Nike’s New Ad Campaign Says Be Proud of that Fat Back
New print ads say “My Butt is Big” SO WHAT?!

Here’s one I thought would be right up the Nation’s alley. My friend, Yeti over at Woooha (great blog btw make sure you add it to your RSS reader) posted this image from a new Nike print ad. The ad created by Nike’s ad agency Wieden & Kennedy is the latest installment of a campaign that first started in 2005 and represents an apparent effort to revitalize its message. More than anything it proves Nike has been listening to the Highbrid Nation and acknowledging the Fat Back movement.
I know people will view the Fat Back award as mysoginistic and perhaps hypocritical and I won’t argue with that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However what I think it expresses more than anything is love of self. Love of the female body, the black female anatomy in all of its glory.
God made certain women with tremendous curves complete with wide hips and a rotund backside. Society and the media has attempted to teach our children that this is somehow less than ideal and the perfect women is the unrealistic depictions of aneorexic models as published in high end fashion magazines. Highbrid Nation embraced this natural body and if we over glorify we only do it to prove a point.
The truth is that although the traditional Nike body is an disciplined athletic one built for performance, the vast majority of its customers shopping for Nike sneakers don’t rock such a physique. None the less, SALUTE to Nike and those taking notice of the Fat Back movement even if only in attempt to profit from it.

Nike has always been at the forefront with their creative/edgy ad campaigns…big ups to them.

you guys are really sweet. we appreciate the “good morning beautiful” and the “just gorgeous” you guys give to use ‘figure 8″ women. it takes A LOT of work to maintain the waist to hips ratio at the just right rate. Next time you see us ‘cola’ bottle women walking around SALUTE and thank the good LORD for the blessing He gives you every day.
Working out and being in shape usually results in a shapely woman. Being “model” thin is just a result of not eating. Most girls in the gym are curvy and have nice thighs and asses. It makes sense for Nike to go after the athletic type.
Good point, most females feel as if they will get all muscular and nasty lookin by going to the gym…. but like you said it gives you curves and a nice apple ass, plus delicious thighs…. get those memberships ladies and enjoy staying fit and beautiful…
now this is something I can respect. A well built woman; in shape and still curvy. Much improvement from those other cosmetically enhanced (implants and ass shots) women, and/or the big ol lards of fat with the ugly faces.
