I told you game 4 was Boston’s game 7 and they played like it tying the series up 2-2. Last nights game 5 was an important performance but going into the game if Boston lost no one would have been mad, most probably expected them to lose game 5 b/c no team has one back to back games in this series…… until now. In what has to be considered from a competitiveness and level of play standpoint the best game of the postseason, Boston showed defensive dominance and a balanced attack while Kobe Bryant showed why he’s still the game best.

Paul Pierce had his best game of the series and was practically un-guardable as was Kobe Bryant who had 21 of his 38 points in the third qtr, the problem with that is the Lakers only scored 23 points as a team in the qtr. It wasn’t a situation were Kobe was hoisting up a ton of shots either he was probably as efficient as he’s been all series shooting just under %50 for the game. The Celtics seemed to be ok with playing solid defense on Bryant and if he scores he scores and make sure they lock down the other threats like Gasol and Bynum. At one point in the game you heard Coach Doc Rivers Telling his team not to worry about the Bryant onslaught of points. The fact that Andrew Bynum was visibly hurt helped the Celtics as well, Bynum started guns blazing scoring 6 quick points in the opening quarter after an alley oop from Bryant Bynum seemed to ave tweaked his already ailing knee and was pretty much ineffective from that point on.

The rest of the Lakers offense was anemic, Gasol was the only other player in double figures w/12.  Ron Artest’s rhythm and shot selection are very questionable for the entire playoffs last night wasn’t any different. Everyone knows that Artest a player who scored 15-20 points a night before coming to LA has been asked to sacrifice his offensive game for the betterment of the team. One has to wonder if that tactic is coming back to haunt the Zen Master Phil Jackson when Kobe needs a helping hand, Odom has disappeared and the stifling defense of the Celtics has rendered Gasol helpless.

Along with great defense and Pierce’s 27 point game on 12-21 shooting, balance was the name of the game and the reason why Celtics will win the championship. Lakers have the best player and the better coach but the Celtics balanced attack which includes the second team led by the likes of Nate Robinson and Glenn Davis is to much for one man to handle. In game 5 all of the big 4 were in double figures and another 13 points were scored by the bench.

Honestly I don’t see Kobe losing 3 games in a row, he’d rather be stuck in a Colorado hotel room w/an easy chick with to many sperms on her panties than to lose game 6. But I do believe my original prediction of Celtics in 7 games is right around the corner. Who U got?
