Should Miss. Approve Former KKK, Confederate Gen. Commemorative License Plate?

Now before you all start jumping to protest read on a little bit. The Mississippi Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans wants to sponsor a series of state-issued license plates to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, or as they call it, the “War Between the States.” The proposed plates would be in a series of designs to be released each year until 2015.
But it is the proposed 2014 design that is drawing the most controversy. The group wants the DMV to issue a specialty plate honoring Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, who so happens to be an early leader of the Ku Klux Klan. Forrest, who became a KKK grand wizard in Tennessee after the war, is remembered by neo-confederates for his victory at Fort Pillow in 1864 in which he led the massacre of black Union.
Advocate for the license plates and Sons of Confederate Veterans member, Greg Stewart argues that although Forrest’s involvement is well documented he distanced himself from the Klan later in life but while historians agree they debate whether that departure happened before or after the group became the violent faction we commonly associate it with today.
“If Christian redemption means anything — and we all want redemption, I think — he redeemed himself in his own time, in his own actions, in his own words,” Stewart said. “We should respect that.”
The designs would have to be approved by the State Legislature and a series of this sort would be require an inordinate amount of time and human rescources from Department of Revenue. While there is no offiical design, A Facebook group called “Mississippians Against The Commemoration Of Grand Wizard Nathan Forrest” poked fun at possible creative.
So I ask you Nation and the Racial Determination Committee to consider the laws of our Constitution and Bill of Rights specifically the rights Free Speech and Expression but also consider the heinous acts of the Klan and in your best judgment SOUND OFF: Should former KKK Member and Confederate General be commemorated on a license plate in Mississippi?

No, YOUR version of Christianity means death to Black People. The KKK from its inception was a “Christian” organization. Most southern slave owners were “Good Christians,” according to THEIR standard, not the Bible’s. Yet, they used the Bible to justify the abduction, enslavement and complete destruction of entire races of people (Black and Natives). Cosign 99.8%. Some are totally insensitive to what was done in order for whites to gain power in America. And as time passes, these powers, so to speak, are slowly introducing certain nuances, such as this, into the main stream in such a way that it desensitizes the public as a whole to makes what was done seem not as severe.
