I’m not exactly sure why there’s been an influx of hate surrounding Wyclef Jean and his Yele Haiti fund lately.   You might recall after the Earthquake that ravished his native country, The Smoking Gun (TSG) went in on Clef for allegations ranging from bad book keeping to using the non-for-profit as his personal piggy bank.  The report came as Clef was mobilizing recovery efforts and solicit Hip Hop’s help.

In defense, Wyclef Jean has taken to the virtual press conference platform, Twitter to angrily dispel these allegations and new rumors that he used the organizations funds to pay an alleged jumpoff a six-figure salary.

However, Gawker is reporting that Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus, the alleged side chick banked $105,000 for work classified as “independent contracting” back in 2008.  Earlier this month, Wyclef caught the wrath of his wife Marie Claudinette found nude pictures of his then long-time manager, Lisa Ellis on his phone.  Ellis who has since left his employment says the pictures were part of a private artistic photo shoot.  (At least he has good taste…all of them are beautiful…anyway…)

As for Khatou-Chevassus “She worked for Wyclef on all Wyclef matters” Gawker reports.  “She did whatever Wyclef needed that day, whether it was related to Yele or not. She would do things like book flights, and she wasn’t very good at it. It’s a shame that she made that much money.”

According to the report despite being classified as a “personal assistant” Khatou-Chevassus’ salary was three times that of Yele’s program director received.

“Everyone knows they were in a relationship,” said another unnamed source. “A dozen people, including me, saw and knew. It wasn’t a secret.”

Ok lets stop there.  Wyclef’s my dude but he likes chicks, side chicks.  We now know about the Khatou-Chevassus thing, there was the driving Lauren Hill insane thing, his rumored relationship with City High singer Claudette Ortiz.  He’s married so its wrong but there’s no reason for that to effect the positive and great work he’s done with raising money for the recovery and restoration of Haiti.
