FORBES: Its Diddy (Not Jay-Z) That Tops Richest Rapper List
Watch out World! The Beats By Dr. Dre revolution has the D.O.C. in at the #3 slot AND CLIMBING!
@IamDiddy @DRDRE @jayz @birdman5star @Forbes @50cent
So it’s become a forgone conclusion that Jay-Z has assumed the top spot as wealthiest rappers over the past handful of years. So it was somewhat surprising to learn that it is in fact Sean “Diddy” Combs who Forbes Magazine anointed top earnings in hip-hop raking in an estimated $475 million. I doubt however that anyone will shed a tear for Jigga who brings in a not-so-shabby $450+ million.
Lets not forget Diddy’s not only got the music but the highly successful worldwide Sean Jean brand and his interests in Ciroc vodka which I’ll reluctantly proclaim tastes excellent. Then he recently added the Enyce and Zac Posen lines to his portfolio which jumped the tally up another $20 million.
Climbing the charts not-so-unexpectedly is Dr. Dre who proclaimed very early on would do so behind the sales of his Beat By Dr. Dre branded audio equipment a very big cherry considering he’s responsible for the careers of proteges Eminem and 50 Cent including to the tune of $125 million.
Rounding out the top five is 50 Cent and Cash Money Records co-founder, Bryan “Birdman” Williams who both are worth an estimated $100 million.

Maybe just maybe they can help a Hip Hop legend Kool Herc with his Health/Hospital bills not saying they have to but just doing a humanitarian thing with no media coverage. I am shocked that the Hip Hop music business is so profitable with no1 touring and sales not being what they once were.I guess the artist r getting into other ventures to keep the paper flowing. Watch out 4 the IRS they will get there’s 1 way or another.
Quality point. Kool Herc is laid out somewhere broke and heads are swimming in pools filled with bills. I agree with your point about the lack of sales/ touring. However artists need to realize they’re going to need a base in which to expand into other ventures. Signs that Hip Hop is on the downswing.
It’s been on the downswing 4 a looooooooooooooong time , u see it through these so called boutique record labels, from Ruthless in th late 80′s to Death Row, Bad Boy,No Limit in the 90′s and of course Cash Monkey.Here today gone tomorrow artists.50 was the hottest in 2003 now look. Ja Rule b4 him was ok not great. DMX aka 2pac 1999 was the shit now look. I hope they save the tax money and put some aside 4 a rainy bcuz when it comes 2 Hip Hop music it’s about 2 Flash Flood 4get a rainy day.
They gotta make their money somehow if the music ain’t cutting it. Clothing line, endorsements, investments, etc. I’m not a begger by no means but what about the needy people? You wanna buy your son 2 cars that are worth half a mil when you could have donated that money to somebody who really needs it! SMH…it could have been Kool Herc or anybody. Celebrities need to be a little more thoughtful. You don’t have to give all your money away (no one is asking for that) but take a minute to reflect on your lives and see how blessed you all are. Its always a great thing to help others in need. I’m sure the people (survivors) in Japan could use a little help.
