA$$TEE says:

Plus it’s very very dangerous 4 a KKKasper call a black person a monkey some KKKracka could get hurt real bad. Just say’n. What up E.L.

      • E.L.Diaz says:

What up, brutha?! Notice how white people act surprised after they get their ass beat for calling us out of our names? They always look like they didn’t “do nothing wrong”… LMAO!

    • Juan says:

So what you’re saying is its almost retribution for our time in captivity that African Americans should be able to verbally abuse White folks? Reparations! lol.

      • 2NA$$TEE says:

XXXactly!!! I would never just roll up on a white person and insult them as we have been done over time but if 1 came at me sideways he will would feel the wrath and his wife, aunt, sister, cuz’n etc would feel deez nutz!!

  3. Malcolm says:

Mr Bad Guy is right… had it been Perry who said it, he would be finished.
    .
But since Axelrod is a democrat, and working for the President, he’ll get a free pass.
    .
Because we all know… democrats are automatically innocent and republicans are automatically guilty.
    .
They might not actually come out sand SAY something, but we know that their THOUGHTS are guilty, don’t we?

    • Mr. Bad Guy says:

Maybe not guilty, it does make them insensitive, maybe ignorant, but definitely out of touch with race relations. As E.L. stated when certain things are said or reffered to it takes a person to a dark place in the past where calling someone “a monkey” was rooted in racist and oppressive agression.

  4. Malcolm says:

    Correction…
    .
Axelrod will get a pass in this specific case because the comment was made to a white person, and is therefore not inherently racist.
    .
However… had he made the comment about Cain; THAT’s where he would have got a free pass because he’s a democrat and working for the president.

    • 2NA$$TEE says:

Hitler Bush got a pass 4 being a War crimnal so 1 good pass deserves another. RepubliKKKlans get a pass, all the FAKE apologies I have being hearing from RepubliKKKlans and Pee Party People who have been talking mad shit since Obeezee has been in the Outhouse, hell FOX NEWS gets a pass every hour on the Hour.

    • Juan says:

Malcolm I’m sensing some sarcasm lol.

  5. NTS5 says:

When White folks are degraded and called monkeys and painted in White faces then we could talk. Until then it is not raciest because the comment was not made to be made in a racist term. If he said Redneck or others then we could talk again.

    • Juan says:

Dave Chappelle used to play white face all the time. I always wondered why no one was up in arms. Honestly because I think white folks are just less sensitive. Maybe its an aire of entitlement, a sense of superiority where there’s no need to entertain such debate. Maybe white folks are just more equipped to laugh at themselves.

      • Nts5 says:

No that is still one person playing white face and no sees that racist. It will be a hard sell for this to be called racist sine the saying wasn’t racist to begin with. This country was built on race discrimination period. Black folks have a history being called monkeys, niggers, jungle bunnies and then some. Most Rebulican states are southern states that … Wait for it held and approved of slavery and still to this day holds a lot of racest feelings towards black folks and others. It is not helped by the current republican Tea party and it’s signs showing monkeys and other racist things. So yes Rebuplicans have a long way to go to be seen as not Racist. And then you say but there are Black Republicans. And I say there were slaves that helped the slave master whip and capture slaves.

No I don’t believe that the whole Republican party is Raciest but I think the element is a lot stronger in that group than in the democrats . Similar to how a Jew feels about living in Germany. Sure there are some there but you can’t me that if I say a racial slur about a Jew in Germany in a joke format it would be taken lightly .

        • jimmyt says:

Most Republican states are southern states? That statement is a bit out of touch with reality just as is equating Republicans with racist and Democrates as not. The brainwashing at work.

