Farrakhan Calls Rihanna “Filthy, Swine” Yeah And isn’t that the Point?
The Minister also shows support for Gaddfi and gives props to Scientology founder Hubbard for “Civilizing White People”

During his annual Savior’s Day Speech in a Chicago suburb on Sunday, Nation of Islam leader, minister Louis Farrakhan tee’d off on Rihanna calling her style, dress, lyrics and dancing unacceptable. Farrakhan? Causing controversey? Naaaaaaaaah! Not him. lol. In his tirade he went as far as to call the entertainer “filthy” and her fans “swine.” Don’t you just love when he uses that word? It seems like he’s expanded it to unclude not only his most common target in homosexuals but now all things “filthy.”
I gotta give RiRi credit though, she handled herself very admirably in a response she delivered via twitter:
@RIHANNA: “A minister says I perform filthy, sat+watched the filth, then called u SWINE for doin the same! Haa, is that judgment in ur tone?”
@RIHANNA: “I certainly don’t think u are swine! But a holy man of God does!!! #swineNavy.”
I know that “A Minister” reference probably got under Farrakhan’s skin. He fancies himself with the article “The” prefix. Artfully done Rihanna. Anyway, always looking to keep a low profile, the Good Minister’s speech went on to thank Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard for finally creating a religion to “civilize white people.” Oh and he didn’t stop there. He went to bat for embattled Libyan leader Muammar “The Iron Sheik” al-Gaddafi who at this point is holding on to power by a thread and going blow-for-blow with only Charlie Sheen at this point for most disturbed sound-bytes of the week. Farrakhan says he plans to stick despite admitting his crimes against humanity and as Libyan citizens and heads of state are calling for him to step down.

To each his own…Juan, you have certainly gone mainstream media and taken pieces of quotes by Minister Farrakhan, which almost certainly will get a negative reaction from readers. Don’t you know that this man says too much to condense the meaning into one sentence? I read several articles on the Saviours’ Day Convention address. I have heard the minister talk about “swine” many times before and it’s not out of character for him to call out entertainers on their work. I have never heard him call a person a swine. He talks about behavior and mentality. And we, Americans, most definitely have the mentality of swine, always ingesting the filth that is out there. It’s everywhere in the entertainment world. I’m certainly guilty of it…
This is what he said regarding Gadhafi:
“I don’t know what’s going on in Libya,” said Min. Farrakhan. “But Muammar Gadhafi has always been my friend. People tell me I should distance myself from him, but I’m not that kind of weak-kneed person,” he said.
He also warned against a double standard in the name of justice.
“I listened to our president the other night. I watched the way he talked about his friend (deposed Egyptian president Hosni) Mubarak. Mubarak’s been there for 30 years—the friend of every American president—so whatever he was not doing for his people, America sure knew it!
“When did we (the United States) find out that we should be ‘for the people?’ After the people rose up, America tried to get in behind the cart,” observed Min. Farrakhan.
Min Farrakhan also said that America lied about going into Iraq in search of weapons of mass destruction, thousands of innocents were killed, and there have not been calls from the U.S. for trying former President Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for war crimes.

So, you see, these are not just the rants of a lunatic…..we can disagree with what he said all day long, whatever…but the man doesn’t just say stuff or one liners for “shock-effect value.” He is the pre-eminent preacher of our time and the most influential Black Man in America since MLK Jr. and Malcolm X were murdered….oh, and he ain’t neva lied!

I read the entire transcript. All 10 pages or so that I downloaded on the way to work. While I understand where you’re coming from, you’ve gotta understand also the guy is saying this because HE WANTS to be taken out of context and glorified as a villain in the blogs. He realizes who his target audience is. You being a member of the Nation (I’m assuming) understand him and his doctrine. However he’s an entertainer (a former calypso singer) and a great marketer. He knows the affect of his words before he delivers them and is very cunning and calculating in doing so.

Did I feed into the trap? ABSOLUTELY. I too have an agenda. To spark debate. He actaully mentioned the “swine” in reference to her audience which is consistant with your analysis. That anyone who follows her music is in voilations of injesting her filth like a pig. But he knows by using the word swine, he’s invoking the pathos emotion that will make folks angry.

