Eminem & Shady 2.0 (Yelawolf & Slaughterhouse) Cover New XXL
Can Shady Records make a comeback and re-establish the institution of the “emcee” in Hip Hop

@Eminem @JOEBUDDEN @yelawolf @Joellortiz @therealroyce59
Last week, news of Eminem “officially” signing both Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse (Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9″) to his Shady Records outfit was a trending topic all over the net. The arrangement had been rumored for a while and by the time it became official it was nothing less than a formality.
I for one am a huge fan of Joell Ortiz and have been very intrigued by the work they’ve been putting out. Its been a long time since already established artists in their own right collaborated officially to create a supergroup. Imagine that teamwork in hip hop…go figure. Its almost as if they created the mold upon which Lebron, Wade and Bosh borrowed in Miami. Is a southern rapper from Alabama making waves in the industry for his skills and as a white cat he’s been of course compared to his now boss, Eminem.
The point is that this new Shady 2.0 as Eminem is calling it is built on a lyrical base something that the current brand of Hip Hop has somewhat gotten away from. While Eminem himself can still push units albeit not in the same capacity he used to, It will be interesting to see how Slaughterhouse and Yelaworlf do under his umbrella. As I said they both already have considerable cult following but to do significant album sales in this music climate is going to require corporate assistance and at least some mainstream acceptance. If Em and Shady records are succesful at this tall task it could spell a rebirth for the music and culture that seemed to be on its deathbed.

Shady Records back on top! Slaughterhouse is lyrically dope and I’ve been listening to some Yelawolf stuff and he’s pretty good too. Hopefully they can finally put a stop to all the dumb music thats been coming out and replace it with REAL hip hop. Real lyrics, lyrics that mean something and make you think. Not something that just rhymes. I’ve always been a fan of Eminem, ever since I was 15. And I always supported him and his label. I’ll continue to do so and I can’t wait to hear what they’re new music!
How u gonna claim to be a huge fan of somebody then misspell their name…especially when it’s printed right there on the magazine= fail
You’re absolutely right. I knew Joell’s name was spelled differently, I spelled it correctly in the first paragraph. I was just so excited to get this up that as I often do I misspelled his name. I don’t think that one’s ability to spell his name is a pre-requisite to enjoy one’s music. Thanks for the heads up.
@Douchemaster3005….are you an expert in journalism? I would like to think that you know people make simple mistakes from time to time. Someone could be the most illiterate person and not know how to even spell hello but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a huge fan. Don’t be so quick to ruin a great post with a mediocre comment. Besides, I’m sure most rappers can’t spell correctly either. Give Juan a break, he was giving us some great info and the big homie got caught up in the moment. @Juan – looks like its gonna be a HOT summer!!
Yea Slaughterhouse is like that… Joe is the truth… Yelawolf is tough… Royce has always been a monster… Hope Em does it right and put real hip hop out again…
The interesting thing is that I could swear that Royce and Em had a little rift back in the day. Money is money though right?
@Juan,
Yeah they had a little beef back in the day but they squashed it a few years after. Check out the BEEF dvd and it’ll tell you their stories from both sides. It should be volume 1 or volume 2.
YESSIR!!!! ITS JOEY!!! Joe Budden is that dude. . . him and Em on a colabo should be off the chain.
