Is Breitbart’s Cartoon of A Fat, Burger Eating Michelle Obama Racist?

Posted by Juan

Illustrating the Hypocricy of African America or laced with Racial Undertones LET THE RDC CONVENE!

@AndrewBreitbart #MichelleObama #racism #FLOTUS
Are you familiar with Andrew Breitbart?  He’s a conservative blogger, known for stirring up controversy on his “Big Government” website.  Think the online version of Rush Limbaugh, probably a little more extreme however.  He was somewhat at the center of the whole Shirley Sherrod controversy and is actually currently being sued for it.

Well apparently legal troubles haven’t made him politically gun shy.  He recently posted a cartoon that pokes fun of Michelle Obama as a fat ass with a craving for a platter of hambergers.  The cartoon is in reference to the FLOTUS’ anti-obesity initiative trying to depict her as hypocrit.

“I’ve stepped up my efforts to control America’s eating habits by telling restaurants to lower portion sizes and fat content,” the FLOTUS says all while feasting on some burgers.

In contrast President Obama is depicted with some Dumbo sized ears chosing instead to diet on a proportioned plate of vegetables.

“Michelle, I want to get re-elected,” he says. “What you’re doing is only going to annoy a lot of people.”

“Shut up and pass the bacon!” she replies.

I want the RDC (Racial Determination Committee) to chime in on this one but I don’t see anything wrong with this.  I mean its highly offensive to the two parties but I actually find it funny.  What it does is expose what I believe many white people think about their African American counterparts.  We eat to damn much junk food!  I’d have to agree.  I’m sure the cartoon probably had her initially eating a plate full of chicken wings, cornbread and watermellon but it was edited down to hambergers but hey!  We as Americans, forget just minorities need to get over ourselves and be able to realize our faults and be open to criticism.  We elected President Obama and by defacto his wife to represent not only America but the idealistic black image.  We can’t get all sensitive when someone pokes fun of them as a parody of the race as a whole.  Especially when there is some truth to the matter.  Is this what happens at the White House dinner table? Probably not but its a political cartoon and it supposed to touch a nerve.

But I’ll leave the final say to the RDC.  What Say You?

Personally I think its a little funny. Racist? I’d have to disagree, its just poking fun. It’d be like having a latino person eating tacos and rice! I’d laugh at that because hey its true!

  2. Mr. Bad Guy says:

I don’t see the cartoon as racist, but coming from a nigga that says nigga alot, he looks like HE has says “nigger” ALOT!!!! He looks like kin of one of the KKK members from Mississippi Burning or A Time to Kill….
    .
This runs along the same lines as a concept I was explaining to a Jewish coworker of mine. That concept goes as such; Anything expressed by a white person that describes or manifests black people, or people of color, in anything other than a positive light is going to be regarded as racist by most black people, or people of color.

    • B.E.B. says:

      @Mr. Bad Guy
I understand what you’re saying about it coming from a white person. If you look at it that way, then yes it could be perceived as racist. I’m hispanic and not knowing any history of this Breitbart is why I didn’t think it was offensive. I’m going to have to do my homework on this one…

      • Mr. Bad Guy says:

Oh, I personally dont see it as offensive. I see others may take offence due to the mere fact that its a white person speaking about a black person.
        .
I look at it like this. Rush Douchebag, Glen Shit Speck nor this bastard up here would ever come into East Flatbush, Harlem or any other black neighborhood spitting that bullshit or even voicing their “opinion”. They sit up in their ivory tower, and talk shit over the airways where they cant be touched. The sad thing about the whole thing is that some people hear this shit and think that those I mentioned speak for the entire white race and further fuels hates between the races.. or classes….

    • Juan says:

      Mr. Bad Guy,

You’re on to something here. Funny you mentioned East Flatbush and the fact that his face being white makes most people associate this as racist. Who in East Flatbush says these same things every day but ISN’T white?????
      ISREALITES!
They stand on the corner and spew this same rhetoric about their own people of color yet their seen more as radical rather than racist. I don’t think people associate with rhetoric as racism when its coming from a person of the same race they’re potentially offending.

      • Mr. Bad Guy says:

Oh man, those Isrealites are a special case. They are against everybody who isnt them. To them, most blacks are brainwashed, blind sheep and all whites are the devil. To me they are just as bad as Rush and his cohorts….