          • 2NA$$TEE says:

No Jimmyt u r the 1 drinking the Pee Party Tea laced with “The RepubliKKKlan Party Loves Blacks drugs” neither Demon..crats nor RepubliKKKlans give 2 fucks about u or me. Yet it seems RepubliKKKlans are most likely 2 “h8″ blacks the most just peep out the 2008 “ERECTION” and the upcoming 2012 “ERECTION” I call it that bcuz we are ALL going 2 get fucked real talk.RepubliKKKlans used 2 actually have some compassion 4 blacks back in the late 1800′s but the shit shifted in the 20th century with the KKK mentality and ideology they still practice 2 this very day . Watch in 2012 u will see all Obama=monkey signs,Obama is a terrorist,ANTI-CHRIST,Nooses,Tralier Trash RednecKKKs talking about “He is not from AmeriKKKa”!! “He is from place called Hawaii”!! Hell when he was born it was not part of this great God fearing, christian, NASCAR-watching,Wal-Mart shopping, skoal dipping, cow tipping, Bass Pro shop coupon clipping, land that I loooove call AmeriKKKa. “In rednecKKK voice”.

          • NTS5 says:

Ok lets put it to you this way. How many Southeren states are Democratic? Yes there are Democrats and Republicans in every state. But As Far as I count I have Alabama
            Texas
            Mississippi
            South Dakota
            South Carolina
            Montana
            Kentucky
            Indiana
            Georgia
            North Carolina
            Tennessee
            Arizona
            Louisiana
            Virginia

And by saying this, i am not saying that there are no other states that are Republican but the fact that it is most southern states are Republican.

  6. 2NA$$TEE says:

O shit u should have known I was going 2 get on the HNRC Highbrid Nation Racial Commitee.
The comment was kind of funny no Richard Pryor shit mind u but funny still. Funny how xxxcuse the xxxpression….but KKKasper always compares Obama 2 monkeys or if u notice blackmen in General, yet most scientist will say all humans come from monkeys or apes so that does include all KKKaspers in AmeriKKKa. They compared Hitler Bush aka “Curious George” 2 a monkey so I’m very happy with that true statement.

  7. Malcolm says:

    @ Juan…
    .
No sarcasm, just stating the facts.
    .
Democrats are considered innocent until proven guilty; republicans are considered guilty until proven innocent (and even when proven innocent, still guilty because we all know how they are).
    .
The latest example… MSNBC claiming that Romney is pro-Klan because of a comment he made.
    .
    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/12/14/msnbc_likens_romney_to_the_kkk_with_his_keep_america_american_slogan.html
    .
Now mind you… we don’t know if Romney is aware that this phrase was used almost 100 years ago; but what does that matter?
    .
So… MSNBC accuses Romney of being linked with the Klan. No real evidence; no real way of proving his innocence.

    • Mr. Bad Guy says:

“MSNBC claiming that Romney is pro-Klan because of a comment he made.” And that comment was similar to a slogan used by the KKK. SO, he kinda is guilty of something. He did say it. If President Obama said the words “Power to the People” during his candidacy the Republicans would be linking him the Black Pather Party, claimimg the Assata Shakur and Mumia Abu Jamal was his cousins, and swear that he uses Bobby Seale style barbecue sauce at EVERY meal. SO don’t sit here and say that the accusations are or would be one sided. Because either side would use whatever handed to them to defame another candidate. Look how far people went to link Obama with Bill Ayers or that Preacher guy (forgot his name, like he matters). Now I’m not arguing if there was a link or not. I’m just stating how the opposition would use ANYTHING to get a leg up in the polls, no matter how far fetched or how far along the six degrees of separation.
      .
I think as an elected candidate of any office, nothing you say should sound anything like any extremist group, wheteher that group is the KKK, The Black Panther Party, or Hamas. Because at that point you are alienating the voters by race and potentially dooming your candidacy.

        • E.L.Diaz says:

Can you please explain your point system? How come I only got a 10 and Mr. Bad Guy got a 200? WTH is going around here?!

          • Malcolm says:

If you ask me, I think you lost points because your name sounds ethnic.

          • E.L.Diaz says:

            DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!

          • NTS5 says:

The way the point go… If I am feeling what you are saying and agree over 100% you will get that. But If I’m in a festive mood and feeling what you are saying i will give out double the points. but if am only feeling some of it or am in not such a great mood then you get anything from -1 up <75.

            LOL
            I'm Ethnic

          • Mr. Bad Guy says:

My real name is VERY “Ethnic”. Arabic first, Swahili Middle, Hispanic (sounding) last. Would my “score” be any different if I used my real name? Lol, this is silly.

