UPDATE: Earlier this week, I told you about Spike’s new joint venture with Absolut Vodka to create a unique flavored white that would embody the essence of the best borough, Brooklyn.  Well the good people at Woooha were able to dig up some video of Spike speaking more about the project.  Shout to Yeti for the find.

A In addition to Director, #1 Knicks Fan and social advocate, Spike Lee can now “liquor bottle designer” to his very impressive resume.  Absolut Vodka recently taped the Director to help create a flavor and bottle that embodies the spirit of Brooklyn, the best city in America.  , Absolut Brooklyn. That sounds like me is the latest installment in their new limited edition flavor series. The design features one of Brooklyn’s iconic brownstone buildings which Spike says is his own rendering of crib he grew up in.  The art features some bold colors and is reminiscent of an old Jacob Lawrence painting.  (Yall go look that up now.)

As far as the liquor, Spike had to go with an apple and ginger flavor mix to represent borough. The bottle’s go for $29.99 but proceeds go to the $50,000 donation that Absolut is making to Habitat for Humanity to help fund an affordable homes project in Bed-Stuy.  Good because the hood needs a face lift.  Absolut Brooklyn joins its predecessors in the series Absolut Boston (black tea and elderflower), Los Angeles (blueberry, acerola cherry, açai berry and pomegranate) and New Orleans (black pepper and mango).

While I’m not a huge drinker when I do sip, I definately choose white.  I’m more of a Grey Goose/ Ciroc higher end Vodka drinker but next time I hit the liquor store I’m definately picking up a bottle of that Spike and representing for the home team.  Great marketing Absolut…Salute.