Alright Juan, you read me right. Although I have not been an “active” member of the Nation for the last six years, I was quite active for a number of years before. I LOVE Minister Farrakhan. The Nation taught me what it is to be a man. I am, like many other bros and sis, still doing the work, just not in the Mosque…I don’t consider The Minister a contemporary of Dr. King because when Dr. King was murdered, he was a national figure, doing great things and Min Farrakhan was a young student minister in Boston (then NYC). Minister Farrakhan didn’t come into national and international prominence until he resurrected The Nation in the 1980′s (he started in 1979)…..I can get really long-winded (not as much as The Minister, tho, lol) because this is my number one passion. I’ll stop here.

With all of the comments already posted, I would like to say one thing…Farrakhan and everyone else for that matter can do like some many of us already do…do watch, listen or pay money to see something you don’t like or agree with in the entertainment industry. I’m not a fan of Rhi Rhi, I think her hype is bigger than her forhead, plenty of other female artist out there who can actually sing live without hurting your ears. Since I am not a fan, I just turn the channel when she comes on instead of caller here a filthy swine. If Farrakhan’t wants to talk about about something please stick to more important topics such as the lies that led us to Iraq.

Between E.L.Diaz and Brian, ya’ll make some very good points, it do seems like the world is coming to end sooner than we all guessed. Now a days bad is good, even though I do think some times Min. Farrakhan can get off the main topic some times, but he do call’em like he see’em, when the rest of the world just stands back and does nothing nor say nothing. I personally don’t agree with everthing he says n didn’t get a chance to hear speech, but would like to. As far as RiRi..I never been a big R&B fan any ways so..each its own with that!

I see that that media campaign trying to tie Minister Farrakhan to Malcom X’s murder really did work for a lot of people. In one sentence, people say they don’t believe everything the media says, but then say they don’t like Minister Farrakhan because he had something to do with Malcom’s murder. ???!!! the minister addressed that many times already. People choose to believe the same people that we know to be liars and we know are part of the system that keeps many of us in chains mentally…so, what is it? it’s either this or that (when it comes to principles)…but most people want it to be “a little bit of this and a little bit of that.” and I’m not taking about burning trees or enjoying the Fatbacks. I’m talking about having intelligent conversations, based on reality….newsflash: mainstream media LIES in order to perpetuate the system that is in place! government agencies break the law and murder, lie, cheat and steal in order to uphold “The American Way of Life.” Which is what, exactly? FYI: in the 60′s and 70′s, the Nation was full of FBI agents, who worked to destroy it. J. Edgar Hoover admitted this. Black males, who may have been in the Nation, who were working for the FBI, killed Malcolm…read something different than the books sanctioned by the same people who do all this dirt!

Go to NOI.org and follow the links to the bookstore at the Final Call. The majority of the books, etc are not by the Nation. But you will have a hard time finding them elsewhere. And once you start reading, it’s hard to stop. So many books by so many intelligent people.
Farrakhan did admit to Malcolm X’s daughter that he helped create the setting 4 the Assassination to take place. YouTube it . It came from his own mouth.
I heard him say that. Basically, a bunch of ministers around the nation were angry because they felt Malcolm had backstabbed Elijah Muhammad, who had brought Malcolm out of (mental) prison and put him in the position where he was. So, they were talking big from their pulpits about how Malcolm needs to shut up and what should happen to someone who does that kind of stuff…that created a hostile environment around Malcolm. But, Elijah Muhammad told them to stop that kind of talk and to leave Malcolm alone, because he had talked with Malcolm and agreed to go at the enemy from different angles. The organization that Malcolm was starting was going to be working with the Nation. Once J. Edgar Hoover heard about that, his hitmen moved in and got Malcolm, capitalizing on the bad blood that was in the air…

For all its shortcomings, there are many things that I don’t have to worry about and I can live and prosper. I wasn’t born in this country, but grew up here and I’ve read about, and shared with people from all over the world and I don’t want to live anywhere else. With that, I try to effect change where and whenever I can. That is a personal thing. I don’t need a pulpit for that. Do it every day. The opportunity to do that is what makes this country great. I can’t change Washington. But I can help those with whom I come in contact through my actions.
