SOUND OFF: Were 50 Cent’s Controversial Tweets about Japan Insensitive?

Posted by Juan

When does Tweet humor cross the line?

@50cent
If there’s anything we’ve learned about me from hanging around the Nation is that I believe society is way too sensitive.  We’re ready to take up arms any and every time someone talks badly about Obama, makes and off color comment but what about mocking catastrophic tragedy?  Is THAT off limits?

As the death toll rises in the wake of Friday’s map changing earthquake and subsequent Tsunami, Twitter junkies are incensed by some recent comments made by 50 Cent.  We get it.  50′s entire shtick is based around controversy.  He’s only relevant as long as he’s pissing someone off.  Many of his fans have come to expect that and appreciate the banter as humor but feel this time he went to far.

50 Cent: Hawaii under a watch this shit is crazy. I can’t swim

50 Cent: Now they are saying they know it’s gonna hit the west coast damn.

50 Cent: Its all good Till bitches see there christian louboutins floating down da street shit gone get crazy

50 Cent: Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoes from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol.

I’ll admit when I first heard whispers that 50 had gotten reckless on Twitter I was surprised to find the comments were this mild.  Insensitive?  Yeah perhaps.  I wouldn’t say them but does 50 deserve injunctions and for his music to be boycotted?  I don’t think so.  Hell, by the looks of the sales statistics from his last few projects one could assume his fans are already doing that.  SOUND OFF: Were 50 Cent’s Controversial Tweets about the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami insensitive?

O 50 is still rapping , he should tweet how he plans to made better music . Last good CD was the Massecre or however u spell it and even that shit was kind of booty. “I take u 2 the Candy Shop”…wow really Ja Rule Jr.Get back 2 some real ass music stop clowning and beefing with ppl.

  2. B.E.B. says:

LMAO! I don’t think he was being insensitive. He was just being 50, this dude loves to get a reaction from people more than the next guy but he’s also a pretty funny guy. I’m sure it was all in good fun. I don’t see any difference between 50 saying some funny shit like that and a late night TV host. Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan, George Lopez, all these cats could and probably have made at least one joke about the earthquake/tsunami and there’s no problem or controversy there…I’m just saying. I ain’t mad at 50

  3. Left-Eye says:

Who cares what an entertainer thinks?

Entertain me, Bitch! “Now go get your fuckin shinebox!”

  4. ColeTate says:

I like Left-Eye’s point. Reminds me of Dave Chappelle’s stand up when he’s talkin bout them interviewing Ja Rule to get his reaction on 9/11!!!

  5. John says:

That shit was funny! People get over it. Sometimes you have to laugh at bad situations just to deal with it. I beat 50 gonna help people where he can.
