Three Month Old Potato Salad Causes Flavor Flav to Close Down Chicken Joint
severs ties with business partner who mismanaged Iowa location

McDonald’s makes running a fast food chain but the truth is with so many customers, so much food and so many corners being cut to get the food out quickly a lot can be missed if not managed correctly. Flavor Flav found that out the hard way. After 3 months in business, Flav tells TMZ that he’s closing his chicken restaurant in Clinton, IA due to what he calls mismanagement on the part of his business partner.
“I had a licensing agreement with Nick Cimino and that’s all we had. It was his business to run from there and the business was not run right. Let me be straight up with you, I went up inside there on April 2 and I found potato salad that expired on February 28. And it’s then when I realized I can’t do business with this man and I really hope no one ate those potatoes.”
Yuck. Yeah but that’s why I would have had to wait for the official reviews before I hit up But just like any chain the closing of one doesn’t stop the progress of all. Flav is moving forward with his plans to open up a newer more high profile Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor in Vegas. Just want you need more Chicken’s on the strip…or is it Chicken Strips on the Strip.

As someone who spent many years at all levels of the restaurant business, I always have to laugh when I see celebs trying to get into the industry.
.
I imagine that they sit around with their friends and say: I like to GO to restaurants, maybe I should OWN one.
.
Make no mistake, if you do it right, there are buckets and buckets of money to be made; but it is a TOUGH industry, and you have to be on your toes if you expect to make any money. You can’t just step in and expect that it’s just going to ‘happen’.
But that being said, if Flav found the right operator, and participated as a figurehead and ad man, he could clean up.
.
The chicken market has been failing (at least around here), and KVC has been begging for someone to come and knock them off their perch.
.
Pick a strong market like Detroit or ATL, saturate it with 20 or 30 stores, and he could own the world.
Chicago too we love our chicken there also but then he would have to come in with some Mild Sauce. Cant have chicken without mild sauce
not to put down flav or anybody starting their own business…. but word to the wise… it isn’t easy… takes time and a macro mind set, find somebody if you can’t to handle the micro (small), so that you don’t miss anything, especially if you don’t know the industry and/or market you will get burned….
Food industry is very tough. all the rules and regulations are very difficult to make it profitable especially in fast food where the profit margins are pennies on the dollars.
Even more than you would imagine. Sometimes the difference between profit and loss is the choice as to whether to use the paper wrapper or the foil wrapper.
.
Produce especially. You may have noticed most chains leaving off the tomato from their discount burger. Once slice of tomato (with current prices) can account for a 15% increase in the production cost of a burger.
.
Next time any of you talk to flav, have him drop me a line and I’ll tell him how to make his business work.
