Bored Sports Media Dissects Tiger Woods’ Spit, Apology.
SOUND OFF: Do you think Tiger deserves the intense scrutiny of his every move or is it time we give him a break?
@TigerWoods
So yesterday I turned on the TV to ESPN and as I normally do monitor the ticker to quickly catch up on the big sports stories of the day and I see something about Tiger Woods apologizing. I’m like damn what did son do now? I’m thinking he cursed out a camera man, yelled at his ex wife something. Come to find out one of the top stories is Woods issuing an apology via Twitter for spitting on the 12th green during the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic. The heinous act earned him a stiff fine estimated to be between $400 and $16,000 levied by the European Tour.
@TigerWoods: “The Euro Tour is right – it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn’t thinking and I want to say I’m sorry,” Woods wrote in a tweet.
@TigerWoods: “Everyone was terrific all week, fans especially. Dubai is always a fantastic host. Just wish the week could have ended better.”
While Woods bombed out in the final round failing to end his 15-month winless streak, I can’t lie…I kind of feel bad for the guy. Its like whenever there’s a golf event, they mention where he’s at in comparison to the leaders then show the scores of others. That’s a lot of pressure and when he was playing well he thrived on it but now its ridiculous to the point where his apology for spitting on some grass is a top story? I mean if that’s the rule in the posh sport of golf fine but give the man a fine, he’s got the bread let him pay it and move on. I don’t know maybe I’m being overly sensitive.

black/asian man down —> proceed to kick him. that is all that is happening. he hurt their poor princess and they will whip him senseless. society/media are full of it.
This is golf; they are well known for their strict adherence to the rules.
.
For example… a player was disqualified and lost a championship one time because he added his score wrong. His mistake gave him a WORSE score, but that doesn’t matter. The rule says that if you’re score card is wrong, you’re disqualified.
.
There have been several cases where players have taken penalties when the accidently moved their ball – even in cases where no one other than the player saw it move.
.
The idea is that unlike most other sports, the players are supposed to uphold the spirit of the game as well as the rules.
.
Was this a bit much? Probably, but Tiger knew better. You don’t move to the top of your profession without knowing the rules.
I think everyone should give him a break already. Lets move on, his relationship with his ex-wife is over. No need to bash on him for everything else. I feel bad because his golf game went downhill ever since all that drama. He should have stepped away longer than he did. He needs to get his head cleared and focus on his life first. Get the priorities straightened out then take care of your career. No one is worried when he’s on the course now. He needs to remind everyone why he is the world’s #1 golfer. People tend to forget that but I’m sure he still has the talent, he just needs to get past all the bad press and remind people who Tiger Woods is…
This had nothing to do with his past. This was a violation of this particular sports ettiquette. As Malcolm said He knew better. And more so, he knows people are watching him and waiting to attack him for ANYTHING he does. If he doesnt want the ridicule, he should retire.
He needs to get back to what he loved doing when he was at the top of his game.
Whatever…I really don’t feel bad for Tiger. He called all this on himself. It’s not like he had any public good will stashed somewhere. He wouldn’t even admit he is Black before this whole thing blew up in his face. He knows just how Black he is now! I wanna hear from ONE black/brown/vanilla hoe he messed with…yeah, very low esteem of his own Blackness.
Ahh, the awesome and ultimate power of white supremacy at work.
