SOUND OFF: If There WAS NO Obama Who Would You Vote For President?
Since the GOP Electorate’s entire platform is based on Obama, what would it look like if he weren’t around?

Please forgive me for regionalizing because I know we have a lot of visitors from all over the globe but allow me if you will to talk for a second about America. I think I’ve reached a state of embarrassment for my beloved country. Sure this country continues to take part in racial inequity dating back to the Framers of the constitution. Racial disparities still exude in every industry and Economic structures are set up to eliminate the middle class, making the undeserved poorer and the rich to get richer. But honestly, that’s kind of why we love this country isn’t it?
These inconsistances aren’t just isolated to America. We see them all over the world however social oppression is often just a way of life…understood. Here we are placed under the hope (and sometimes delusion) that we can buck and change those norms. Hell, that’s how we got an African American President. Something we all believe could never happen in our lifetime, just a generation removed from the Civil Rights Era debacles.
But with a still struggling economy, a legislative branch at a stale mate on virtually all issues and an approval rating hovering at 40% its not surprising that America is looking into other options in advance of Obama seeking a second term. But what if he weren’t? What if the likes of Gingrich, Mitt, Perry and Citizen Cain were all we had to choose from. What if Hillary or maybe Edwards on the left jumped into the mix? Who would you vote for President if there WERE NO Obama to vote for? SOUND OFF!
FILED IN Editorials, Need to Know

I would have 2 get at Hillary then she seems like the aggressive, wanna be, stab anybody n the back 2 get ahead kind of politician, and unfortunately that’s what’s needed nowadays.
I would never ever vote 4 a Party that hates the very sight of any1 DARKER THAN A NAPKIN but at least u know where u stand or hang with them.Perry KKK, Jig Daddy Cain KKK,Grinch a KKKompassionate KKK member and those r your best from the RepubliKKKlan Party and Grand-Dragons Opressing People(GOP).President Obama is at least at 40% approval rating , now check X President George Hitler Bitch’s approval rating after his 1st 4yrs as KKKommander and Thief.
I regret the fact that I was too young to vote for Nixon.
The more time passes, the more I miss his honesty.
Maybe I’m missing something. How was Nixon honest? He attempted a cover-up and when the pan got too hot, and was about to be impeached, he resigned. An honest person wouldn’t have attempted the cover-up in the first place.
Preach brother Bad Guy Preach. Tricky Dick as Richard Pryor used 2 call him is 1 of the reasons we started having crooked ass Presidents he was the President who started this whole KKKommander and Thief ideology. Check Nixon’s record, Honesty and Nixon is an oxy moron ….it’s like saying balanced economy or tall midget,or United States.
Not true. Nixon did not start the whole crooked president thing.
.
If you look at the Harding administration, he and the boys carved up the budget among themselves.
Since I was born is what I meant xxxcuse . I know Harding and the rest of those Presidents back b4 BLACKS were considered a whole person were shady and crooked just meant the modern day Fuck every1 poorer than 200k types. Nixon c’mon Malcolm .
I am always at odds when I vote. I always feel that I am only voting for the lesser of two/ several evils. As the line goes; the best candidate for office is usually the one who knows better than to run.
.
I would love to see how Colin Powell would do. 1st generation American, Military man, from the Bronx, Republican and from humble beginnings…..
He is the cleanest African American child of immigrants, born and raised in the inner city as you can EVER get. He has seen and lived on both sides of the fence. He has perspective that very few has, and even fewer would admit.
I like him too, but I think he is just too conservative…and I could not bring myself to vote for a Republican….once one is in, all the rest of the boys are coming to da house!
And what’s wrong with voting for a republican?
.
One of these days I’m going to post an article showing why the republicans are the natural party of man, why they are the best for the country, and why conservatism is the recipe for life while liberalism is a philosophy of death.
.
Lol.
Given his background he can’t be “too conservative”……, or maybe his background is what makes hime “too conservative”.
.
In my personal opinon, from personal experience, the higher you climb the social ladder and the economic ladder, the more “conservative” you become.
@ Mr Bad Guy
.
Originally, my ‘I miss Nixon’s honesty’ comment was meant as a joke, lamenting the fact that the crowd of phony’s we have now make Nixon look like pure driven snow.
.
But as I think about it, I feel in the mood to defend Nixon, so here we go.
.
For those who don’t remember the circumstances surrounding the organization of Nixon’s in-house group of spies, put yourself in his position for a moment.
.
Imagine this: You’re in the middle of fighting a war. A low level government employee steals 100 thousand secret military documents, and then the premier newspaper of the country decide to publish them all on the front page.
.
Instead of calling for the arrest of this leaker for treason, your opposition party puts the man up on a pedestal, calls him a hero, and then applauds him as he sells out his country.
.
Add to that the bombings. Not today’s protests where a bunch of rich kids get together and wiggle their figures, we’re talking about real bombs. Real riots.
.
For those who weren’t out in a field getting high listening to rock and roll music, the 60’s and early 70’s were not a time of universal peace and love. They were a dangerous time when no one was sure if real revolution would be the end of this country.
.
Did he cover up? Sure he did, just like nearly all our presidents have at one time or another. Should he have resigned? Yes.
.
But he wasn’t the first (or even the second) president to record his conversations. He wasn’t even in the first dozen of presidents who crossed the line for political gain.
.
If nothing else, I’ll give him credit for resigning in shame rather than put the country through a trial. And you always knew where you stood with him. Downright refreshing.
My bad I have a problem noticing sarcasm, especially when written.
.
But I hear you though, most men would have have to be dragged out the White House kicking and screaming, denying all wrong doing to the grave.
During the 2008 Democratic primary, I created and published a handful of political videos. I’m thinking about starting up the same for the 2012 primary.
.
One of the reasons I want to do it is because people seem to be forgetting what makes a party, and who gets to decide what the party ‘believes in’.
.
The first video idea I’ve been floating around is the idea that some of the best republican presidents we’ve had wouldn’t be able to win the nomination these days.
.
We’ve got Nixon looking like a tree-hugger as he discusses his environmental goals, Eisenhower looking like a peacenick, etc.
.
The small group of well organized ultra-right neocons don’t get to decide for us what a ‘republican’ is. That is decided by its members.
