SOUND OFF: Do You Believe Mike Vick Was Involved in the Shooting?

Posted by Juan

Or was this perhaps a case of his younger brother Marcus defending him from his drunk cousin Q?

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick is back on the hot seat following the shooting outside of a restaurant after his birthday party last week.  While he was at first beleived to be be completely uninvolved, video surveillance tape shows Vick left the Virginia Beach nightclub just three minutes prior to the shooting despite his early statement to police that it was at least 10 minutes.

In his defense Vick released a statement Thursday saying he had “nothing to do” with a shooting.

“On June 25, 2010, I attended a birthday party held in my honor at The Guadalajara’s Restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia,” Vick stated. “After I left the event, I learned that a man was shot outside the restaurant. I want to assure everyone that I had nothing to do with that incident. I left the restaurant prior to it occurring and did not witness what happened.”

Quanis Phillips

Although not official, word on the street is the victim is Quanis Phillips, Vick’s cousin and one of his co-defendants in his dogfighting case.  There are also several reports, Marcus Vick, Micahel’s brother, one-time NFL player and problem child has been named as the possible shooter.   According to the report Marcus got into a verbal confrontation with Phillips which lead to Phillips slapping a piece of birthday cake on Michael after Phillips was told to leave the party.

Now that’s a story I can believe.  Cousin Q gets drunk, always embarrassing the fam, Mike asks him to leave knowing he’s on probation. Q says no.  Little Brother Marcus steps in to defend his brother.  Q keeps mouthing off and slaps the cake.  Hot headed Marcus makes the situation worse by going to get the ratchet.

Who knows? Its all speculation.  The major problem with that is even if Vick wasn’t involved in the shooting, even his mere interaction with Phillips at the party would be a violation of his probation which states he is not allowed to associate with a convicted  felon. So even if police determine he wasn’t involved and perhaps Marcus was, Vick’s playing days are almost certainly done because he lied and violated the terms of his probation.  Under his very tight NFL leash…he’s a wrap.

What seemed to be a non-issue, unfortunate coincidence is now having police thinking twice and the NFL launching their own internal fact finding mission.  Given what you know AND taking into account Vick’s past, SOUND OFF: Do you believe Micheal Vick had anything to do with the shooting?

Sad ending to a career that had so much promise… he truly was talented, sad to see his football talents wasted… hopefully he can do something else and be a productive individual…

Dude needs to stick to his story and keep his mouth shut. His cousin came to the party knowing the terms of their involvement. He will be fine. I don’t think that his playing days are done. He can’t help who just shows up at a party. He gets out of this one, and he needs to keep his ass at home with his wife and kids.

I hope Vick wasn’t dumb enough 2 have anything 2 do wit dis.
