Rev. Run, Diggy & Jo Jo vs. Ice Cube and Sons (OMG & Doughboy) Who Wins?
In a “Bucket List” Moment Ice Cube & Rev. Runs take sons inside BET’S Hip Hop Award Show Cipher

As I’ve gotten older my TV watching (save sports) has significantly decreased and what I missed I can often catch up on YouTube. One particular channel which has completely fallen off my radar is BET. However, despite my recent criticism of the network in recent years I have to Deborah Lee and the BET Network some props for working hard to revitalize the programming.
One of their new flagship properties that they’re trying to revamp the network around is their annual BET Hip Hop Award show. Now award shows are a dime a dozen but the “Cypher” segment has become a must watch. A cornerstone of the entire evening, it features legendary emcees freestyling in raps lowest common denominator a freestyle cypher.
Earlier this week, BET recorded this year’s segment atop a Brooklyn high rise with two of Hip Hop’s iconic emcee-turned-entrepreneurs, Rev. Run and Ice Cube. And for a little extra flavor, they threw their kin into the cipher for back up. If that wasn’t enough, the incomparable DJ Premier was on the wheels. An understandably excited Cube blogged about the experience calling it a “Bucket List” moment.
What up fam?
Last night I stood on a roof in Brooklyn wit my 2 sons (OMG & Doughboy) and the “King of Rock” Rev. Run wit his 2 sons (Diggy & Jo Jo) and we did the BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher. We killed it.
Me and Run had 16 bars and our boys had 8 bars a piece. We had DJ Premier on the wheels and it was a beautiful night.
Ya’ll don’t understand. I was a straight fan last night. I grew up on Run-DMC and having a chance to do a cypher wit the legendary DJ Run was a bucket list moment for ya’ boy. It was all love of course and we talked about a line he said in ’83 that set it all off, “If you say you heard my rhymes we’re gonna have to fight, Cause I just made the mothafuckas up last night!” Now that’s hip-hop. Just wanted to share that wit ya’ll. On my way back to Cali…
Keep It Gangsta,
Ice Cube
So while we’ll have to wait until October 12th at 8/7 C to see who ripped it SOUND OFF: If you had to place a bet on the winning squad would it be the Jacksons or the Simmons?
OMG aka Shea
Doughboy (w/ Ice Cube)
Diggy
Jo-Jo

all damn they put JOJO in the cypher wtf…. this may be the worst 8 bars we ever heard…
I have not really heard any of the offsprings flow yet but I heard that Diggy can actually spit a little something, then I heard Jo Jo is about as skillful Ron Artest .I am a fan of both RUN-DMC as well as N.W.A when I was younger, I was bumping both and they r still my 1 RUN-DMC and 2 N.W.A favorite groups of all time in Hip Hop period so mad props go out 2 both 4 what they have done 4 Hip Hop and I hope they school their kids on this Beautiful atr4m called Hip Hop.
