Hip Hop’s Greatest Mystery Saved!: B.I.G.’s Wrongfull Death Suit x LAPD Tossed

Posted by Juan

Despite Ms. Wallace’s efforts to prove LA officials elaborately plotted to kill her son, Hip Hop needs B.I.G. Murder Mystery

BIG and Pac@notNotoriousBIG @LAPD
Since her son’s death, Ms. Voletta Wallace has placed the blame of her son’s death squarly on the backs of the Los Angeles city officials and the LAPD.  In 2002 she filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the LAPD  claiming Marion ‘Suge’ Knight conspired with alleged gunman Amir Muhammad and LAPD officers Rafael Perez (no relation) and David Mack to kill B.I.G. in retaliation for the death of his friend and label artist, Tupac Shakur.  Today we’ve learned the longstanding lawsuit has been thrown out.In March, 2006 U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper awarded Wallace’s estate a $1.1 million judgment against the city’s authorities however the ruling was overturned two months when the judge ruled the complainants withheld information important to the case.

This latest dismissal likely marks the end of the Ms. Wallace’s 8 year battle to hold the Los Angeles officials accountable for her son’s death.

While everything from the evidence to logic to even the Biggie Bioflic, “Notorious” suggests that BIG was killed in retaliation for the Pac’s murder with Suge Knight involved and the Los Angeles police officials playing cover up, the truth is BIG’s murder will never completely be solved.

I often wonder apologetically if it is left better that way.  No arrest or conviction will ever bring back the Greatest that ever did it or the West Coast’s outlaw.  One can argue the mystery, legend and plot that surrounded Pac and B.I.G.’s death allowed hip hop to attain the status it holds in pop culture today with growth amid the buzz and controversy.  Were BIG and Pac martyrs to a greater cause?  Was the East Coast/ West Coast Feud that fueled their demise a necessary evil?  Its hip hop’s greatest tragedy but even in Shakespeare, “tragedy” is  revered for some of the greatest stories ever told.  By solving the case would it in some way destroy hip hop’s greatest mystery and source of epic debate?

Hip hop aside,Ms. Wallace lost her son, she deserves to know what happen. Hip hop didn’t need for Pac and B.I.G to die to blow up…it was already happening. The East/West feud was manufactured. I think that both of their murders did raise people awareness of Hip Hop, but it was not the type of attention we needed. Imagine if they were both still here with us! I think it’s terrible that they continue to devalue a Black man’s life…

    • Mr. Bad Guy says:

I think that’s all that needs to be said about that.

A clear depriciation of a Black Mans life, and a Black Mothers mourning.

    • Juan says:

Excellent points. I think what I was saying and didn’t make my point effectively was that I think Ms. Wallace and everyone who cares knows that BIG was killed in part by the city of Los Angeles. That’s apparent. No justice or money is going to bring him back. I think the irony and defiance on behalf of the government to hold responsibility in essence keeps his memory alive and adds to Hip Hop lore. Sounds insensitive but true.

  2. Mr. Bad Guy says:

Look at any murder great enough to be worth calling conspiracy. The public, or those inquiring, was at least given a patsy to point the finger at, to satisfy some major points of intrigue, whether it was believed or not. These mofos just George W. Bushed Ms. Wallace, didn’t say sh!t, didn’t answer any questions and kept it the f@ck moving. A repungnant display of disrespect.

suge killed pac! suge, puff, and jay z had big killed. it was the perfect storm for those who wanted to sell their soul for riches. after pac died suge all of a sudden was worth over 400 million dollars. after big died puffs’ worth grew to over 600 million and jay z? oh well he is just the richest out of all em. rap had seen this type of money. its a dam shame, imagine 2pac, big, nas, and jay z over a dr. dre, premo, pete rock, just blaze, kanye, alchemist, timbo, or even a cool&dre track. thats what they robbed us of. now back to the snap your fingers, and skinny jean rap

    • Juan says:

True but with the downfall of the music industry or distribution would BIG or Pac even have been pushing units like that today? Remember it was the entire industry that hit the wall not just hip hop music.

      • dewayne says:

yes they would still be pushing units.you gotta understand what jay z is doing is what pac and big would be doing. they had a global following kind of like wu tang clan and the old mobb deep. you kno those cats could go platinum just in one city. the downfall of rap started with the death of pac…they killed the messager he was our voice. big was just the sickest lyrically but pac was our voice. people 13 all the way to 42 will still be listenin to pac: i.e. bob marley.when you have a favorite or favorites it doesnt feel right downloading it, because you want to support them

  4. 2NA$$TEE says:

1st of all my heart goes out 2 Ms. Wallace and Mrs.Shakur/Davis . I knew alooooong time ago that this would happen . It was never going 2 trial, it would put 2 many people on blast 4 their past.LAPD, Suge Knight,The FBI, who followed BIG around and all of a sudden no 1 knows ahit ? C’mon 2pac same thing . KKKrackuz were part of it from a Just Us stand point bcuz we as a color have no say on the justice system none what so ever . We KKKontrol no w8 in the courts .Pac was leaving Death Row the reason he got iced. Big was just set up in some East/West Coast bullshit feud.We as a Hip Hop nation should all be ashamed including myself that we don’t demand Justice for these crimes. If it were some KKKuntry singers 2 major 1z trust me they would still be an investigation.
Hell for everyday people u hear about Cold cases not being solved and KKKrackuz stay on that shit .Hell they are still investigating if Kurt Kobain was murdered . Peep Game from the KKKKrackuz HB Nation.2PAC/BIG Best that ever done it.Yea, I said it!!! PS Thanxxx alot Suge .

    • Juan says:

I think your last point is key. We don’t place enough blame on Suge’s careless and reckless behavior. It is because of him that two of the iconic artists of our generation are gone today.