          • NTS5 says:

I don’t know Mr.Bad Guy….. I think I would give you more points for more Ethnic names. You know i have a quota to give out 2x the points if you have a more ethnic feel to your name.

    • Malcolm says:

MSNBC has apologized for trying to link Mitt with the Klan, and Al Sharpton has signed off on it, so we know it’s OK.
      .
      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/15/msnbc-romney-kkk_n_1150597.html

      • Mr. Bad Guy says:

What!?! Al Sharpton is involved??? Now you know something is afoot!!!! LOL!!! When the hell did Al Sharpton become nominated as the voice of all things racially controversial? Did we really need him to weigh in on this? Why did we need his head nod?

        • Malcolm says:

How dare you not acknowledge that Al is king of all black people. That’s why he’s Captain African-American

          • Mr. Bad Guy says:

I sense sarcasm…..(I have been learning.) Not to steal Juan’s soapbox but for Al Sharpton to be remotly considered anything close to a civil rights leader, he will have to dissolve at least ONE act against someone’s civil rights. Just one. Until then……. (Giving Juan back his soapbox.)

        • E.L.Diaz says:

Yeah, he took over for the deposed Jessee Jackson as the official spokesperson/representative for all things black.

          • Mr. Bad Guy says:

But Jesse Jackson could have buried deep in his closet a shirt stained with the actual blood spatter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
While Al Sharpton actually has a shirt stained with chicken grease and Ultra Perm. The two are not the same.

  8. NTS5 says:

No that is still one person playing white face and no sees that racist. It will be a hard sell for this to be called racist sine the saying wasn’t racist to begin with. This country was built on race discrimination period. Black folks have a history being called monkeys, niggers, jungle bunnies and then some. 9. LOL wow racism is alive for sure….lol it seems from previous post that unless African Americans get a chance to reverse the roles and treat white people they way their ancestors were treated there just cant be equality….Smh sounds like a bunch of bitter ass women that got cheated on lookin 4 revenge, now i see why some of my family wont leave the reservation….lol

    • E.L.Diaz says:

LMAO! Great analogy…Personally, I don’t think it’s healthy to want to “make others pay by making them feel what I feel.” I think that kind of bitterness makes people sick……when I was younger, I was very bitter at what Spaniards did to the natives in the Caribbean Islands. I hated Spaniards to the point where I couldn’t be in a room with one. I would leave the room (Really. Happened several times). Then, I began to grow spiritually and mentally and I matured. I understood certain things better and although I still hate what they did, I am not hateful. I don’t treat a Spaniard any different than I treat a stranger from anywhere else…But if I ever have to get into one of them…. :)

    • NTS5 says:

Who said anything about reverse Racism ? Why would i want what has happened to me to happen to someone else?

It just sounds like most White folks are so afraid that they might not be the majority anymore and that most younger people can see right through the old policies as what they were. Older White people are starting to trip. So by just simply stating that makes me want to put them in slavery? No Just fair and equal footing.

Its funny seeing how the Hispanics and Arabs react to what we have been going through since we were brought here.

      • E.L.Diaz says:

It’s funny to see how some Black people act like slavery/discrimination only happened to them. Natives were enslaved and then systematically exterminated before any African set foot on this continent. Latinos from all over face the same discrimination Blacks face today…and like an old white guy asked me once, in Andrews, SC, “What kind of nigger is you?” — he had never seen a “nigger” my complexion.

  10. r pantaleo says:

The good news is, that as conservatives, we know that whoever emerges as our candidate will be far better than Axelrod’s monkey.

    • Mr. Bad Guy says:

      We all have our opinions…..

    • 2NA$$TEE says:

And what monkey from the KKKonservative,Pee Party , RepubliKKKlan do u all have in mind? Jigg Daddy Cain is out , Bacchmann aka Palin Jr. no chance , Mr.Newt Grinch aka The KKKompassionate Klansman maybe, Romney I guess he trying one more time. Ron Paul great ideas but will never get into the Outhouse.
