Cop Acquitted in Sean Bell Sues Bell’s Estate For Giving Him a Boo Boo

Claims Bell assaulted and injured him while driving his car without his glasses. Yeah his glasses.

What’s up Nation!  So get this, according to the New York Post report, Officer Michael Carey, one of the police officers acquitted of any wrong-doing in the sad fatal shooting of Sean Bell‘s estate is suing the deceased’s estate.  Carey is claiming the Bell assaulted and injured him with his car while intoxicated right before the being peppered with the now infamous 50 shots of gunfire that took his life just hours before he was to be married.  If that’s not enough, Carey is claiming the groom failed to wear glasses or contact lenses despite having poor eyesight.

The lawsuit is part of a counter-claim filed in Brooklyn’s Federal Court in response to the wrongful-death suit being pursued by Bell’s fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell, against him and the other four cops.

“[Officer Carey] suffered serious leg injury when [Bell] crashed into the vehicle he was riding in before Officer Carey ever drew his gun and fired a shot,” said Carey’s lawyer, Richard Signorelli.

While I’d imagine this is procedure and a tactic on behalf of the defense to ward off any punitive damages that might be due to Bell, you just have to be kidding me. I think we’re resigned to the fact that there’s a chance that an unfortunate incident like this could happen to any one of us and the cops will get away with it.  History has taught us that.  But could you imagine if Sean Bell was found liable for damages to the cop?  What did Carey hurt? His finger unloading the clip into Bells chest?

I mean lets get real.  NYPD got away with another one, Ms. Bell lost her husband, give her some money and move on but for you to even suggest he caused you as an officer some distress is heartless and the ultimate salt and an un-healing wound for his wife and the community.  What’s next the Traffic Bureau going to send his wife a ticket for double parking his car when it crashed in the middle of the street.

I hear you Juan, that is simply outrages, she lost her husband… its like do you even have a heart or any sorrow for this poor woman…

  3. E.L.Diaz says:

Yeah, to all ya’ll who are so quick to make excues for cops and their “tough jobs”, this is a good example of how they don’t give a shit about us! yeah, I know, I know, it is a tough job and they are not all bad people, blah, blah….we are not all bad people, yet they treat us with such f*ing hatred…Just ask Sean Bell’s widow and his childen.

  4. Juan says:

There’s absolutely no reason for this. This is like in soccer when you commit a foul but still maintain position of the ball. You know you were wrong so you just surrender possession. NYPD needs to fall back and be humble. Yall won, just be easy.

  5. Malcolm says:

In the old Soviet Union, they used to send the widows a bill for the cost of the bullet used to execute their husbands.
