Philadelphia Cops Reinstated After Brutal Beating, Party Planned in their Honor

Posted by Juan

Three “suspects” acquitted of any wrongdoing get no party, no justice

Philadelphia Police Beating For those of you who have been with the Nation for some time you might remember an incident back in May of 2008 in Philadelphia where three cops were fired and disciplined for the beating of three murder suspects, Pete Hopkins, Dwayne Dyches and Brian Hall who were later acquitted of all charges.  (Wow time flies that feels like yesterday.)

Suspects

Well today those very same police officers videotaped above were invited back to the police force following their acquittal by way of an overturned verdict.  If that’s not enough a huge party organized by FOP is being planned.  “Our Guys Are BACK!” The flyer reads inviting all officers to the free happy-hour party at the Philadelphia FOP office.

This is the same beating that Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey was so horrified from after seeing the video footage that he immediately fired Officers Patrick Gallagher, Vincent Strain, Patrick Whalen and Robert Donnelly, demoted Sgt. Joseph Schiavone and suspended Officers Jonathan Czapor, Demetrios Pittaoulis and Sean Bascom.

Move Bombing

The relationship with the Black community and the police forces designed to “protect” them has always been a contentious one no matter what city you go to.  However in Philadelphia that relationship has been ever more volatile since the 1980′s standoff in which police and the very revolutionary and controversial MOVE organization, headed by John Africa clashed leaving an entire city block leveled and countless dead.  Since then Philadelphia’s African American citizens have lived in a state of constant fear and loathing of their police force.

Fast forward to today, it appears little has changed in the last 25 years and the police are still up to their old tricks and getting away with it.  No word on if a party has also been organized for now acquitted suspects but I won’t hold my breath for that one.

My city, i grew up in west philly, so i remember this like yesterday as well Jaun…

The fear we have toward the police is not because of the badge or guns, it is the fear that they can do whatever it is they want, and it doesn’t matter because they will get away with it… It is modern day slavery…

when I left for college I never looked back… The city is depleting(blacks), crime is at a very high, but as long as it is blacks killing blacks, city officials and the police don’t care…

I grew up in Philly (West Oak Lane and North Philly). And yes Philly is messed up.
I know what I’m about to say is going to sound “Uncle Tom-ish” but a lot of bad things in the Black Community are self-inflected. Too many people in philly want to be”thugs “and”goons”.

The funny part is that these so called “hustla” not even getting money. My oldheads who solded, had Bennz’s, BMW’s, Jag, and Mustangs 5.0′s.
These guy today drive busted Crown Victoria’s and Caprices that are used taxi and cops cars.
The worst part is most of there families make good make money and have good jobs, so really they dont even have to sell drugs

Not to put him on Blast but “Cassidy” went to Central High (One of the best school in the city) This family lived in “Mount Airy” which is high middle to upper class. And Now he a Hustla, when he never really had to hustle for anything.

Right now this is the mentality of most of the city’s youth and until that changes COPS are always gone be a$$h*les that treat all young blacks like they are criminals.

I never spent too much time in Philly so I can’t speak on the conditions but I think it’d be naive to believe that the conditions are due to self-infliction. The police are there to protect and serve remember.

Seems like Protect n Serve …themselves.

@juan I’m not saying all conditions in philly are self-inflicted, because their are poor people here that really need help. My family where one of them. We used food stamp ,access cards, WIC, and ate goverment grill chesse sandwiches…..lol. But we where not running around killing and beating up cats “flash mob” for no reason. We ran from cop, but youngbucks now are shooting at cop. When you do that you almost justicfy police bad behavior

It seems like all kids wanna be nowadays are hustlers or rappers (but, aren’t they the same thing?) … rappers glorify being a drug dealer, when in reality there is nothing cool or “glorious” about hustling all day long, risking life and freedom, to earn a couple of hundred dollars a day (if that)….just enough money to buy some Jordans……
I feel you, RO; it’s not just Philly, tho. Apparently, black people everywhere wanna be “thugs” and “goons.” But at the funerals, they are all “good kids.”
This Shyt has got to stop! But, it’s gonna get even worse before it gets better…

I’m on the fence. Put yourself in the shoes these fools were shooting at before they got they ass beat. They got off when the cops didn’t fill they ass with holes.
