Last night, after a long winter, the Major League Baseball Season kicked off.  But just as important on the field as the Yankees battled the Red Sox was what was taking place off it as Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine introduced the Beats by Dre special edition, Boston Red Sox headphones at Fenway Park.

Ironically, Lebron James was in town for an earlier matinee with the Celtics and joined Dre in the luxury booth to watch the game.  Now Lebron has been long known to be a public Yankee fan, even choosing to wear a Yankee hat at a recent playoff game between the bombers and Indians, much to the chagrin of the hometown fans, the same fans that bear “witness” to his greatness every night.

Lebron and Dre have teamed up before.  There is a #23 limited edition, Beats by Dre headphone and James was even featured in a recent NBA spot wearing Dre’s signature headphones. 

However, he was photographed wearing the Red Sox branded accessory with Dr. Dre adorned in a Red Sox Jersey.  For a Yankee fan this is a huge no-no.

For the casual fan it may seem silly but for a true baseball fan they understand this is the most intense rivalry in all of sports.  Several years ago, the Red Sox, David Ortiz was filmed in an ESPN commercial trying out Jorge Posada’s Yankees hat which was witnessed by the Red Sox mascot.  New Yorkers are serious about their sports and this could be a bad omen for Knicks fans still holding out hope he’ll sign with the team come this summer’s off-season.  On the other hand, if this doesn’t prove he’ll sell his allegiance to the highest bidder, what does.
