Dr. Dre Crowned Vibe.com’s ‘Greatest Producer of All-Time’

Posted by Juan

As determined by 62% of the votes

You’ll recall a few weeks back I asked The Nation to Sound Off on who yall believed was the “Greatest Producer of All-Time.”  The post was in response to the then launch of Vibe.com’s bracket style contest to determine G.O.A.T. on the sticks.  We got a tremendous response from the Nation and as in the Vibe contest, DJ Premier and Dr. Dre were among the favorites.  But for Vibe, there could only be one winner and with 62% of the fans’ votes, Dre took home the crown.

Like the NCAA Hoops Tournament, Dre beat out some a field of 64 producers including his first round match up, DJ Toomp, DJ Quik in the second round, De La Soul’s Prince Paul in the sweet 16, Bomb Squad in the Elite 8 to advance to the final four which included heavyhitters, The Neptunes, his semi-final opponent, Kanye West and finalist Premo.

“I’m a humble person and I would’ve never expected that, seriously,” Dre said in response to the honor.  “I just go in the studio. I try to do my thing to the best of my ability.”

With the debate now settled, Vibe now wants to know what era you think was Dre’s best.  So, Sound Off: What Dre do you think was best? NWA, Death Row, early Aftermath and his Present Day Dre?

early aftermath…. he created a monster out of a white boy…. (non racial comment)

  2. Levi says:

Death Row set the tone for Dre as a lone producer. I believe the D.O.C and Yella had alot to do with NWA’S EARLY music.
Aftermath took him to a WHOLE OTHER level though.

  3. dewayne says:

i have to say death row. that “bit….hes aint shsh” beat set all offf for me at least.

  4. Jaypream says:

Death Row easily. That sound defined a whole region and can never be duplicated.

  5. Mr. Bad Guy says:

Doc Dre has been pretty consistant his whole career. He creates classics yet to be seen, everything he creates is most anticipated and unforgettable.

what are you people talking about? I think Dre is living off the strength of his own name. I think your question is a trick, because all his sh!t sounds the same to me…

  9. Levi says:

    INFADEL!!
