ATL’s Ludacris & Trojan Puts ‘A Hat’ on D.L. Lifestyle’s HIV/ AIDS Threat
Don’t sleep, HIV/ AIDS is more of a threat now then ever to the Hip Hop Community. Wrap up

@ludacris @trojanconnects
My Man 4PL and I were chopping in between meetings yesterday about how although HIV/ AIDS isn’t the threat it once was to our communities with education and medical advancements a new threat has been simmering. The down low (D.L.) lifestyle has added a very frightening dynamic to the Hip Hop culture. Because of the culture’s unwillingness to accept the homosexual reality, gay men have been forced to stay in the closet often leading very heterosexual lives on the surface during the day and sleeping with men at night. Not able to be honest with their girlfriends, jumpoffs and spouses about their lifestyle the often continue to sleep with them unprotected increasing the chances of infection for EVERYONE.

Nowhere has this lifestyle been more popularized than in Atlanta. So its only appropriate that ATL’s on Ludacris recently partner with Trojan to spread HIV/AIDS awareness. Trojan’s Live Large Project is a freestyle rap competition presented by Magnum.
“Staying safe is extremely important; being safe is extremely important,” he told Formes Magazine.. “I’m a firm supporter of the project; I mean that literally — a firm supporter.”
The Live Large Project is a freestyle competition taking place in Detroit, Miami, the Bay Area, New York City and other cities around the country. The winners from each city will get a shot at performing in Miami for the finals where the winner will get $5,000 and a year’s supply of condoms.
Hmmmm…I wonder how they determine what a year’s worth exactly is? Then how are you gonna feel when the year’s out and you still have a half a box still left? Damn even Trojan thinks I need to be getting more ass.
I digress. While its a shame that the only way we can get people involved in prevention is by having a rap competiton at least Trojan is doing something about HIV/ AIDS. I encourage all of you to stay vigilent. Yeah the disease isn’t as deadly as it used to be but you better believe the moment you let your guard down it will be waiting for you. Stay same.
