Nicki Minaj on the Cover of Cosmopolitan
Maybe with Minaj its not about the music. It comes secondary to her brand.

I know I keep reminding you about this guys but remember way back oooooh a year ago when we were all like who is this chick? Why is she so big and she aint even drop an album yet? Well she’s the black version of Lady Gaga, No longer an artist but a brand that everyone’s clamoring to be a part of. When ever you grab the cover of one of the Nation’s most respected fashion magazine’s you’re a heavyweight. Debuting on the cover of the Novemeber 2011 issue of Cosmo is no small accomplishment. She becomes only the SECOND black woman to land the spot in the last three years joining fellow megastar Rihanna who did it twice in July and back in March 2008. Say what you want, its not just about the music with Nicki.

You have to admit, rap skills or not, she knows how to brand herself. Pick your BEST female rapper, MC Lyte in my personal opinion, and they have yet to break through to be covered on Cosmopolitian.

This is such a great milestone in Nicki’s career. What I like is the photographs, that present us a more glamorous Nicki, a simpler Nicki.
