BART Cop Out After Just 11 Months For Videotaped ‘Manslaughter’ of Oscar Grant
Bay Area Emcees drop politically charged record protesting the Justice System that allowed this unfortunate madness

You might remember two years ago when I posted this video of BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Cop, Johannes Mehserle shooting handcuffed and subdued “suspect” Oscar Grant killing him. While I’ve posted more than a handful of videos exemplifying questionable action on behalf of law enforcement, this by far was the most heinous, reckless and saddest display. Well Mehserle was released last week after serving just 11 months of his two year sentence for involuntarily “manslaughtering” Grant.
So today Bay Area emcees, Ras Ceylon and Professor A.L.I. released the politically charged track ‘Leviathan’ off A.L.I’s Carbon Cycle Diaries. The duo takes the entire justice system to task making comparison to Babylon, calling it a ‘Beast System’ and today’s urban youth, Daniel in the ‘lion’s den. Serious listening for those of you who really enjoy the conscious message mixed in with their dose of Hip Hop. I’m kind of digging it. Makes me want to dig up my old tape player and pop in my Public Enemy.

Pathetic, I hope they riot all around the Bay area, I know that we usually end up breaking our own shit, but hopefully they’ll tear up some government buildings and “demonstrate” that in 2011 we aint playing this game no more. Shit gets me heated, black lives dont mean nothing to the white power structure in this country…..dammit man!

11 months? SMDH. Imagine if it was someone who wasn’t white….they’d be screaming bloody murder and would probably plot to assasinate them. Only in America….

@b.e.b. my dude, race has nothin to do with this shitty ass cop gettin a slap on the wrist, what about the dirty ass latino cops that raped females both in chicago n new york, if grant would’ve been white, maybe cop would’ve got the same deal n less publicity, but, minorities have been fucked ovr by cops, mainly white cops, that when shit like this happens, it becomes a race issue n it should’nt always be that, the harrassments I’ve encountered with cops, have been mainly with latino cops, cop over did it n he’ll have to live with this 4 the rest of his life.
