SOUND OFF: Should Kanye West Have Apologized to George Bush
Bush and Kanye Make Nice on the Today Show but wasn’t Kanye right about Bush’s disdain for Black folks?

On the “Today” show yesterday, during George W. Bush’s live interview the show aired a clip of Kanye West apologizing to the former President saying he “didn’t have the grounds” to call the former president a racist.
In his book, “Decision Points,” Bush wrote that it was a low point in his presidency when West declared at a fundraiser to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
In an interview taped Tuesday with NBC’s Matt Lauer, West said he would tell Bush that he was speaking in a moment of frustration.
“I didn’t have the grounds to call him a racist,” West said. “I believe that in a situation of high emotion like that we as human beings don’t always choose the right words.”
Bush said he appreciated the apology and forgave him.
“I’m not a hater,” he said. “I don’t hate Kanye West. I was talking about an environment in which people were willing to say things that hurt. Nobody wants to be called a racist if in your heart you believe in equality of races.”
But SOUND OFF! Do you believe Kanye should have apologized to George Bush for saying he doesn’t like Black People?

Let me translate what George Bush said in the quote: “I’m not a hater. I was talking about people who don’t have money who say things which slight people of my particular tax bracket. Nobody wants to be called a racist. It’s not a color issue I am too wealthy to be racist. I just don’t care about poor people. Kanye has money. I don’t hate him.”
As for Kanye…trout-mouthed fool. Who cares what he thinks? He only apologized because he was advised to. Juan, you know the business game well enough. In entertainment, bad publicity is good publicity. But in overall business, bad publicity and slander could destroy possible business deals. The boy is stupid but his advisers know about money. they won’t let him make a grievous error like not apologize to the son of an oil tycoon…and former president.

I don’t think he should have apologized since he was speaking in a manner that clearly showed his view. In a country that always boasts ‘we have the right to say whatever we want’, the line always appears when a black person says what’s on his mind on television.