My first vote on The Nation! I vote “Not racist”. The point of the cartoon was to show hypocracy (Epic “FAIL” on that, by the way). Her campain is to combat childhood obesity and promote eating BALANCE IE. You can eat fast food as long as it isnt the only thing you always eat.

What actually IS F’d up in this article is portraying her as fat. Mrs. O is THE most toned and fit 1st lady ever to grace the white house. Ever see a former 1st Lady doing 40yd sprints with kids to promote heath and fitness? No? There’s hypocracy here? Really?

…But i get it. The joke doesnt work if she is shown as the fit woman she is. Hmmmmm, maybe this joke just doesnt work at all.

    • Juan says:

Thanks for the vote. Much appreciated. Please chime in more. You’re absolutely right. I think she’s far more “mobile” than lets say Laura Bush or even Hilary Clinton.

Breitbart is a racist. You should all know that by now. The fact that he still has a job after the Sherrod fiasco only proves that blacks in America can be trampled or misrepresented anyhow and at anytime.

The way Mrs Obama is potrayed in this cartoon is how Breitbart and his racist followers view black females. They view black females as Mammy’s! Aunt Jemimas! Loud talking, overweight women who eat nasty shit and are abusive to black men. Thats the message i got.

Sure the black population can eat better but we don’t have the resources to do that. Healthy food stores are a rarity in the low income neighbourhoods that we occupy all over America.

This is not funny to me. I understand this is parody but the fact the cartoonist behind this tried to frame an innocent black woman (Sherrod) as a racist, just bothers me.

Racists fell for the Sherrod fiasco and they also believe Obama is muslim. Shit like this just adds fuel to the raging fire of racism that has become overt since Obama’s decison to run for president.

    • Juan says:

I think you bring a valid point about our access to healthy options however I think its long been used as an excuse for our eating habits.
      .
Is Breibart a racist? I don’t have enough information for that. I don’t follow him closely enough but I DON’T this this particular cartoon is but I can see valid arguments pro.

      • truth says:

Juan, lack of acess to food is not an excuse for black folk. Its a reality. Its a reality right now for even white folks without jobs. healthy food is fairly expensive for the average joe and if you’re broke , you dont have many options. Cheap food at the corner store is bad 4 u but its cheap. People will work with what they have. And the black majority dont have much.

Breibart is a racist. Shit, you even compared him to Rush Limbaugh. You think Limbaugh likes non-white people? Ha! Ha! Seriously? If this was George Bush’s wife or Clinton’s wife, they would never be a cartoon like this? It would have been a good american telling other good what americans to eat. In Michelle’s case, its a black woman with power telling white folk what not to eat. Black people dont tell white people what do in America. They tell us. Plain and simple.

  5. skinnygirluver says:

It’s a political cartoon, it comes with the territory. The Prez and his Lady should be able to brush this off as a crumb and so will I. It’s actually kinda funny, though. I love the ears.

  6. champ415 says:

I THINK ANYTIME THAT A WHITE PERSON DOES A CARTOON OF A NON WHITE RACE, ITS SEEN AS RACIST, WHAT PEOPLE NEED 2 UNDERSTAND IS THAT WE LIVE IN A COUNTRY OF FALSE DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM OF SPEACH N EXPRESSION, WETHER DUDE IS A RACIST OR JUST A DAMN BIGOT, THATS ON HIM AND HIS IGNORANT ASS, PEOPLE ARE MISJUDGED 2 OFTEN CAUSE OF HISTORY N STEREOTYPES, NOW, IF YOU’RE THE DUMB ASS THAT LIVES UP 2 THESE STEREOTYPES, THATS ON U, IF U DONT LIKE SOMETHING, U PAY NO ATTENTION 2 IT, IF THE 1ST LADY IS PIGGIN OUT ON BURGERS N JUNK FOOD, BUT PREACHIN ABOUT KIDS BEIN 2 FAT, THEN HER WORD HAS NO VALUE, TIME 2 DEVELOP THICK SKIN PEOPLE, THE BEST WAY 2 DEFEAT SOMEONE IS MENTALLY, IF U LET ASSHOLES GET 2 U, THEY’VE ALREADY ONE, OBAMA’S EARS R FUNNY THO, BUT THE WHOLE CONCEPT GOT TWISTED CAUSE DUDE IS A IDIOT.
