[RANT] What is this RACIST BS? Former NFL Star Gets 6 Years for Drinking Sizzurp?
YEP For once I’m Pulling the race card! Will the Racial Determination Committee Convene
You know me by now. I’m the last cat to cry racism but this Jonny Jolly situation speaks to a patern the screams of bias, discrimination and yes RACISM! With the NBA still farting around and the college basketball season off to a slow start (save the Coach K record breaking victory) sports fans like myself have been busy with the remote control trying desperately to find something to watch. Wednesday night I settled on the award winning ESPN “Outside The Lines” series.
On this occasion, they were airing a segment on Jolly and his addiction to codeine which he described as his “only friend.” Jolly played for the Packers in 2008 and 2009 but was suspended by the NFL indefinitely in 2010 in advance of the team’s SuperBowl run for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Like our good friend Lil Wayne, Jolly was a fan of the popular concoction of cough syrup and Kool Aid or Soda known to Hip Hop as Purple Drank or Sizzurp or Lean. Unlike those who fashionable partake in the Styrofoam clad beverage, Jolly’s use was part of a desperate personal need.
On Thursday, Jolly was sentenced to six years in prison as a result of violating the terms of his probation. Back in October, Jolly was was charged with possession of drank and tampering with evidence. It was his third drug-related arrest and violated the terms of a probation Jolly received in April.
Six Years?! The dude was balling. He’s a young man with a substance abuse problem. He got caught up in the lifestyle that I’ve critisized on this platform many times before for having swallowed many victims. He was living a life of fame somewhere between the Hip Hop Summer Jam Stage and the NFL Postgame Strip Club Celebrations. This young man needs HELP and quality rehabilitation program, a sit down with Dr. Drew not a six year prison sentence!
This is some racist bullshit! How does a man who has obviously committed a wrong but one of self destruction. He has killed anyone. But yet we have Lindsay Lohan (WHITE) prancing around in and out of court dodging sentences due to “OVERCROWDING” Oh and lets not forget her pop’s, Michael Lohan (WHITE) whose got a serious substance abuse problem that we’ve seen turn violent on television.
Oh Jolly’s not a celebrity you say? What about Ben Roethlesberger (WHITE)? What ever happened to that girl who ALLEGEDLY was sexually assaulted? Meeeh…He’s dodging DB’s and pump faking his way to an AFC playoff run. No but its cats like Plaxico Burress who judges throw the book at for shooting themselves. Sure carrying a weapon into a club is stupid, wearing sweatpants to that club still dumber and carrying that weapon in the waistband of those same sweatpants well yeah its straight foolish but catching a two year bid for shooting yourself? Sheesh!
I get it, Americans love their dogs but you mean to tell me if Tom Brady (WHITE) was convicted of fighting dogs that he would have gone to jail for a few joints like Mike Vick did? I prefaced this rant by admitting I think the race card is pulled way too often so you know when I cry foul, there’s a good reason behind it. I’m not trying to say that Jolly should be excused of his wrong doing but there are murderers walking the street that have done less time. His NFL career came to a close today and worst that’s incredibly sad for the once very promising talent. Even sadder the fact that he was reduced to a footnote on the ESPN news ticker and save The Nation, there are probably few venues where anyone will talk about the disparities and the racial undertones that contributed to this and many other cases.

Though I have never wanted 2 sip on the sizzurp nor any drugs but sex 4 that matter….and I sure don’t think he should do 6yrs but u know how AmeriKKKa is and if they get 2 lock up a Blackman with money 4 drugs that’s a plus. I pull the RACE CARD when it is called 4 and this time AGAIN it’s called 4 . If it were a KKKasper with 500 keyz he would get the same amount of time or less . Instead of prison they should try rehab 4 Mr.Jolly these ppl need help but prison. Once again The “Just-Us” system has failed 2 understand or care . Remember Reagan nor Bush Sr. had 2 do any time 4 their drug dealing with Noreaga “the Real Noreaga” Lol had 2 do some time.

Alcohol kills more people per year than all other drugs combined…only religion and p*ssy kill more! … yet it’s legal…a drunk driver will have to kill someone dwi in order to get a couple of years in prison and probation, and before it gets to that point, have at least 5 dwi (I know this to be fact: I did substance abuse evaluations for years and have been an SA counselor for 16+ yrs)…I share your rage, Juan…although I think I’m more cynical than you (that has come with age and life experience).
To the point: of course it’s racist! white boys get nothing for all the concoctions they come up with and pass around at them rave parties and clubs…kids die at these things and nothing happens…this has been going on for…ever……..this IS some BS……..

I’m white, listen to heavy metal, rap, and alternative, and I’m a doctor. I believe this is unjust as well and could very well be because of race. However the biggest injustice in America is the war on drugs. It allows the system to parole pedophiles, rapists, and violent crime offenders to make room for people that have a disease. The war on drugs puts all the power in criminals hands like the mexican mafia and drug lords in other countries. These types of people are hard core criminals and are involved in human trafficing and murders. Why does America continue to ignore drug/alcohol use as being human nature and some times a disease of human nature? By wasting tax payer money and freeing up real criminals to lock away somebody like Jolly is a crime itself. ALL drugs should be decriminilized and support centers should be extablished to help people that are withdrawling so they don’t commit crimes to get their fix. This would increase jobs and allow law officials to focus on real criminals.

I feel you Juan, you’re jus’ saying that he should’ve gotten less time, since his crime was minor. PEACE!!!
I think the proof is in the numbers. Take any white celebrity convicted of a crime and a black celebrity convicted of the same or similar crime and will find the black celebrity does more time. It could very well be fact.

But as Mr. Bad Guy stays in conflict I have to say this; being of sound mind (somewhat) and from an early age knowing the unfairness within the justice and penal system, I made especially careful keep my nose CLEAN and I implore others to do the same unless you like serving a lengthy jail sentence for something stupid and petty.
This is some B.S. they need to help the dude beat his addiction. Not keep locking him up over and over for some shit they let “Hollywood” walk for this is def some racial shit man i agree completely………SMH
