Obama’s Alamo: Is his Jobs Plan Do or Die or is He Already F*cked?
Does it really matter what The President proposes tonight or will the Republicans be against it anyway?

@BarackObama #jobs
So tonight’s Obama’s big night. You all going to be watching? Hmmm…maybe the launch of the crispy new NFL season is just too irresistible. The scheduling conflict punctuates a long line of mishaps, fits, starts and stumbles in the clumsy Obama Administration. While one would imagine given the state of the economy and very alarming rumors of a double dip recession that everyone from right to left would be glued to the TV. But when your Democratic President and cranky Republican congress make Ronnie and Sammi from Jersey Shore look like the Cosby’s the NFL looks far more entertaining.
Hopefully the game won’t be as disappointing as the week has been for Liberals and environmentalist. Earlier this week, the President perhaps permanently pissed off the groups by announcing he was shelving a tough environmental rule in an attempt to win support from Big Business, nanny nanny poo poo teasing Republicans and moderates. His reasoning: he didn’t want to jeopardize the economic recovery with yet another burdensome regulation on business. The Environmental Protection Agency had spent years developing this piece of air quality standards legislation designed to bring smog-causing ozone levels down. This whole idea that tougher environmental standards are “job killer” is laughable. No the fucked up air is a people killer. We likely won’t have people working if they’re all dead from acid rain and smog suffocation and you can’t tax dead people (just their estate.)
But whose surprised by any of this? Since losing the House to the Republicans, President Obama has been busier cutting his agenda in order to appease the Republicans than he has been pushing it. The early signs look like tonight will be no different.
What’s this really all about? Is it his highly criticized team of inexperienced advisers giving more bad advice? Is he scared of meeting Republicans in the schoolyard at 3 o’clock? Or is he really that delusional in thinking that his re-election chances hinge on being more moderate?
Obama is one of the smartest Presidents we’ve had in our history so he should realize by now that no matter what he supports, the Republicans in Congress will oppose it. The GOP will fight at any cost to deny Obama a second term by cutting any chances at him having any landmark legislative victories and are willing to sacrifice the American people to do so. Hell the Republicans now even oppose Obama’s proposed payroll tax reductions that all economists agree would create jobs. Why? Well I guess cause they didn’t come up with idea first. If Obama said lets cut all welfare spending at this point, the Republicans would oppose the bill saying it would cost too much to burn all those food stamps. He can’t win, he should know that and say eff em!
The truth is, judging by the bunch of jamokes the GOP put together to contest Obama’s re-election and his ability to raise boatloads of doe, The President is probably in the clear barring some additional catastrophe. Unfortunately, the only people who will lose in this girl fight is us, the average Joes.
So Obama has nothing to lose tonight over the next 14 or so months he has left in his term. Will he show he has a backbone? Probably not. But I hope he can somehow channel that “Yes We Can” energy he rode into the White House. Abandon the idea that he can unite a nation and instead focus on getting things done.

Good article Juan. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.
.
I’m going to speak in a parable here, so I hope everyone will bear with me.
.
In the corporate world, there is a thing called the ‘visit from the big shot’. The big shot may be ‘Bob’, or ‘Sue’, or any other of a long list of names, but when the ‘big shot’ comes to town, everyone jumps.
.
The shop is cleaned up, everyone is dressed nice. Everyone brushes up on their facts and details (in case the big shot asks them a question). Careers, futures, and life and death itself all rest on how well the visit from the big shot goes. People work extra hours for free in preparation, and everyone holds their breath as the visit happens.
.
Unless you’ve worked in a corporate environment, you can’t understand the power of the visit from the big shot. Shaking their hand is an event. The underling who gets addressed personally becomes a local celebrity for a few weeks. It’s unreal.
.
(note: in my old life, it got so bad that we had spotters who would follow the big shots car, warning locations in his path that he was heading their way)
.
But then the big shot retired, and the new person who took his job was a mid-level manager from our own market. All of a sudden, when the ‘big shot’ came to tour, it was no big deal… because we had known him for years. Even though he was a big shot, he was still “Fred” to us.
.
And with that simple move, the entire organization collapsed. Without the unknowable and all powerful big shot to answer to, the glue that holds an organization together evaporated, and things just went all to hell.
.
Why do I mention this and what does it have to do with tonights speech?…
.
Simple… Obama talks too much.
.
OK, he’s got a speech tonight, and some people are calling it a ‘big speech’. But so what? If I want to see Obama, I can see him every day of the week during one of his other ‘big’ speeches.
.
Like the girl you’ve always wanted to date who suddenly becomes a dud when you finally do date her, there is a certain mystic around the Presidency that has to be maintained.
.
When the President speaks, it has to be important. And when the president speaks too much, it becomes common; and its value is reduced.
.
I’ll watch the speech until football comes on, but I don’t care about the speech because it isn’t going to do any good. Nothing he says tonight can change the way congress acts. And nothing gets done unless congress does it.
The “visit from the big shot” was one reason why I got the f@ck out of corporate retail environment, the other was the pay fucking sucked, no financial progression, just more responsibility. The “visit from the big shot” is similar to what us black folks call shuckin’ and jivin’.
And shuckin’ and jivin’ gets old QUICK!!!
I agree with Malcolm 2 a degree. As I always said we live in a land of Pimps and Hoes , politicians period are the Pimps spitting that “ism” n our earholes and put’n there “mack down” that’s all “Big Speeches” r for, is 2 remind u Hey we have not 4got our “Hoes on the stroll”. As 4 what President Obeezee is going 2 speak on it don’t matter bcuz the RepubliKKKlans will oppose ANYTING Obama proposes. I mean anything he puts out they r going 2 reject period .He could have the best plan 4 a balanced budget and get jobs back etc but since it’s from this “Spook” as Im sure they say under their breath and much more but since this Spook, Coon, is trying 2 tell us good Christian White Pure as the driven snow politicians how 2 run shit and telling us what we should do…. Fuck him we aint helping him get AmeriKKKa back on track. Just w8 till Perry or any other RepubliKKKlan gets in office it’s going 2 be on in AmeriKKKa . Don’t say I didnt warn u .
His 253 billion in tax cuts would be great, the 194 billion in more fed spending, not so much. They gotta stop printing the money they don’t have sometime.
I dont totally agree with “creating jobs” by hiring people for what is called “shovel ready” jobs. There are already municipal workers who make VERY good money that are hired to do these jobs.
.
So, how can you “create” a job by hiring people to a job that already exists and that you already have people hired to do and the people that are already there to do that job make 20-40 dollars and hour, and have some the best benefits and pension plans in the country?
