SOUND OFF: Should Marijuana Be Legalized

Posted by Juan

Is California’s Proposition 19 really about weed or something entirely different?

@REALWIZKHALIFA #Prop19 #marijuana #California
Ok, Ok.  I know this is not an original question by any means but given this coming Tuesday’s general election, its very topical.  The State of California has on its ballot a referendum to make the usage of Marijuana for recreational use LEGAL!  Now we already know that Cali is the most liberal state in the union without a question but the state’s referendum on the ballot, Proposition 19 some argue is using marijuana for a higher political gain.

Our resident political insider, Malcolm already put us on to the scheme.  By design political strategist have placed this issue on the ballot because its a hot button topic which will draw voters to the polls and while their at it, vote for their favorite party.  So whether or not to legalize the drug is irrelevant in comparison to who wins the midterm elections.

Also, some argue the legalization of the drug could bring revenue for the bankrupted state.  As crazy as it sounds it would boost agriculture and draw migrants to the state boosting the housing economy and others.  Just ask Wiz Khalifa a very public advocate of the herbals.  He was recently interviewed by LA’s Power 106 FM about this very topic.  Although he lobbies for the legalization he encourages everyone to vote and says he plans to move to the weed friendly California very soon.

I think the Mary Jane should be legal and hell I don’t even nor have I ever wanted 2 nor will I ever smoke that stinky nasstee shit. I do think it should be legalized 4 the simple fact that “Weed is from the earth weed was put here 4 u and me Craig stimulate your mind, take advantage man take advantage”.On the real The Gov would never legalize it 2 a major capacity bcuz they could not regulate the shit . Regular ppl can also make money without the Gov deeping their greedy hands all in it . Remember they finally legalized alcohol afetr the Prohibition.

    • Juan says:

Regular people can grow corn and potatoes very important commodities and there’s no black market for them. Being able to readily produce weed is why its even an issue to legalize it. Its not like cocaine where it needs to for the most part be imported.

      • Left-Eye says:

you should just say it, the government want their cut of the product. If there were an organized group of people who were willing to just pay a tax, the government would just legalize it. If you can tax it, then it’s good. It’s a question which must be answered when approaching this “What’s in it for me?” there is more money in making it illegal (arrests and other things associated with law enforcement) than with legalizing it.

Also, just my little comment, most people dont understand things past their noses. So marijuana legalization will just take a stance of hippie vs organized government. Nonsense.

    • Malcolm says:

@2NA$$TE… horse shit is from the earth too; though I don’t see people lining up to smoke a bowl of that.

      • E.L.Diaz says:

LMAO, Malcolm…I told a God-Body once, who made the same argument about weed being natural, from the earth, “well, so is swine, but you won’t eat that, right?”

        • Left-Eye says:

Ugh…the fools who call themselves God-body. SMH. Those who believe that they can run around doing foolish things and tell everyone else what they should do. Spouting hate and nonsense like that, but they are justified because they remember misplaced ideals from the principles of Ma’at or the 10 commandments or from random religious sects…and of course the famous denouncing of swine. You’re ok as long as you don’t eat pork. Good mantra

      • 2NA$$TEE says:

Yo playboy if u noticed at the beginning of my post , I stated I would never smoke that nasty stank shit . I am probably the only man black white asian hispanic native american who has never ever ever wanted 2 smoke anything buta turkey on Thanksgiving aka KracKKKuz land jackin Day.

  2. Mr. Bad Guy says:

Hell no that shit shouldn’t be legalized. All I can see is my son’s bus being in an accident because his driver was too smoked out…..
    .
People dont know their own limits, that’s why you have laws. You already have n@ggas mixing their weed with formaldehyde, and cocaine, and other shit to make it more potent. The last thing we need is to make drug use seem anywhere near the norm….

  3. Malcolm says:

It should be legalized for a handful of reasons.
    .
Keeping it against the law empowers criminal organizations. The power of the crazy Mexican drug lords (who are openly at war with the police down there) is from the money they get selling their drugs in America. Legalize pot and you put the drug lords (mostly) out of business.
    .
It forces otherwise law-abiding citizens into acting against the best interest of their communities. For example: a guy witnesses a murder while at a drug house buying a bag. Does he report the murder? No, because doing so will also force him to report his own drug buy. (the same reason why sweat shops of illegal workers almost never get OSHA complaints).
    .
Finally… it’s not the job of the government to be our mommy. It’s one thing to tell people that for their own health they should do this or that, it’s an entirely different matter when they decide that they know best and they are going to ban things that THEY don’t believe in.
    .
Cars kill more people than pot; but they don’t ban cars. Cigarettes have killed millions; but they don’t ban cigarettes. The idea that everyone should be barred from a product simply because a few can’t handle it is illogical. To force your morality on an individuals’ right to choose is immoral.

    • Juan says:

So the Prohibition defense. Makes sense. Your second point is comical. So legalizing marijuana will help the police close more violent crime cases because eye witnesses will be sober. HAHAHAAHAHAH!

  4. skinnygirluver says:

I don’t think Marijuana should ever be legal but the penalties should be less and there shouldn’t be any mandatory sentencing. I will say this, I AM CURIOUS to see a segment of our population hsve it legal. If this bill passes, I would like to see the effect it has on the region.

  5. Mississippi Mandingo says:

I smoke a blunt to take the pain out.

  6. Ruthlessnyc says:

    legalized di herb

  7. 4pl says:

As Chris Rock so astutely pointed out the best drugs cannot be produced in the US therefore legalizing marijuana or any other drug would make these poorer countries rich fast, b/c our countries appetite for drugs is so high (no pun intended) We would start pumping billions into this “brown” countries economy. For that reason alone it’ll never be legal!

  8. DJ SoUnDBoyy121 says:

My turn….Ahem..The answer is yes, it should be perfectly legal for a number of reasons.
    1. Illegally, it produces at least $10 billion a year. That’s money that could help save the economic state we’re in.
    2. Marijuana has over 2,000 textile uses including Paper, Clothing material, etc.
    3. Marijuana has over 200 temporary pharmaceutical uses for providing relief for illnesses like Cancer, Anorexia, etc.
    4. There are 0 recorded deaths in history from anyone dying from the smoking it, more than 20,000 people die each month in this country from alcohol & cigarette related issues. So u can guess which of the latter is Logically safer
    5. Did you know when eaten in it’s natural form, Marijuana provides a fair source of protein? Tobacco can’t do that.

HN FAM, I have been using Marijuana since I was 16 and there is nothing to fear from it. It’s truly a wonderful plant, but misinformed people are always giving it a bad rep. **Remember, KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE.

    When any of you get the chance, check out a documentary called “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High”. You’ll learn all the lies and myths that have been created by our Government to prevent you from knowing. And you’ll learn EVEN MORE of the benefits it provides than the ones i listed above. It can be found on NETFLIX and YouTube. I hope this helps × }

  9. DJ SoUnDBoyy121 says:

Oh and uhh…. TAYLOR GANG OR DIE!!!!!!!!
    I’m a pretty big Wiz fan…lol

  10. E.L.Diaz says:

Nothing like an educated stoner to clarify things!
