SOUND OFF: What’s Next For Lebron James?

Posted by Juan

Should he stay or should he go now?

Lebron James
@lebron2010 @lebronselbow @Cavs
Last night while watching one of the few NBA games I’ll sit down and watch from end to end throughout the year I couldn’t help but get the feeling I was witnessing history.   Not quite the Obama inauguration kind but history none the less. We’re embarking the biggest free agent period in NBA history and no one will move ANYWHERE until Mr. James decides on his next move.

Lebron really has one maybe two major decisions he’ll have to make within the next 49 days until the free agent period opens.  First if he feels that Cleveland can support his career allowing him to achieve his goal as one of the games immortals.  This can only be done if he’s given the supporting cast that will afford him the opportunity to win championships.  If the answer to that is NO then he’s gotta decide where he can go that will.

For once this is not about money.  Because the NBA is a salary capped league, Lebron is going to receive the max contract no matter where he goes.  So its all about the intangibles.  Where is he going to be able to flourish as a player and win.  Where is he going to be able to maximize his earning potential off the court.  At this point its all speculation but isn’t that part of the fun?  So Nation SOUND OFF! What’s next for King James?

BTW Can someone explain why the crowd was chanting New York Knicks whenever Lebron stepped to the line?

Ha ha ha!!! I despise Boston (the city, the fans, the teams, the air, the water, the caterpillars….everything about it) that was classic! Boston’s rednecks heckling Lebron like that. They wanted to make sure he knew that they think he is jumping ship to the Knicks…I hope he doesn’t. I would rather get three good players, than just one very good one…I don’t think they win a championship with the team they have now, plus Lebron.

    • Juan says:

If you’re Boston do you really WANT that? Lebron up in your face all the time in the same division? Yikes. Plus he might just go there to make a point like don’t tes na sey sin?

  2. ca$h says:

Dallas. LeBron n Dirk would be unstoppable. Mark Cuban will make it happen.

    • B.E.B. says:

Yeah ca$h thats what I’m talking about! We need a beast like Lebron to represent Dallas! We’re a shooting team, we need new strategies and Lebron would be a great asset for us!!! Come on Mark! Make it happen!!!

      • E.L.Diaz says:

Sounds like a good fit, with Dirk and JKidd. In the wide open western conference style of play, Dirk and Bron could average 25 each and JKidd 14 dimes a game.

  3. macika says:

he need to go back to school and learn how to WIN WHEN IT COUNTS!!! the reg season is just that.

  4. dutchmaster3k5 says:

he needs to stay in cleveland..fire that slow-dumb lookin coach…bring in chris bosh n joe johnson…then BAM! U GOT A CHAMPIONSHIP

  5. ron g says:

Chi-town here comes the KING!!! The Bulls is the best choice to continue the MJ Legacy in the Windy City.

  6. ENIGMA65 says:

I think King James should take good long look at the CLIPPERS yes I sa1d the CLIPPERS!!! Lebron and Kobe playing in 1 of the largest cities and media capitols in the world. They would sell out the Forum everynight. By the way the CLIPPERS have some player the would support a player like Lebron.
    PG Barron Davis
    SG Eic Gordon

  7. ENIGMA65 says:

    CAVEAT

    C Chris Kaman
    PF Blake Griffin
    SF Lebron James
    off the Bench
    Steve Blake
    Drew Godden
    Rasual Butler
    Travis Outlaw

I think the team will be good and having a tru PG in B Davis will allow Lebron to just do his thing

Obviously none of you have been watching Lebron James closely the past 7 years in the NBA or the past 4 in HS like I have. Other than the fact that due to the current cap structure (no team can pay him more) and the fact that he still gets the top endorsements and maximum exposure while playing in a small market city, there really is no option for him other than the Cleveland cCvaliers. and The level of comfort that cavs owner Dan Gilbert has built around him is unparalleled. He realizes what lebron means to the city of cleveland economically and obviously as a member of the cavaliers. For starters, he re built the arena and much of downtown cleveland within 2 years. Even building casinos in other parts of ohio. He built the cavs a brand new state of the art practice facility, in independence which is a short drive from Lebron’s home in Bath Township. He allowed lebron’s HS buddy and business partner Maverick Carter become the cavs player leasion and sit behind the bench for every game (its the dude he high fives 1st when he does the pregame intros). Dan Gilbert is fully invested in keeping lebron in cleveland and is willing to do whatever it takes. He is a man of his word and not just blowing smoke like knicks president Donnie Walsh or all the media outlets (i.e. ESPN, Fanhouse.com) that are currently discrediting the city of cleveland and the cavaliers. As a resident of the area, I feel disrespected and slighted by such sources. It is unfortunate that these are the tactics they use to fill up the airwaves and the worst part is, the majority of people are just eating it up.

