SOUND OFF: Can Ochocinco and T.O. Co-exist in Cincinnati?

Posted by Juan

The Bengals now lead the league in Reality TV Shows with FOUR!

@VH1 @cinbengalsnfl @ogochocinco @terrellowens

Over the past ten years there have been no two more outspoken wide receivers in the NFL than Chad (Johnson) Ochocinco and Terrell Owens.  So much to the fact that VH1 hired both of them.  First they aired a sort of day in the life series about the struggles of T.O. to find balance between football, love and family.  This season, Ochocinco joined him on the network with a series of his own.  Much in the Flavor of Love/ Love of Ray J style, the dynamic receiver appropriately choses from 85 would be suitors in a high octane dating show.

Yesterday we learned the tables were turned as it was T.O. who will be joining Ochocinco, not on TV but on the gridiron as the Bengals signed him to a two year deal.  According to ESPN although the Bengals passed on T.O. back in March, the 36-year-old Owens eventually agreed to a two-year, $2 million deal with $2 million in incentives.

While T.O. and Ochocinco have both compiled some impressive numbers its their reality show stats that are probably most alarming.  Chad of course appeared on “Dancing With the Stars”  and is in his first season of “Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch” on VH1. Immediately after it on the same network, the second season of “The T.O. Show,” currently airs.  Add that to the Bengals HBO Reality special “Hard Knocks” about their 2009 training camp and the team leads the league in reality shows by a long shot.  Are the trying to play football or break Flavor Flav’s record?

None the less there is still football to be played.  And while the superstars might be on the decline of their careers, both proved last year they still have a little left in the tank.  While on the surface the two off the field friends might make for a dynamic receiving corp.  But being the divas they’ve been known to be throughout their careers always demanding the ball it could be a volatile relationship.

SOUND OFF: Do you believe that Chad Ochocinco and T.O. can co-exist in Cincinnati?

    I think it will work. Chad is a pro on the field, whatever else is going on. I think T.O. understands that he has this and maybe another year left in his NFL career, so he is just trying to get a ring. I don’t think he’ll act the fool. They may compete for best touchdown celebration, but I think that will be it.

    Ten years ago even 3 years ago, i would say this won’t work, but i think these two have grown and understand its impossible to achieve team, not individual, but team success as a professional alone. More and more talent is thrown into the league every year, they are getting old and the db’s are getting younger, they need each other…. these two guys can come together to form a deadly tandem, not to mention Antonio Bryant, also Jordan Shipley…. is laveranues coles out in Cinci?

  3. skinnygirluver says:

    It’s just a one year contract. Together I think they will do some special things and I can’t wait to see them play. They will get along, but the Bengals are a good running team. If they run too much then we might see some fireworks.

  4. cj says:

    maybe it will work, who knows we’ll have to find out, but T.O. is a real drama queen and wants the ball on every play so he may cause some tension in the locker room, but maybe they can make it work.

    but really i would have thought they would bring in someone younger for chad to be a sort of mentor to and someone who can develop and be a good investment over the years rather than a talented receiver on his last leg
