Diddy Scares Another From Bad Boy. ‘Making the Band’s’ Donnie Departs

Posted by Juan

We examine just how many artist inhabit the Bad Boy Graveyard

Donnie and Diddy

Donnie Klang recently became the latest artist casualty for Sean “Diddy” Comb’s Bad Boy Entertainment record label.  He joins the list of artist once signed to the label that once housed Notorious B.I.G.  Donnie of course won MTV‘s reality competition ”Making the Band” in 2008 where he earned a recording contract with Bad Boy.  During his time the young singer released a solo album to very little fan fare and just as quietly departs for independent label Eight72 Entertainment.

“It’s tough being on a label where the president of the label is also an artist,” he told Billboard.com, also disclosing his gratitude for the learning experience he had at his former label.

While I can’t hate on Diddy because his hustle is sick, one can’t help but take note of the list of causalities of would-be promising artists that have had similar issues trying to overcome the shadow of perhaps its worst artist…Diddy himself.  And although newly signed artist, Rick Ross has generated a tremendous amount of momentum, history would suggest that Bad Boy will do more damage to his career than 50 Cent’s silly YouTube videos could have ever hoped to accomplish.  And as Officer Ricky prepares to join the ranks of the anonymous, I thought it be interesting to quickly take a trip down memory lane revisiting some of the artists in the Bad Boy graveyard.

That’s a serious list of some talented artists that Diddy’s ego would just not let him survive under his shadow.  Its unfortunate because although some have gone on to success else where many others were never heard from again.

  2. auchamp22 says:

When the checks stop coming in… smh

  3. Jungle says:

Someone get Diddy on the phone we are going to need him to STOP the oil spilling into the gulf!!!! Apparently it’s the only thing on the list that hasn’t been extinguished!!!!!

  4. Bubba Mo says:

If you want to be a star and remain a star come to Bubba Mo records. You wont have to worry about the executive producer all in the videos and all on the records….LOL!!!!

    • skinnygirluver says:

ahahahhaha!!! yeah, it doesn’t help when your executive producer is an “artist” himself. In the end he’s the only one that is a constant, everyone else just comes and goes. I wouldn’t be interested in working with someone who has one eye on me and the other on themself.

  5. 4PL says:

It’s a record label not a foster home I dont see your list of all the failed artists on cCapitol records, or Arista, or interscope ETC,ETC. The music graveyard is full of shudawudakudas don’t act like its just Diddy. If anything we should be applauding him for still having a label after all these “failed” artists. Just business!

Also Ross isn’t signed to Bad Boy He’s managed by Diddy’s new management firm along with Nicki Minaj I believe.

    • jamesgladden says:

You are correct with the statement about Ross and Nicki Minaj. You must admit though, that guy only cares about himself and not the artists. If it wasn’t for Biggie he would be a nobody and you know this…

      • 4PL says:

Biggie definitely helped take him to another level but he produced plenty of platinum records before BIG to say he would be nobody is a bit ridiculous he was already somebody when he and BIG met. Was he the Diddy that we know today? Of course not but as the old saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” 15yrs later dude has an empire worth half a bill.

  6. jamesgladden says:

Donnie has to realize that he is not an artist. He has no charisma, nor does he have any kind of sex appeal whatsoever. I think that he needs to work behind the scenes composing and producing. It is proven that he definitely can do this with excellence. Just because you can write and play instruments doesn’t mean you have what it takes to stand before an audience. Donnie can make his contribution to music some other way.

  7. Shawn Richards 'THE WRITER!' says:

Why is Dawn Richards on this list? She’s in Dirty Money…

  8. Mr. Bad Guy says:

A deal with P. Shitty, is like a deal with the devil. Yeah, you will get the fame and fortune and whatever you want , but you will be anally raped, robbed of all that was given to you, and fade away into obscurity almost instantly afterwards……

The funny shit is, even knowing the ever growing list above , if P. Shitty was holding auditions in the next hour, there would be a line around the block twice. It’s like people wan to be lied to and mishandled…

    I really dont get it…

At some point in the near future, you’re gonna be making a post like this for Jay-Z too.