1st of all I don’t understand how this guy is called King out the gate like that. I remember when he came on the scene with Wade and Melo.He did not even get his team 2 the playoffs the 1st year, Melo did and Wade has already won a ring, the point I am trying 2 make is what has he done? Every1 is kissing his ass like he is the truth . He is a gr8 basketball player definately top 5 if not top 2, what up Kobe .Boston beat the brakes off the Cavs and they have a solid team he has not really done shit as far as winning a ring even when he went 2 the finals San Antonio swept there asses and they had less talent than this years Cavs team .Now every1 is concerned about where he is going like the NBA won’t move until he makes a choice. He will eventually when a ring but not this year or next year 1 reason is Kobe Bryant he still has something 2 prove and his desire 2 win and win and win. It took Michael Jordan 7 yrs so Lebron your 7 is up time 2 be a team player and make others around u better individual awards r gr8 but holding that NBA champioship trophy is the ultimate.

      nastee,

Nicknames are irrelevant but if your a 6’8 240lb sophomore in HS who plays like a cross between Magic Johnson, Dr. J and Bo Jackson with a basketball, they will call you King too. Unfortunately I have to get at your post real quick.
      1) Melo made the playoffs with a better team. He had a very able front court with Camby and Nene, and a decent starting back court with 3pt sniper Voshon Lenard and Andre Miller from the Cavs the previous year. Their bench included Earl Boykins and an early Birdman Andersen, along with Rodney White and Jon Barry who were legitimate role players at that time. 9 deep not mentioning serviceable big man Mike Doleac. That team was good enough to get the # 8 seed in the west and get spanked by KG Cassel and Spree in the 1st round. The 03-04 Cavs make shift roster included studs like a washed up Eric Williams who started almost half the season after being acquired in the Ricky Davis midseason trade. Davis was a talented me first bum who should have been a legitimate player (he was the one who shot at his own basket to get a triple double). Also there was Darius Miles and Jeff McGinnis who really should have been talented role players but unfortunately were overrated when acquired by the team, and a 7’3 lithuanian whom we call Big Z. Yes the Cavs had Carlos Boozer (who bolted the following year) and Davis/Z put up decent numbers but that team was horribly reliant on Lebron had zero cohesion and chemistry with the coach and therfore had no real chance of making the playoffs.
      2) When you say that everyone is kissing his ass your forgetting one thing: Lebron is the most hyped athlete sports has ever seen. ESPN already has a page entitled Lebron watch for the remaining 45 odd days until July 1 for all news King James. If you check the amount of google hits per hour about lebron its insane. Yes he has not won a championship yet but the man is 25 yrs old and has not had a legit teammate or coach yet. Jordan had 2 of the top 50 greatest players ever on his team (pippen and rodman) and phil jackson. Kobe had shaq again top 50 ever in his prime and phil jackson. Wade had shaq a little past his prime but still very effective and not to mention the contributions of an experienced gary payton and pat riley for the majority of the season (and the officials! if you look at the numbers wade shot more free throws than the dallas mavericks the entire series. smells like a tim donaghy) lebron will get his chance in time. Hes a two time MVP, Rookie of the year and all NBA player for a reason. Its not just hype and ass kssing (only by ESPN). Dude is the truth. He was right when he said we are spoiled by how well he often plays. But get at me to talk NBA anytime just send me a post

  10. dewayne says:

we have everything you need right here in houston lebron!

  11. skinnygirluver says:

He should stay in Cleveland. You stay where you are going to make more money playing basketball. There are too many athlete’s nowadays that are losing money from endorsements because they make a mistake in their personal lives. No one is above this, so if you want to max out on money being made playing basketball and not worry about scandals taking you down, STAY IN CLEVELAND.
