Kimbo Slice KO’s Opponent in Pro Boxing Debut
After a failed MMA experiment, can Kimbo still make noise in the sport? a look back at a YouTube phenomenon
People make mistakes right? Its a fact of life. The key is for us to minimize regret. For Kimbo Slice it will be difficult for him to forgive himself for his failed MMA experiement. From the looks of his knockout of novice boxer James Wade Saturday night at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, Boxing has always been and still is his sweet spot.
Now, 37 Kimbo is still in great shape but will fight father time more than other heavyweight opponents and of course regret about what could have been. Since Lenox Lewis’ departure from the game and really Mike Tyson’s demise the heavyweight division has been wide open, begging for a star to take control. Kimbo had all of that, the sexy background story that the press would eat up, killer quickness and undeniable power all of which we were reminded of Saturday night when that vicious right uppercut landing clean.
The fight lasted only 17-seconds and was Kimbo’s first professional fight but hardly the beginning of a long journey we’ve been following via YouTube for years. Here’s a look back.

Hey, he should try n make a dollar while he still can…once he steps in the ring with a real professional boxer, tho, it will be a different story. Big difference between street fighting and boxing. We saw that he couldn’t handle MMA. Big difference between street fighting and MMA, as well.
Na, dude’s a fluke, don’t get me wrong, dude’s a straight hustler and I wont knock that, but, he aint no boxer or an MMA fighter, I went to see Hershell Walker at the last event he fought in, dude was garbage, but, since he’s a big name, he fought a dude that just laid there and took an ass “whupping”, boxing’s not what it use to be, I guarantee that neither Pacquiao or Mayweather are going to lose until they meet for that big pay day, Kimbo’s a big name, a lot of hype and these shady ass promoters are going to milk dude and vice versa, like my dude E.L. Diaz said, put in some real competition and see exactly were dude stands, till then, dude’s all hype.
