Micheal Jordan on Lebron James’ Decision: “WOMP, WOMP!”

Posted by Juan

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic”

@KingJames @DWADEOFFICIAL
I know, I know you’ve had enough of the soap opera “As Lebron Turns”  but I thought Michael Jordan’s comments on the matter were worthy of discussion.  LeBron James’ decision to complete the trifecta in effort to collect championships has obviously come under a great deal of criticsm.  Like with every superstar since Michael Jordan, Lerbron’s legacy despite his undeniable skill will always be measured against the number of championships he’ll win in comparison to his Highness.   But as Jordan points out its not quite the same when you’re not the undeniable center peice.

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’” Jordan told NBC Sports about James’ decision to join fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Heat .

“But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”

I’m trying to decide if that was a diss or a vote of confidence.  I’m leaning toward the former.  I think MJ’s comment’s put an exclamation point on the issue however.  Six rings definitely earns you the right to name your AIR apparent and it appears Lebron is not it.  THOUGHTS?!

MJ is on point with his remarks… KObe about to slay the 3 headed monster… i’d be surprised if the heat beat the celtics in 7 games… still aren’t tough enough down low…

  2. Mufassah the King says:

His airness has spoken. Lechoke..ahem…I mean lebron made a sucka move.

  3. Left-eye says:

It comes down to reality…there is an asterisk on any championship the Heat win with those 3 on the team. We all know it because we will ask the question “Could they do it without all of them together?” We know Wade can but LeBron hasn’t and Bosh is untested.

MJ liked competition and that is what made the NBA what it was. But people want to create a bomb-squad (pardon my early 90′s reference) and then put their chest out like they just conquered the world.

  4. Jungle says:

Lebron has set a precedent in creating this media spectacle. I’m surprised Stern hasn’t interjected and fined these guys for rigging this out come. Bosch, Wade, and Lebron planned this whole thing in order to win a championship. All 3 of em should be fined!!! When Jordan was playing he never had a say in who was going to be on the team, he left that business to the owners. That’s the difference between Lebron and Jordan, Jordan made the good players on his team great!!

  5. E.L.Diaz says:

One interesting comment Jordan made in that interview was that all those guys played together on the original Dream Team and that the games were not very competitive, which is the understatement of the year: they won by a marging of almost 44 points per game. Translation: it’s not going to mean as much if Miami wins the championship with this “dream team” because it was built with the best available players with the sole purpose of winning the championship. Of course, that is the goal of all the teams, but they don’t go about it that way. Look at the makeup of all the teams that have won multiple championships in the last 30 years: they did it through the draft, trades and free agent pickups: Boston L.A. and Detroit in the 80′s, Chicago, Houston, San Antonio in the 90′s and L.A. again now…Whatever happens, they will fail. They will never get their proper due, even if they win the next five championships. If Magic, Bird and Jordan played on the same team from the ’86 through the ’90 seasons, they would have won those five championships, no question.

  6. Big Al says:

Man come on. These people are people like you and me. At the end of the day is all about the dollar. If he was with Clevland or with the Heat. It’s basketball people, basketball. THe people are upset because they won’t make any more money off of these stars. After all is said and done, what would you do…Its all about the money and where u want to be. I care less where he goes, just as long as I can see him play. We watch basketball for sport not for rent money

  7. Juan says:

Lets not give LA too much credit. That Pau Gasol trade is still one of the fishiest in history. Everyone acts like Pau was a bum.

  8. Jaxon says:

Well I don’t recall Jordan,Byrd and Magic being good friends nor were their contracts up at the same time. And if Jordan didn’t have his support group in Chi, who knows what he would have done. it’s so easy for him to say what he wouldn’t have done because he wasn’t put in the situation. So I don’t put 2 cents to his comments.

  9. dewayne says:

    uh oh

  10. skinnygirluver says:

I was just going to say that Jordan, Bird and Magic were NEVER friends and were never free agents at the same time and they are from a different era. Bird and Magic already had Super Teams built around them, it’s a completely different situation. People like Charles Barkley(even Jordan) are just jealous that it’s going to be “easy” for them to get their rings. If there was anyway to make it easier to be a champion I would take it. They are being unselfish and even though I’m not a Heat fan, I hope they win several championships just to show everyone what real teamwork and unselfishness can produce.

  11. SR 'THE WRITER!' says:

@ Big Al. Co-sign. People getting all uptight and whatnot. I think MJ wasn’t dissing, but simply acknowledging the ‘opportunities’ that players today have in where they play. And if the best players want to get together and play on the same team to win, whats the big deal. Isn’t that what everyone in the NBA is trying to do? Heads are just mad cause nobody wants to pick THEM…

    GET A LIFE LOSERS!

  12. Jaypream says:

The God has spoken! LeBron made a bitch move.

  13. DinkInDC says:

I disagree. Magic had Worthy and Kareem and Bird had McKale and Parrish (I think all 6 are among the 50 greatest players so it aint like they didn’t have all stars also. Sure Jordan had a ruffer road but they put a bunch of shooters (kerr, paxson, armstrong, kukoch, pippen) and rebounders (grant, cartright, rodman, pippen, kukoch)around him like they tried to do for Lebron (just not enough shooters). So if they were in the 30 and over club like pierce, garrnet, allen then it would be ok? They are not the 3 best players in basketball. 3 of the best, yes. But not THE best. SO STOP ALL THE CRYIN AND PLAY BALL. How are yall goin let jokim noah sucka ass have more nuts then yall? AND IM STILL A WIZARDS FAN F**K THE BAND WAGON. And MJ, hatin is a weakness and u look real soft right now.

  14. E.L.Diaz says:

    LMAO! that’s good! co-sign!

  15. blakk$ says:

If any of us play basketball and love it breathe it and just live for basketball…..can you honestly say you wouldn’t want to play with your friends especially if they were good……just think back when we were kids and teens we played with our friends to win and it was fun…They want to win…I dislike that he left Cleveland but i understand!
