Female rapper Kreayshawn – and her White Girl Mob crew (DJ L1l D3bb, V-Nasty) – is growing in popularity since YouTube debut of her song, “Gucci Gucci.” However, her music isn’t the only thing catching notice. There has been a stir among observers about her use of the “N-word.” oh yeah, you might have noticed that she’s Caucasian.
White Girl Mob Crew (DJ L1l D3bb, V-Nasty and its lead female rapper, Kreayshawn) are growing a cult following with their YouTube sensation “Gucci, Gucci.“ But its Kreayshawns choice to use the word “Nigga” in her lyrics that’s turning heads outside of the circle.
The white femcee first drew attention to her loose lips when she used the controversial term in a tweet
@Kreayshawn: “People are actin so funny omg lol… I got 200k views… not 200k dollars… WTF YOU WANT FROM A N*GGA?! *DMX VOICE*,” she wrote in late May, referring to the immediately popularity of her music video.
So what does she have to say for herself? The Oakland, California native blames it on being a product of the slang used in her upbringing.
“If I’m freestyling and I said it, that’s just for that point in time. Any songs I’m writing I don’t use it,” she explained in an interview published with OCWeekly.com
“In Oakland, Asian people will call Mexicans that. A Mexican will call a black dude that. A white person will call an Asian that. Everyone calls each other that. I feel like that word is used in the low-income community more than anything. I can see if I was some rich crazy trick and I was just saying this because it’s hip-hop. I was raised around this. Me and my sisters were all raised around this. People call me that. But personally I’m not flaunting it around.”
While the debate among black folks who use the word will continue the arguement against those of the caucasian persuiasian is far louder at the risk of being hypocritical.

No. If you aint black you cant have that word back. The word is loaded with pain and history and a social view that other cultures in this society cannot share. Its our word now and we will use it as we see fit, even though it sounds hipocritical its true. We lived, died, bleed and sweated for that word. All this “its just around me” crap is bogus. If crack is all round you dont mean you start smoking……No. White people especially cannot use this word under any circumstances. This is just an old and ignorant topic. To quote Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does”. Number one, it was not a word created by whites to denigrate blacks. It was based on the spanish word for the color black and at some point bastardized and mispronouced by euro-americans during the time of African-to-America slavery. It’s common definition is ignorant, lazy shiftless which applies to people across all racial and cultural lines. Since it gained so much popularity as an insult to blacks in this country in days gone by, it gained it’s power. Now using it as a slang term for endearment is just plain dumb. Why not call each other doctor, lawyer, president, governor instead? I cannot count the number of times I’ve either been asked or overheard someone ask why it’s okay for a black (that’s right, I said black)person to call another person the word but not for a non-black person to say it. It’s not okay. I understand the need to emasculate the word to take away it’s power (like the word b!tch is now something some females are proud to call themselves, also not okay). I get it. Having grown up as one of the handful of black families in a small town, I cannot count the number of fat lips and bloody noses I’ve given and received when someone called me the word. Now it does not have the power to incite me to violence but I will correct someone who calls me that, I don’t care if it’s a friend, family or foe. I feel that people who use the word, regardless of their intention (good or bad) are choosing to be willfully ignorant and/or just follow and mimic other people that are being willfully ignorant. Well I gotta say, I’m glad I asked after all. I’m not going to lie, I’ve heard nigga all my life especially from my friends. And I have friends of all races. I literally heard it all the time which made it seem like it was ok to say because I wasn’t actually saying nigger. Hearing it in movies and music, it was basically turned around from a negative to a positive (to a certain extent). And it ended up being in my vocabulary from then on.
