SOUND OFF: WEAKER BEEF: Perry vs. Romney or Schwartz vs. Harbaugh?
I think I would have rather watched a few rounds of Rockem Sockem Robots.
Well its comforting to know when The Jersey Shore ends its season in the near future you can still get your fill of Beef by watching what may be the latest in a whopping ELEVEN Presidential debates to take place over the course of the next year or so. Last night’s otherwise snoozefest was highlighted by a brief “altercation” between GOP Presidential hopefuls frontrunner (according to who I don’t know, no one has voted yet,) Mitt Romney and Rick Perry.
The two jostled for a few seconds on the topic of illegal immigration when Perry took aim at the Mittman for hiring undocumented workers.
The Texas Govorner, was addressing the number of uninsured children in Texas and suddenly and (I guess) cleverly flipped and bounced it into an attack on Romney’s immigration stance claiming some lawn-care company Romney once used employed illegal immigrants.
“You lose all your standing from my perspective, because you hired illegals in your home,” he said, calling Romney’s immigration policy “the height of hypocrisy.”
SIDENOTE: I wouldn’t be mad at Romney for coming out and admitting it. YOU TRY and find a lawn-care company in this country that DOESN’T employ some questionable folks. What? He’s supposed to ask for Green Cards when evaluating a Green thumb? This is stupid
Bottom line is politics is dogshit. Its kind of like the heavyweight division in boxing. There are no contenders its a joke. What next they’re going to put these debates on Pay-Per-View and sell advertising space on the candidates suits? At the end of the day I’m going to have to go with the Perry/ Romney as the weakest beef. At least with the two Jims we got a great game before hand. The debate was just a waste of time. Back during the 1860 republican convention, there was a three-way fight between Seward, Chase and Bates. All three had strong followers, but all three had so pissed off the supporters of the other candidates, that they would never get their support.
.
However… the supporters of all three agreed that if their candidate wasn’t running, Abraham Lincoln would be their second choice.
.
And as everyone’s second choice, Lincoln was the only one who could get the support of everyone, and he walked out as the nominee.
.
In spite of my long-standing dislike and distrust of Newt Gingrich, I have to confess that he’s the best qualified, the most realistic, and oddly the most moderate of the crowd.
.
And he hasn’t put a foot wrong. While he has (of course) disagreed with every other candidate on one point or another, he hasn’t attacked, and in many cases has come to the defense of the party and other candidates.
.
From a ideological standpoint, I support Herman Cain first and Ron Paul second, but I’m enough of a realist to know that there’s more to getting elected and running a country than strict ideology.
.
Ron Paul cannot get elected. Herman Cain cannot get elected. Mitt Romney can get elected, but he’s just so Hollywood that I can’t see him accomplishing anything.
.
Bachmann is Sarah 2.0, well out of her league and not intellectually equipped. She’ll drop out after the Minnesota primary (which is early).
.
Perry has self destructed. And none of the other candidates have the standing or name recognition to win.
.
As of today (and I know that my opinions change), I’d say it’s going to come down to a fight between Newt and Mitt. If that happens, I’ll have to bite the bullet and support Newt.
I agree, but do you really think at the end of the day people can overlook his religon. Mormonism is sketchy in the eyes of most people and you can thank Bill Paxton for that. LOL.
Probably. The same people who are creeped out by his religion are even more creeped out by the thought that Obama might be Muslim.
.
So, by the lesser of two evils…
But yes, the Perry/Mitt fight was good TV. Perry knows he’s finished, Mitt is starting to get some teeth.
Both are weak beefs, but the two coaches at least looked like they may go….none of the people on that stage will be the next president.
