HISTORY: Health Care Reform Bill Passes
President Barack Obama makes good on first historic campaign promise

President Obama applauds as he watches The Health Care Reform Bill Pass
While many of us rushed out to the newsstands two Novembers ago to grab hold of the newspaper commemorating President Barack Obama‘s historic election to office, I warned that it wasn’t until he began to walk the walk that history would be made. Last night President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress did just that approving historic legislation which by design will extending health care to millions of uninsured Americans while cracking down on insurance company abuses. This, the culmination of a very long battle for health care reform first started by the Clinton administration.
“This is what change looks like,” Obama said in his televised remarks harkening back to his 2008 campaign motto of “change we can believe in.”
This bill in particular is important for people of color as a disproportionate amount of Blacks and Latinos represent the over 30-million unemployed and uninsured who will finally be able to receive proper care with passage of this act.
Despite complete opposition by the Republican Party, The bill which was passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve cleared the House by a 219-212 vote.
Given the already deeply divided Congress and this vote aligned strictly on a partisan basis November’s midterm elections will prove very important to President Obama’s future success. However SOUND OFF: What are your thoughts on the bill and how it will effect the future of the health insurance system. Do you think it will bolster the economy as well?
FILED IN News

i was watching TV at 11:39 last night, on my favorite channel MSNBC when i seen the breaking news… Obama keep griding..
I feel that there are several areas of the bill, as I know it, that can be ammended. Its not perfect by a far cry, but its a start in a positive direct.
My wife was layed off while she was pregnant with our second child. After almost 3 years we are just finishing to pay off the bills COBRA left behind. Anything that would eleviate instances such as that is action that worth taking.
I also remember having to go to a Cardiologist, due to a heart defect I have that may have caused a seizure,The doctor ran several tests which came back “good”, but he then hinted toward another test he wanted to run that “my insurance didn’t cover”. He mentioned it a few times until I finally asked how much would it cost out of pocket. He said Three… I cut him off and said no, if he wasn’t going to say three dollars then I couldn’t afford it. Hopefully this bill covers things such as that, before not performing a three… test leads to something worse.
I have a question, mainly for the converative assholes, What the Fuck does Health Care have to do with spitting on people and shouting racial epithets?!?!
Seeing that shit pissed me off!!
Yeah I think you hit on the point of this legislation. Its designed to prevent Insurance Companies from playing God, deciding who lives and dies based on finacne.
Ironically this bill prevents these Insurance Companies from doing the same thing that the GOP blamed Obama of doing while pushing it.
You might not have noticed the article today about the FDA seeking to impose limitations on tanning beds…Im thinking stuff like that will increase once the Feds have a monopoly on health care (inevitable). What do you think insurance companies will do once imposed with the following guidelines 1) Cant exclude people based on previous health 2)cant raise rates for high risk people…? Raise rates for everybody! Then, 5 or 6 years from now, people will be complaining about this so much that the govt comes along and “saves” us with their public option…which wouldnt have been needed except that they put us in a position where there was really no alternative.
Mr.Bad Guy that is my point as well. Can no 1 else c what the fucKKK is going on . KKKonservatives r get’n ready 2 kick up some dust . We as blacks are the target . I suggest u get ready 2 rumble or tuck ya tail and bail bitches. How disrespectful is that 2 spit on some1 bcuz u don’t like a law that was passed. That is the lowest form of disrespect.Spit on me I WILL RIP YOUR FUCK’N tongue out Tea Fag group.
Spitting has nothing to do with health care…they shouldnt have done it. But its a good sign that people are getting fed up with the govt…it wasnt just a few people pissed off, there are a LOT of people pissed off. Obama and congress would be wise to consider this. He works for us, after all.
This is a good step, complicated but good and we’ll all be better off in the long run.
Conservatives said its to expensive but it’s actually 10% of our defense budget over that same time period. So whats more important Guns or Health?
PREACH!
Well im a tea partier…and lots of tea party folks i know think that we shouldnt be in iraq either. That would take care of the defense budget rise…just to clarify, theres many democrats in the tea party too…one of the main reasons the tea party exists is to lobby to reduce govt spending and waste…that includes unnecessary wars, wasteful health care bills (not saying we dont need health care reform, but this bill is not well thought out at all), and wasteful bailouts and economic stimuluses. Those are all short term fixes that F everything up in the long run.
I stayed up late last night to see the results, i really wanted to hear what our president had to say and again i was impressed.I don’t know what all this bill has in it but if it’s going to save lives and money then i’m all for it. I work for a small business in st. louis, it’s only three of us. Last year my premium was only 50.00, within last year my premium triple to 150.00 just to be seen by a doctor.i’m blessed to afford it but for those that can’t your worries are over.i cannot and will not understand people that don’t understand, thats upset with what just happened. I’m not perjudice against any race creed or color, i hate to think that all this rage is because a BLACK MAN got it done.As a people, as a nation, as a race, we need to get with the program and get behind our PRESIDENT BARACK. For all that he’s induring, for all the disrespct he is taking and not letting them get to him, with the spitting and the name calling, if he can take all that, then we need to stand up in our homes, on our jobs, in our community, and be proud of this man and for what we stand for. ONE NATION UNDER A GROOVE!!!!!!!!! MAY GOD CONTIUNE YOU TO BLESS OUR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!
U on point with that 1 Mr. Mike Paw .We as a people I mean blacks, whites, native american, hispanic, middle eastern, etc need 2 do more than stand up . WE NEED 2 FIGHT BACK MENTALLY,PHYSICALLY,ETC.STOP BEING SCARED OF KKKONSERVATIVES AND REPUBLIK.K.KLANS!!!!Where r the New Black Panthers at ? Always talking shit but not around when shit goes down.
Well i dont think that a lot of the anger is because hes black…people are angry at what hes doing, and sometimes when people are angry and either are, or feel, helpless to change anything they lash out in the way that will hurt most…and theres no better way to express anger than calling someone a nazi or spitting on them. Not agreeing with it at all…people need to find other ways to channel their anger. And regarding your statement about everyone needing to get behind Obama to support him…how is that healthy for a republic or democracy? Our country operates the way it does because people have the right to come up with their own opinions, think for themselves, and disagree… A country that just follows their leader around wherever he goes is modeled closer to a dictatorship…the pres works for us, and we tell him what to do, based on what the majority of people want. The majority didnt want this law, if anything it was closer to an even half. He should have started over and had a bill written that would be acceptable by more people. He didnt tho, because he wanted the bill done his way… all good and fine, but dont be he shouldnt be surprised that a bunch of people are pissed off at him. And i dont think he is surprised…or really even cares. Which sort of follows along the lines of arrogance IMHO
