Diddy Donates $100K to 100 Urban Entrepreneurs

Posted by Juan

Moved by the great work the non-profit Diddy vows his support of small business and backs it up

Here’s another feel good story.  I guess I’m just in a good mood.  While Sean “Diddy” Combs is no doubt one of the most self obsorbed individuals to walk the planet, every now and then even he does something good even if being guilted into doing so.

On Sunday Sir. Diddy was honored at the 2011 Annual Bryan-Michael Cox Pre-Grammy Brunch at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, California.  The event which was organized by Cox, SESAC and 100 Urban Entrepreneurs served to recognize urban youth initiatives dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and developing future business leaders.  Diddy says he was so moved by the stories of 100 Urban Entrepreneurs program that he verbally committed $100,000 to the non-profit organization.  Today he put his money where his mouth is.

“Puff challenged me early on by asking, Son, do you know how hot you really are? I walked away wanting to make even greater music,” Cox said. “Minorities are fundamentally at a disadvantage because many lack the access to financial resources and mentoring opportunities to start sustainable businesses.”

While I’m not sure what Diddy exactly meant by “Hot” I’ll give him the official salute for caughing up some bread to a very worthwhile organization. As an entrepreneur I know the difference between a great idea and success like Diddy has acheived often is financing.  Non-profit organizations like 100 Urban Entrepreneurs are important to not only business growth but the fostering of our communities.  I’d like to keep an eye on Diddy’s involvement with the organization moving forward however.  $100,000 is nothing to sneeze at certainly but I’m sure he can give more in the form of money but more importantly time.
