HIGHBRID NATION REMEMBERS: Gary Coleman

Posted by Juan

“Watchu Talkin ‘Bout Nation” Lets share our memories of one of the greatest and tragic child actors of all time

Arnold

By now you know that Gary Coleman, the diminutive “Diff’rent Strokes” star died at the tender age of 42.  He’s been troubled by health issues his whole live most notably his congenital disorder led him to never grow taller than 4’8 and his kidney problem that lead to two transplants. He also had heart surgery last year and suffered a horrible seizure earlier this year.

But it was a fall that ultimately led to Coleman’s unfortunate life departure.  He was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage at his Utah home and was put on life support.  After making the decision that he would not recover, his wife, Shannon pulled life support early this morning. Friends and family members were by his side when he died

For the Nation, Coleman was best known as the lovable “Arnold” for the childhood role in “Diff’rent Strokes,” which captivated us after school from 1978 to 1986.  Its sad, the whole Diff’rent Strokes squad is dead save Todd Bridges who might have gone harder than any of the others.  While there won’t be any reunion lets take some time out to pay our respects to a vital piece of our childhood.
