HTC Invests $300 Mil in Dre’s Beats, Phone Geeks Rejoice!

Posted by Juan

If sound quality was you major complaint with your current handheld device listen up

HTC the company bringing you the latest innovations in handheld Android technology is teaming up with Beats, Dr. Dre’s outfit responsible for the hottest trend in fashion never indended to be so to release a line of devices integrated with Beats sound. The partnership will enable your HTC phones to be equipped with Beats superior sound quality.

According to Billboard, it is also stated that HTC has $300 million invested in the Beats brand gaining a majority stake of the company but Beats Electronics will continue to operate autonomously with Jimmy Iovine as chair and Luke Wood as President and COO.

“Beats has found a unique way to harness popular culture in a manner that is unlike any other brand today,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corp. “It’s an exciting brand that has been built around providing something very special, and we believe our strategic partnership will provide customers with unbeatable sound on HTC phones. We obsess over every detail of a consumer’s mobile experience and audio is a critical part of that experience.”

As a phone geek, huge proponent of the Android platform and having a recently expired contract this is “music to my ears” pun intended. While I currently have a Droid (Motorola) modeled phone the HTC devices have outperformed the Verizon poster child products. Add in the Beats audio technology and they immediately shoot to the top of the mobile phone manufacturer list. I might have to hold of and see what type of 4G offerings they might come up with.

Good Looks: Woooha!

Ya, Android is going to take over the world.
    .
My first smartphone was/is a Droid 2. I wanted something with a keyboard.
    .
The mass of cheap (or free) programs makes it a no-brainer.
    .
    Best programs I’ve installed…
    .
MapMyRide – Free – use to record and track your runs, bike rides, etc. Use to track miles within google maps
    .
IMDB – free – Internet movie database. Ever watch a movie and say ‘who was that’. This program cross references all movies with all actors.
    .
Google Goggles – Free – Use to read barcodes/QRCodes. Use while you’re shopping to see if something is on sale down the street.
    .
XFinityTV – Free – If you have comcast, this will allow you to set your DVR from anywhere, change channels on multiple TVs, etc.
    .
WiFinder – Free – This program shows you all WiFi connections within range, whether they are locked or unlocked.
    .
CNBC – Free – The app for the business network CNBC. Allows you to create multiple stock lists so you can track your stocks on the run.
    .
Tune In Radio – Free – many radio stations around the world are now doing live broadcasts over the internet. This program lets you find and program stations, turning your phone into a very expensive radio

I gotta try that MapMyRide, sounds interesting. I have the IO Cable app, same thing. I HATE Google Goggles…I simply don’t understand it. Everything I take a picture of it never finds.

I think that almost 200 dollars is alot to pay for a pair of wired headphones. I’m waiting for a worthy set of bluetooth hifi stereo head phones to hit the market. If anyone has a pair for me to look into let me know.
    .
I currently have a HTC EVO 4G thru Sprint,(dont judge me, I still somehow get my employee discount on my monthly bill.) My favorite app, besides the web browser and Angry Birds, is Google My Tracks that tracks my biweekly run by time, distance, max and average MPH, and elevation. Its very cool for those who run, and the music app and My Tracks can run simetaneously.
    .
Im waiting for Google Body to come out for android, from what I see its kind of cool.

This a gr8 news story but when is Dr.Dre going 2 put out actual musical product aka DeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetoXXX. Enough with the Beats By Dre earphones they r cool sound gr8 and all but I bet they would sound better with the Detox CD.Mufucka lied 2 me about an NWA reunion and keeps pushing dates back on this mythical cd. No more Dre news unless it includes dates 4 a release of music…..U all know I was just playing….like I wasn’t serious.
