Jay-Z Top’s Forbes Magazine’s Cash King List

Posted by Juan

Hov proves he pays more in tax ($22 Million) than any other rapper made last year

@jayz @iamdiddy @Forbes
Over the last 12 months I’ve noticed from the comments and the overall tone of the Nation’s feeling towards Jay-Z that he’s no longer the can-do-no-wrong king pin that he once was.  Yet despite it all he was still recognized by Forbes Magazine as its Hip Hop Cash King.

As the magazine notes, the industry did little to grow over the past year in a turbulent ecconomy yet the stability of its top 20 earners consittued success as they collectively raked in an estimated  $300 million in earnings.

Over the past year, Jay-Z made an estimated $63 million to earn the Cash King crown. As Forbes points out, his income level places him in the 35% tax bracket, which means he’ll pay Uncle Sam about $22 million this year–a sum greater than the total earnings of any other rap star besides second-ranked Diddy who drew in this factoid makes his line “What you call money, I pay more in taxes” not just a cleaver lyric but a fact.

Speaking of Diddy he had a big year with Ciroc, the success of his movie “Get Him to The Greek and his Diddybeats ear-bud collabo he launched with Dr. Dre, who ranked fifth on the list with $17 million.  The rest of top five was Lil Wayne ($20 million) and Akon ($21 million) who is straight mooching off the success of Lady Gaga
