Despite Winning 20K Bet, Fiscally Responsible Snoop Dogg Flies Southwest
Proves being a rapper doesn’t mean you HAVE to spend money frivolously

Yesterday I lamented a little bit about the 100K chain that was being prepared for T-Pain in advance of his not-so-secret anymore signing to Lil Wayne‘s Young Money outfit. The act was not unusual in this Hip Hop climate. Despite a still waning economy, diminished album sales and the declining rapper life span, Hip Hop artist still continue to spend lavishly like they just won the lotto only to have many of those possessions repossessed and sold at auction once they’re no longer on top. ‘
But for a veteran of what? 20 years, Snoop Dogg knows better. It doesn’t matter how much cake you got (or how much you win) a struggling economy spells cut backs for even the richest. The mature mind that is Mr. Dogg, still flies economy class despite just collecting on his $20,000 he won from UFC President, Dana White following their bet on who would win the NBA Finals. Though Snoop’s Lakers made him richer, he still chose to pack his winnings in his Louis and stuff them into Southwest Airline’s overhead bin. Take notes neophytes.

In terms of brand development and positioning, the only one who’s got it more sown up than him is probably Paris Hilton, who has a reputation as a dumb-blonde party girl; but who in reality is rarely seen partying and probably has the first dime she ever made.
